Yeah, the game is hella amazing,I wish more FPS could be like Bioshock in terms of story/setting creativity and that have an in-depth and interesting story.Bioshock's atmosphere is the main thing that makes me love it though but I think I'm asking too much for every FPS game to have an atmosphere as compelling as Bioshock's.

I'm not going to play it tonight because I am sick.

I'm also interested in Bioshock infinite but I think I'll wait for it to drop in price a bit before I get it but I want to play it because it will likely receive one of my personal game of the year honorable mentions or maybe even an award.I am interested to see how the concepts of 'racism' and 'racial supremacy' are used in Bioshock Infinite's story because in it's Gamespot video review it had people in the game saying some extremely racially derogatory remarks about blacks and Asians so I'm assuming there is a very good story-related reasons for this because this is a very sensitive issue.

After experiencing darker-style stories and atmospheres with Shadow Hearts Covenant and Bioshock,I think the next game I will move onto will be Paper Mario Thousand Year Door because I want to play something colorful and charming next.I'm still midway through Tales of the Abyss which is quite a colorful JRPG but it's story is a bit intense and I want to experience a story that's charming and lighthearted. And I still want to find time to play through Wild Arms 4 too and this doesn't even count the 2013 releases I want to play(Lightning Returns,Soul Sacrifice,Remember Me,Project X,A Link to the Past 2,Bioshock Infinite and Bravely Default if it gets localized).

I love the Mario vs Donkey Kong games.  In fact, I finally got around to finishing Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Mini-Land Mayhem just a few weeks ago.  There's only one title I know of that I haven't gottan around to yet, and that's Mario vs Donkey Kong: Minis March Again because I never owned a DSi.  I should probably check to see if the game's available on the eShop now that I have a 3DS.  Anywho, my interest was piqued in this game when I saw it announced a couple of Nintendo Directs ago, and for 10 dollars, I simply had to get it.

I will say this, though, the game is lacking in presentation.  Is it surprising?  It's only 10 bucks.  But, there are no little cutscenes of Mario going after Donkey Kong with his minis.  I miss those.  As for gameplay content, the game's packed, especially for just 10 bucks.  The main game has four seperate puzzle modes with three of them having at least 50 puzzles.  The other mode, Giant Jungle, has three massive puzzles that took me more than a half hour to solve on each one.  Unfortunately, I can't help but wonder how much better this game could have been had it not been relagated to an eShop title and had actually been designed as a full priced retail 3DS title.

So basically, the game works like this.  The playfield has holes everywhere, and you have a tube that fills up with tiles that have pieces of track on it.  Curves, straights, intersections; you place different tiles around the playfield for your mini to make his way to the goal.  Along the way, he can pick up M coins for extra points.  Collect all three in a level and earn a star.  There are also coins that sit on clouds, and to get these, you have to create a closed loop.  Do so and that segment raises up and also spawns extra time pick ups.  Make a mistake?  You can also drop a bomb and shatter a tile.

The game's highly addicting.  The first mode, Mario's Main Event starts out ridiculously easy and for the first 20 or so levels begins to get boring, but once the difficulty ramps up, you get hooked.  It can get pretty hectic trying to manage your path while keeping your mini clear of obstacles at the same time not lettting your tile pipe get backed up.  If that happena, it's game over.  The more you play, the more modes unlock, and you also unlock mini games and toy minis.

The mini games are nice little distractions that involve you pulling a slingshot back and firing your mini at targets, or chipping away at an object until it's blown to pieces or raising and lowering a mini on a platform to collect coins and dodge Bullet Bills.  Even though they're just mini games, they aren't really engrossing, so you - or at least I - won't feel compelled to play them for long.  You'll just want to dive right back into the main modes.

I got to tell you, though, the later modes of the main game have some evil puzzles.  Peach's game has you using only a select number of puzzles while Toad's has you moving rotating titles and swapping other titles around.  I already told you about Giant Jungle, and those puzzles are just nefarious.  Still, I'm having a lot of fun with this game, and everyone with a 3DS who likes puzzlers would do good to download it.  Again, it's only 10 bucks!

Over the last few decades, the human species have done some incredible things. We reached the moon, we created the modern computer, and one of the most prominent forms of entertainment today: the video game. We have evolved over the years and created such a glorious entertainment. As well as evolve technologically, we have evolved away from horrid gender stereotypes. Women used to be viewed as the housekeeper, while the men were the breadwinners. Likewise in video games, gender stereotypes and roles in the industry such as protagonists and even jobs or appealing games have changed. Women are becoming accepted to be in higher job roles and even taking on more masculine characteristics. With video games, women are usually found being the damsel in distress, the voice-over sidekick, or the sex object. Throughout the past four decades, gender stereotypes as well as the cultural norms have changed through video games, and there is also a parallel trend from how our culture has come to accept the overall different types of people, in which as time goes by, we have culturally gone away from gender stereotypes and sexism.

Women in video games overall were uncommon in any strong position pre-21st century. One of the first time the lead character of a video game was a woman, but the catch was that it was revealed upon completing, and that was only if the game was completed in under five hours. That game was called Metroid. In the game, the playable character was a space bounty hunter named Samus Aron who fought against the Mother Brain and a bunch of space pirates, her weapon was, and still is, a gun. Back when this was made, in 1986, there wasnt another female protagonist, and if there was, they certainly wouldnt be shooting anyone. But at the end of the game, Samus took of her suit and revealed her true sex. The response to this revelation was complete shock in the audience. But the audience came to accept her through the entire game, thinking that she was a guy, even though she wasnt. There are mixed conclusions one could make, as the developing team didnt even think to include this until after the game was finished, but the series creator Sakamoto, even stated in 2004 that they didnt want the bounty hunter to become nothing more than a sexual object. (Sorice) Back then, women were only viewed as sex objects, and intentional or not, Samus was wearing a bikini. So as the start of women in video games were emerging, there were still problems, but at least Samus was not intended to be a sex object. Most other women who were in video games, were damsels in distress. One of the first and most famous video games was Donkey Kong. The hero is jump-man which we know today as Mario. Mario traverses the traps that Donkey Kong set up to try and save the damsel in distress, which in this case, is Princess Peach. She is completely helpless as she waves her arms around like a fish out of water, and outbursts cries of help because she needs a man to save her. Once you complete the third level, Donkey Kong falls to his dismay and there is a heart that appears between the two. Later on in the industry, when they began to star females in games, one female lead stood out from the rest: Lara Croft from Tomb Raider. She was in countless games where she is a treasure hunter. She gets dirty and kills anyone that stands in her way. The one problem with having a female doing this, was that she was highly sexualized. The industry still wasnt used to having a strong female lead, and many men wouldnt want to play this game unless they could look at her butt the entire game. Most images that you see of her from her first games, are her abnormally large breasts, her tight tank-tops, and her extremely short shorts. A writer at IGN says about the men who played Tomb Raider, But for others, as the series declined prior to Crystal Dynamics Tomb Raider: Legend, Lara Croft became symbolic of the video games prevailing failure to offer up real characters rather than cardboard cut-outs with huge guns/muscles/breasts. (MacDonald). The women she says viewed her as an iconic heroine, but the factor of how she was sexualized outweighs the factor of that she is a woman. So with the sexualization of women, and the damsel in distress helplessly flailing her arms away, women didnt have an easy time in the industry. Men in videogames had a lot easier time in the industry, with no one even questioning their position.

Men had much more of a common and easier time in the industry, such as being the lead role without any big fuss, but also were described as the one in power, with hyper masculine traits. The male in general was typically the guy who provided for the women and got dirty when he had to. Margaret Fuller describes in her essay The Great Lawsuit, The wife praises her husband as good provider, the husband in return compliments her as a capital housekeeper, (Fuller 22). The women in our society accept the men in charge. In games such as Max Payne, Halo: Combat Evolved, and the original Resident Evil, the male protagonists each had a female sidekick. The job of the female would be not to kill the people that stand in their way, but to give them information behind a desk, or just run around helplessly. In a game like Mario, it would be the males job to save the princess, similar to that in the Legend of Zelda. In most games pre 21st century, the male would save the female. The men in video games were typically described as muscular and overly strong. If you look at a game like Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter, the men in that game have their shirts off to the point where you can see the over-the-top muscles. Take Ryu for example, the most well-known street fighter. Every picture of him is him with a tough looking face, with a karate suit on, and either flexing or in a fighting stance. Every guy in that game on the character select screen has a tough looking face. Similar to what expert and educator Jackson Katz says in the documentary, Tough Guise. Jackson Katz says in his argument The front that many men put up thats based on an extreme notion of masculinity that emphasizes toughness and physical strength and gaining the respect and admiration of others through violence or the implicit threat of it, (Katz). That accurately represents how all of the male Street Fighters and Kombat warriors are portrayed. Although the street fighters are still disguised as this masculine pose, and women are still sometimes the sidekick, there has been several positive changes since the new millenium hit.

When the 21st century hit, there have been numerous changes to the bias that video games had in regards to gender and sex. Females are more common to be the lead characters and getting more dirty. Games like Uncharted, Final Fantasy, Gravity Rush, Assassins Creed: Liberation, all star females who arent afraid to get dirty and do things that are described as masculine, except the opposite sex is taking on these roles. Take Gravity Rush for example, the main character, Kat, has to defend the city from the Nevi, an unknown terror that rose up from the ground. Typically you would see a man saving the world from an alien attack, but in this case, its a women taking on the attack. She uses her gravity shifting powers to kill the Nevi. She kills, fights, and saves people. Countless times, she saves the rookie cop from trouble. Another lead female is one I have already talked about, that is Lara Croft from Tomb Raider. Square Enix is rebooting the series with a whole new look at Lara Croft, she is no longer a sex object that has men drooling over her when people cosplay. The first images released of the new Lara Croft were of a dirty female in jeans and a shirt. Ron Rosenberg, the executive producer was in an interview talking about the changes, where he said, Gone are her ridiculous proportions and skimpy clothing. This Lara feels more human, more real, thats intentional, (Schreier). This is a sign that people are changing. If some company who intentionally made Lara Croft into a sexy protagonist, into an actual and realistic human, there is so much other companies and we as a society can accomplish, and we can change. The change in who plays video games is a surprise. Typically the ones who would play the NES, or Genesis, would be the brother in the family. But starting in the mid 1990s, games were having more appeal. The Sims was a huge success among women and men. Kristina Benson says, even studies from the early and mid 1990s suggest that a large percentage of females play computer games for approximately 1-2 hours a week, (Benson). The console that were released in 1995 was the original Gameboy. Due to the complete lack of solid graphics, the blood and gore were merely pixel dust. Nintendo was releasing games that could attract both genders, like the Game and Watch Gallery. Today, women are seeing a lot more play time than 1-2 hours a week. The Electronic Software Association explores the growth of women gaming, as they say based on studies and statistics, Forty-seven percent of all players are women, and women over the age of 18 are the industrys fastest growing demographics, (ESA). While this might not have to do with the roles of women being the lead character, it does have to do with the variety of games. Mario has shifted away from just saving the damsel in distress, to games like Mario Party, Super Paper Mario, the sports games, and Mario Kart, all are games that you can play as Princess Peach and are genres that attract everyone. Not only are those games fun and violence free, but they are also games that encourage you to find a partner to join in. The guy in the relationship can now play a nice, friendly game with his partner. The changes in the industry have had a positive influence, as there is less controversy like in Custers Revenge, where the goal is to rape a Native American girl, and we are shifting more towards a less offensive and family game. Culturally, we are making huge steps in the right direction.

Gender problems through video games and through culture are growing out of pathetic stereotypes. Our culture has been shifting around a little bit, and there is a parallel trend from how video games are changing and how gender stereotypes are changing. For video games, when the games go from women being the helpless, screaming hostage, to a female described masculine hero, it provides hope that stereotypes dont need to exist anymore. When women are becoming the dominant sex in education, as more women are graduating, we can stop viewing them as just a sex object who lives under the stove. The industry is making games also more appealing to feminine characteristics, which leads for more opportunities for them to play, similar to how in the job world there are opportunities for both sexes. If we would take these trends and put them on a graph, the x-axis would be time, and the y-axis would be progress towards eliminating gender stereotypes, both lines would have the same slope going positive. For the future, this could mean a lot of things. We may see new series with female protagonists, we could see men being the sidekick, we could even see more women saving men as they are in the damsel in distress position. There is a vast open-world that we can take anywhere, and in a few years, the changes may even double.

griffin

- So my relentless Dark Arisen marathon has been put on hold, thanks largely to an escort mission and a pesky ass Griffin who seems to have developed a taste for the sweet flesh of fat Cassardi priests. Sky-Bitch swooped down out of nowhere to gobble him up and I didn't even have a chance to react. Oh well, I needed a break anyway. ( @Katzenbalger - Wanna help me out mate? Then I need to know where I can find airtight flasks or how to make them.) I fumbled around for a little while, starting both The Lost and the Damned and inFamous before I finally realized what I craved...

XCOM

- Inspired by @johnsteed7 and @pokecharm 's exchange on her blog I delved back into one of the very best games of 2012. If Binary Domain was my GOTY for 2012 XCOM: Enemy Unknown was a close second. I jumped headfirst into my second playthrough by tweaking all of the options on Second Wave; a decision I kind of regret when you think about the random weapon damage and how it can negatively affect Muton encounters. Needless to say I'm hooked again. I spent ALL day yesterday playing XCOM and, honestly, I can hardly wait to get back to it. I also nominate THIS game to help revive the Vita. The gameplay is perfectly suited for Sony's criminally underappreciated handheld and porting it over would give me a real reason to simply sell my copy of the PS3 game. I would prefer this on the Vita.

Last of Us

- I was slow in securing my preorder for The Last of Us but it's taken care of now. I think this will be Naughty Dog's finest work. It does make me think of Enslaved a little, another underappreciated gem. I'm not very excited by the news that it will be diluted with multiplayer, though. Worrysome.

- So, most everyone I know irl apparently despise change so vehmently that they cannot be bothered to learn how to play a new fighting game that is not Street Fighter but I happen to LOVE Dead or Alive 5. Anyone out there wanna throw down sometime? I'm green, but playing is a blast. Let me know.

mysterybox.png

Most likely they'll announce their new console which is likely the Xbox 720 which I'm guessing which will be the likeliest name or possibly a handheld device maybe. Over the past 10 years Microsoft's Xbox console has done pretty well since 2001 with its launch in the US and then slowly selling more systems across the world soon after in 2002.

Xbox_Console.jpg

Back in 1998 four engineers from Microsofts DirectX, Kevin Bachus, Seamus Blackley, Ted Hase and DirectX team leader Otto Berkes, disassembled some Dell laptop computers to construct a prototype Microsoft Windows-based video game console. They did hope it would compete well with Sonys upcoming Playstation 2 around that time. The original name was going to be called DirectX box but the name was shorten due to many people not likening the name for it and then changed it to Xbox which we all know from today. It was actually the first Microsoft video game console after collaborating with Sega to port Windows CE to port the Sega Dreamcast. Microsoft did delay the console quite a few times during 1999 and 2000 but it made its official release on November 15th 2001 with a solid line up of games in the US including-

  • Halo Combat Evolved
  • Dead or Alive 3
  • Amped
  • Project Gotham Racing
  • Oddworld Munch's Oddysee
  • Fuzion Frenzy

The controller looked a little different from other consoles but they changed the design of the controller soon after 2002 making it feel a little easier to use for playing games. Xbox also let you rip music from CD's and then keeping them saved on your console, meaning that you could play your favourite music while playing games which was actually quite a good idea but that only worked on a selected amount of games. It also played DVD's you put a USB chip in one of the controller ports and then you would be able to watch DVD's with the Xbox remote.

halo-1.jpg

"One of the many reasons, Xbox sold really well over the years"

One of the biggest games that made the Xbox sell really and it was also had online which was called Xbox Live where you could play online with your friends. And one of the biggest sequel launches and over a million players played online which was Halo 2 back in 2004, it may have had a disappointing ending but its multiplayer was the strongest point. Over in Japan it wasn't selling well and wasn't that popular unlike the Playstation 2 but in the US and Europe it was still selling well on its sales.

Xbox360PriceCuts.jpg

During November and December 2005 Microsoft released its second console which was the Xbox 360, still competing with the Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii as of from now, the 360 has had some up and down moments on its consoles including its great line up of games like Halo 3 and Call of Duty. But there have been some downhill moments including its Red-Ring of Death and the Xbox Kinect not recognising your voice or moments on a certain amount of games that were released for it. It still had its strong online multiplayer and its DVD/Music which you could still use and a compatibility system which let you play a few Xbox games on a 360 console.

With E3 2013 on its way and of course Microsofts announcement on Tuesday what will be the future for the Xbox? Will it still stay strong with an iron fist or will it slowly go downhill?

So I think I'm getting slightly better at first-person shooters.  Bioshock was good training apart from the unforgettable experience and, although I'm still getting fragged more often that I would care to admit, I feel as if I'm getting the basics down pat to survive a full fifteen minutes or more.  I only now just need to work on ammo conservation and not haphazardly shooting everything that moves.... and missing my targets 45% of the time.

Of course, I wanted to go further than Bioshock, so I decided to try Resistance. I picked up all three Resistance games for my PS3 a few days ago, and have been playing the original Resistance practically non-stop.  Resistance is certainly an old-school kind of first-person shooter, and nothing like all the third-person shooters I'm a bit more accustomed to.   It's more challenging than Bioshock because the Chimera come in many different flavors and are far more aggressive.  For a PS3 game, Resistance looks a little dated, and understandably so seeing how the game was released around the time of the PS3's first cycle; made even more apparent by the utter lack of Trophy support.  Still though, as of this writing, I'm near the end of the game and hoping to start up Resistance 2.

No leapfrogging this franchise for me.   I didn't want a repeat from Assassin's Creed---even though that game is vastly different in every way from a first-person shooter like Resistance.  Storywise, I want to enjoy the games spoiler-free and, so far, it's pretty intriguing.

ssd

The next game in line for me possibly is Killzone.  I understand there are three games in the series, like Resistance, and almost similar in style and substance.  But Killzone has you shooting soldiers, not aliens, and it's far more grittier.  Even though I do not typically buy first-person shooters on the PS3, these two franchises are solid Sony-exclusives that I couldn't ignore.  A good thing I waited, too, because Killzone's dead-cheap.  If you've played Killzone before and have varying opinions, let me know.  In fact, if you can recommend other good FPSes for either the PS3 or the 360, I'm open to suggestions!

Thanks for reading.  Now it's high time that I finished my business with the Chimera.

I just wanted to jump on here and thank you all for your support recently. Some of you may have seen the report on MCV -- if you haven't, please check it out. Loads of people have since been in touch with some very kind messages, mostly expressing their opinions on what happened, and what's happening to GameSpot UK in general. The GameSpot UK Podcast page offers some particularly interesting feedback, all of which I've been paying very close attention to.

Subsequently, a lot of people have been in touch asking what I'm up to now. The last couple of weeks have been really exciting -- I've put out the first episode of my new weekly podcast, which not only reunited me with Jane Douglas, Lucy James and Dan Maher, but also went to number one on the iTunes chart. I've also been busy writing for Wired, appearing on BBC and Sky News, and updating my YouTube channel with new videos. In the next few weeks I'll be sitting on a BAFTA games journalsim debate, interviewing Rhianna Pratchett at the Hay Festival, talking about the next Xbox on CNN and BBC, and of course heading out to E3. If you're going to be attending any of those events, please say hi, and if not, I look forward to hearing from you over on my website or on Twitter. There's loads more coming down the line, but for now, please let me know what you think! See you all again soon.

How have you all been doing? I know you didn't miss me but I kinda did XD. Yeah I know it's been a little while when I gave a blog post but I tried to be a little active on your blogs.

So I'll just get to this quickly as I need to ask you guys something cool so I'll just make it quick what I've been doing.

So I've been playing BioShock Infinity on 360 lately and been enjoying it. I'm not a FPS fan but that game is a different kind of FPS which even made me interested in it and it's the only FPS that I've enjoyed after MW3 . Also I've been playing Injustice and it's awesome. I really enjoyed powning Superman.

I've also been playing Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 on my Vita and it's one of the best Vita games out there. I'm glad I got my hands on it as its hard to find it here.

Also I've been playing many games on my iPhone 5. It's been dead for many months now. I mean I don't do anything on it and I felt kinda bad that after getting such an awesome smart phone I don't do anything with it so I bought many games from app store lately.

1. NFS Most Wanted:

It's really an awesome game on iPhone. One of the best car racing game.

2. Sonic Jump:

Good time pass for a 2D game when your bored of everything.

3. Sonic Dash:

It's good and it's in 3D but it's not really how I thought it would be when I got it.

4. Amazing Spider Man:

It's really cool and for an iPhone game it's really big.

5. Rayman Run:

Really cool game like Rayman Origins. I've been enjoying a lot playing it.

6. Angry Birds Friends:

It's an online game lol, Can't play it with out it.

7. Injustice:

First I can't believe it's for iPhone and then its free . It's not as good as the console version but it looks so much exetly the same.

8. Iron Man 3:

It was also free and that's kinda weird. It was good but super hard.

9. The Dark Knight Rises:

I have to say, Batman owns on iPhone as well. It's really awesome and kinda like other Batman Arkhem games.

So that proves I've been doing more gaming on my iPhone.

Okay now to the last thing to talk about. Well I've got a research paper to make and submit soon and I am kinda confused about it as I choosed a weird topic. My topic is "Video games have changed our lives". Now I don't know why I choosed it but  I was too lazy to think of anything at that time so I choosed this XD. Now I want to know that we all are gamers here and I want to know that how video games have changed your lives. It's really a serious question and will help me a lot with my project so please everyone tell me from the core of your heart.

I'll be going now have lot to do. You guys takecare of your selves.

Byezzzzzzz

My choice? Harmony of Dissonance. I chose it because it got a lot of praise, but a lot of fans pan it because of it's easy difficulty, sub-par music, and overall feel of it trying to be Symphony of the Night and ultimately failing.

I've put about an hour and a half into it now and I'm actually enjoying it. It's much, MUCH easier than Circle of the Moon, but not as difficult as Aria of Sorrow. A few of the bosses are somewhat challenging, but move somewhat slow and have easier patterns to learn than most Castlevania bosses.

My only complaints with the game so far is the music and the character animations. Castlevania is known for its excellent music, so much that even less than stellar titles have fantastic music. It's one of the many things the series prides itself on. So when I started up the game and heard this  it made me cringe a bit. Seriously, the GBA can do A LOT better than this sound wise. It does have a few memorable songs that aren't bad, but for the most part you won't want to listen to the OST.

As for the character animations, well...you'll just have to watch some of this. If you don't feel like watching the video the best way to describe the animations is "cartoony", especially the walk style for the main character. It just doesn't fit the style of Castlevania and it just feels off. Most of the enemy animations are nice and smooth, but the main character's and other people you meet along the way just looks silly. It shouldn't bother me so much, but it does.

If you're a Castlevania fan I do recommend this game because you will enjoy it as long as you don't compare it to Aria of Sorrow, Symphony of the Night, or any of the other metroidvania games.

A lot of drama and less gaming Im afraid; which was one of the main reasons my progress has come to a temporary halt no females, no gaming, just real life problems that snuck in and cradled me into despair and treachery. So to those wondering Im fine things are getting better. My uncle passed away on Friday May 17, 2013 at 10:30 PM I was the last one to see him before his fight against cancer was a loss cause. He was 49 and the doctors said at his old age and fighting for twenty years it might be the end of what may seem like a second chance. It hurts but it has been the main reason why I havent been blogging or anything. So for your time for reading this I say thank you. But, real life everything is fine. Just been really sad about my Uncle for the past three months.

My reaction to the comments in my last blog

Heya fellow Gamespotters.

I deleted some of my old reviews a while ago because they were atrocious. I ended up rewriting my review for Catherine (I am allowed to do that right?) and I think its much better. I also wrote a brand new review for Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory, which I finished a while ago. If you feel like it, give 'em a read.

Catherine

Neptunia V

Any kind of feedback or constructive criticism would be appreciated. When I'm done with them, I'll be writing reviews for Tales of the Abyss and Disgaea 4 as well.

Also, did you notice I changed my banner? I really liked my old Neptune banner. But I was tired of people commenting on her chest size. Okay, maybe it was only two people plus the one person that liked the comment. But its still annoying as hell. They acted like my banner negated whatever I was talking about in my blog. Her chest was the very last thing I was focused on. I thought the picture was pretty and it'd be cool to put "Lucky's Blog" between her hands and use it as a banner (the original image looked like this by the way).

Oh well. I like this new one too. Its Katherine from Catherine. I snagged the image from the wiki then added the "cartoon" filter on Gimp. Then I slapped text on it and put it up there. One day I hope to create something fancier. But for now, this is all I can really do. What do you guys think of it?

Anywaaaaay, I'm off to fold clothes and take a shower. Next blog will either be a serious editorial concerning a comment I read in the forum about kids and M rated games or one about dating T-rexs.

......................

Please don't ask.......

If this is the first time you've read one of these, then I should warn you that neither good formatting nor even coherency in the content published today are priorities for me. With that out of the way, let's move on to the main attraction of the blog post! ^.^

384575_zpsbf7c514c.jpg

  • I've only very recently finished submitting most of my university coursework.
  • Things got 'interesting' when some of the students I had been assigned to work with as part of a group project started trying to do other people's jobs.
  • That last one's a long story. And I do mean long.
  • Literally only yesterday did I discover that a certain GameSpot user I met about a week ago is actually an editor for a gaming website that I signed up to after an old friend suddenly reappeared out of nowhere and made a blog post.
  • Here's a link to the aforementioned site: http://leetgamers.asia/

WalkureRomanzefull848835_zps8d18ed92.jpg

  • One of my university assignments requires me to submit footage depicting a playthrough of a level I made in a game engine.
  • In order to do that, I bought FRAPS.
  • This means I am also now in a position tro start doing some of those 'Let's Plays' I mentioned in a blog post some time ago.
  • By 'some' I mean those which pertain to games I own on PC - I'm not yet in a good position to be recording console games
  • Here's a link to my Steam profile: http://steamcommunity.com/id/76561198052495745
  • Feel free to browse my games and let me know if there's anything that you might be interested in watching me Let's Play
  • Using the phrase 'Let's Play' as a verb and a noun feels weird

Konachancom-156667flyable_heartlong_hair

  • Eating snow makes me all thirsty and liquidated.
  • This is not helped by the fact that I eat things inside out without listening to myself first.
  • I am now experiencing the strange and sudden urge to buy the PC version of Supreme Commander, mainly because my only experience with the game to date has been with the somewhat flawed console port.
  • I'm listening to a track from the Supreme Commander OST right now while I'm writing this.
  • There had been an instance in which the game froze after three bombers exploded on top of one another, while I had the map zoomed as far out as it could go before the unit icons appear
  • I could be wrong about the 'unit icons' part, I just remember that I could still see the individual units and explosions... and that my game crashed
  • I also remember that I spent a significant period of time building a bunch of base defences in preparation for an oncoming attack, only for the Cybrans' tanks to roll right over them and leave my base in pieces
  • Supreme Commander 2 has remained installed on my computer ever since I bought the thing during a Steam sale last year
  • Despite this, it has also remained completely untouched
  • ...

Konachancom-157959brown_eyesbrown_haircl

  • I'm so sorry! I forgot to add in an image earlier! It's entirely my fault that those bullet points drag on!
  • Having bought FRAPS, I obviously had to make sure that it worked.
  • For that reason, my YouTube channel was recently updated with three recording test videos.
  • I had to record this one while playing in fullscreen, as I seemed to be unable to record anything as long as the game was running in windowed mode.

[ Watch Video ]

  • Spending a long time at the computer has caused to experience to some bad back, arm, leg and chest pains
  • In an older entry, I mentioned a certain gaming site that I very briefly wrote for.
  • I've recently received a message from one of the site's editors asking me why I chose to quit.
  • Knowing the way things are done around there, I know there are strings attached to this.
  • If there's one thing I've learned from spending time there, it's that one should never take anything said by the site's staff at face value.
  • I could go on for a lot longer about that site, but I won't. Let's just wait and see what tricks they have up their sleeve this time...

Fate-ZeroSaber-Arturia-PendragonArcher-G

  • This blog post was originally going to be quite different, but I ended up forgetting half the stuff I wanted to put in it, so it ended up like this instead.
  • To compensate for that, I'm going to leave you with a pair of videos in which some guys discover just how broken GTA IV's physics really are.

Part 1:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2W28xBHMKpo

Part 2:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4XK4F7aOnvw

Oh, and one last thing: these videos may not prove it's possible to die from walking into a lamppost, but they do prove it's possible to die from leaning over the bonnet of a car.

I was going to rate some games, maybe visit the forums and check Fuse after writing this, but it's 4:00am, my sleeping patterns aren't exactly at their best at the moment and the lack of sleep has clearly taken its toil on my ability to remember what I originally wanted to put in this blog entry. So for that reason, I'm off to bed. I haven't even been checking any of the 'personal' stuff on this site over the last few days, I've just been pretending to read GS' reviews for the XP. I can check everything else tomorrow.

Alchemist is sleepy now. He'll speak with you again when he isn't sitting in front of his computer, half-asleep. Goodnight. ^.^

Enjoy!

- While exploring the city, you may encounter someone offering free hugs. The offer may sound tempting, but be aware that the person giving you the hug will in fact demand payment afterward. Also, after getting your hug, it's probably a good idea to take a very thorough shower when you return to your hotel.

- There are plenty of landmarks in New York that you'll want to take pictures of. Remember to spend as much time as possible taking your picture. That way, all the people waiting for the flash to go off on your camera will lose patience and walk in front of you just as you take your photo. Its a great way to get lots of picture of people's heads!

- The Empire State Building is a popular tourist destination. When traveling to the Empire State Building, be sure and get right in front of it before asking a random passer by where the Empire State Building is. Seeing a New Yorker sigh and point upward is a priceless tourist experience.

- If you get a phone call while walking through New York, don't bother moving off to the corner of some building before taking your call. Instead, stop and take your call right in the middle of the sidewalk. This will help keep all the people walking behind you on their toes. It will also give people a nice obstacle to maneuver around, livening up their journey.

- Manhattan is a big place, and it can be hard to know your way around. If you're on 32nd street and want to know where 35th street is, feel free to ask a random passer by for assistance. Be sure and act astonished when told it's 3 blocks away.

- Even if English isn't your first language, you may find yourself talking to some New Yorkers you've just met in English. If you're with some friends from your native country, feel free to stop speaking English in the middle of this conversation and talk to your friends in your native language, as if the New Yorkers you were just speaking with aren't there any more. We find that endearing.

- There are plenty of great stores in New York, so why not buy a video game while youre here? The people behind you in line will enjoy listening to the clerk ask you if you're going to take this game out of the country, and then explain what region locking is.

- The subway is a great way to get around New York, but don't be in a hurry to get to the subway platform. Instead, stop for no apparent reason right in front of the steps to the platform. Watching people try and squeeze through the narrow passageway you've created in order to avoid being late for work is an experience every tourist should enjoy.

- While riding the subway, be sure and blast any music you may like at full volume, so the whole car can hear it. After all, keeping that music to yourself would be rude.

I hope this helps any potential NYC tourists out there

Terraria-steam-wiki.png.jpg

The game is currently less than a cup of overpriced coffee (3.39) and worth every penny! We'll make a server and dig down to the depths to see if we can enter hard mode!

The deal is only going until 4:00 PM PST today.

To sweeten the deal if we can get 50 people to sign up and participate in this two part game night I will make us an emblem.

MadElk will be assisting with the server, I will be posting details about how to join later this evening. Unless of course he decides to grace us with his presence and inform us in the comments.

We'll be using a chatzy room for communication up until the event happens, then we'll be moving to a group steam chat.

I haven't gotten very far in, I'm trying to understand the map and have resorted to stealing cars for the car challenge while I try to figure out whats going on.  I've also stumbled across a few collectibles too, you know the ones.

I can't say my impressions are too detailed at this point.  The controls for driving are more intuitive than I expected and the shooting mechanics are good as well.  The story hasn't drawn me in just yet, so I may go for the main story mission and try to understand what I'm seeing on the map.  I'm treating this like a GTA game and I probably shouldn't.  I've always found collecting all the extras first gets you started better.  I haven't figured out how to clear the shields and I'm not sure what the pink stars are.  Considering I have the guide, this is just me not bothering to flip through it at this point.  I do like the customisation for the character, but I might change it already.

 charmander on plane

I also added another review, in case anyone saw the free app of the week last week at Starbucks, it was Where's Perry.  A fun game, and since it was free, that much more enjoyable.  My sister leaves for Bosnia today (she works for the State department).  I can't say I'll miss her as much as I'll miss my neice, who invites her 2 yr old self into my room and claims all things in it are 'mine.'  It is adorable as all get out, until she touches the charmander.  I bought her a charmander and flew it out to AZ when they lived there.  They stuffed him in a box and sent him to Bosnia.  Anyway, /ramble.
