After all, while some announcements make us burst with excitement for what is to come, certain absences leave us either disappointed or simply wondering where in the world a few franchises are. No other company produces this reaction as much as Nintendo, for the company has a very impressive amount of properties to deal with, and no economically reasonable amount of development studios could possibly handle it all properly. The result is that a core group of high-selling hardware-moving franchises are released periodically, while - on the other hand - an even bigger array equally beloved characters and games are naturally either waiting in line be developed, or exist - unbeknownst to us in a not-yet-presentable state, as projects that will soon be revealed to the world.

9057136367_d213e358ce_o.jpg

Although the Wii U iteration of The Legend of Zelda was undoubtedly the biggest no-show, not only was its absence expected, but Zelda fans can comfortably rest assured that the game exists in some form. Therefore, that fact makes Samus Aran receive the unfortunate title of most unfortunate absence. Metroid Other M - her latest adventure - is about to reach its three-year anniversary and, if an extra spice of drama is needed, it can be argued by those who did not enjoy Other M - a very polarizing software - that the hunter's last greatest affair dates back all the way to 2007. While Mario and Link's outings for the two current-gen Nintendo platforms are either already out there or imminent, Metroid has yet to be discussed for any of the systems.

Still, Samus is by far not the most serious case of a character that is nowhere to be seen. Both Fox McCloud and Captain Falcon are far more rusty. Star Fox fans got a little bone thrown their way in 2011 when a remake of the franchise's best game (Star Fox 64) was released for the 3DS, but an original game of the series has not shown up since 2006, and if the struggling grounds on which Star Fox was back then are considered, then its seven-year disappearance can be seen as either quite worrisome, or as a needed break for a property that was having a hard time finding its identity. F-Zero, on the contrary, found its very peak on 2003's Sega-developed F-Zero GX, but ever since then, all we received was an average handheld for then long-gone Game Boy Advance. Opposite to popular opinion, Miyamoto has already stepped up to express his dislike towards the way F-Zero GX was done, even if it still holds as one of the finest racing games ever. Yet, it is impossible not to wonder if the game is not the yet-to-be-revealed title to be born out of Nintendo and Sega's recently announced partnership.

9059361718_9454e50977_o.jpg

For those who like to dig even further back in time, and have hope on the extremely unlikely, Wave Race could be put among the franchises that were missing. Differently from the aforementioned ones, though, the aquatic racing series is not exactly frequently discussed among fans, and it is not the subject of many questions when Iwata, Reggie or Miyamoto are being interviewed. Differently from Kirby, though; the pink puffball is not among fans' most universally hyped franchises, as some feel its lack of difficulty makes its games rather little engaging. However, after starring on last generation's Epic Yarn, one of the Wii's most beautiful and beloved titles, there is a certain degree of anticipation in finding out what is the next step for the character. That question, however, will remain unanswered for a while as Kirby was another no-show. One thing is for sure, though; with the announcement of Yoshi Yarn, it becomes more probable that Kirby will not retain its art direction, as it seems that the yarn experiment will move between franchises, instead of being exclusive.

Whatever disappointment is created by the no-show of these and many other franchises is not hopeless. On the contrary, it will likely serve as some sort of fuel for many upcoming E3, because some of those characters are absolute locks to eventually show up during the course of rest of the generation. It is not like our long-awaited re-encounter with them will not occur, it has simply been delayed.

Creating a video game Is the most enjoyable Art that make my soul fly, this Is my dream job I enjoy It, I have started Computer Graphic to create Art and share It with other people who enjoy art so that we all enjoy! lol

I am reaching to a good point that I am getting ready to make a real Game that I have In my mind, and this summer we will have something to show, the game Is not ready we are at the first Stage,

Let me talk about how I gathered our team and started making this game,

Well my friends I have met some really good people on Game Spot, and I knew making a video game should be a team work, so I find those friends on Game Spot who are In Art and hardcore gamers, I asked them, their facebook account, then I created a Group on face book, the name at first was Orc Production, but others didn't like It we changed It to Mad Eye Studio,

Orc Production

So for MAd Eye I started making a banner this Is the final Result

Mad Eye Studio

Mad Eye Studio

I learned lots of stuff now these Drawing are the first stages!

Those Days I had finished Red Dead Redemption and I thought let us make a Wilde West RPG game, then I started writing Its story thinking about the levels days and nights, I discussed It with the members we shaped the story.

You Can Read It Here It's just something for our group just a summary and It's still cloudy!

***SPOILER***

We came up with some names Like There Will be Blood, Bloodshed, The Fall....We still don't know what suits the game

Examples

This Is David Work and he shared It In the Group

And These are some speed paintings Less than 2 hours each that I have done for the game, for making the environments and atmosphere

There Will be Blod

Some Info about the Picture: "So this Is our first Drawing about the game story and atmosphere, this Is years after they slaughtered our character family and he came back for revenge, this hill was one favorite place of his farm where he and his family usually went on picnic and his daughter loved to swing, There will be blood."

The Farm

Info about this one: "Did another Speed Painting about 1 hour I have to tell you Speed Painting Is Fun!

This Farm Is my character Farm for the game things are not going well...the farm can't grow stuff our character Is going to sell It in exchange of one old Mine...
"

Our Group right now Is not that Active and our members are not qualified enough to start making the Game, so I told them Until I make the concept arts and sketching Increase your skills, Honestly I can make the game alone It just takes more time, I like to make this one withing a team, but If the Team Is not Qualified enough I don't want to lower the game quality for that!

We have all the tools that pro developers are using so our game should be one great game, I my self am studying Unreal Engine 3 free version UDK and I have more than 5 books, more than 100gig video tutorials about that and things are going pretty good but little slow In Time this game will be finish.

Here Is a Practice (making a simple level with UDK with pre made game assets) I have done for learning Unreal Engine 3 nothing so special but let me share It!

The Armory

All I want from you guys Is that fallow Us, support Us, be our fan whenever we reached to a good point to show the game share It with your friends, Download our game, We will be so grateful by that, We will make a website for the game or a blog, with details I will post updated here just remember to support Us cause we really need your help and this game will be free, and no charge for used games loool!

At the End of this summer at least I will be able to finish the whole Concept Arts and character and Environment Creation, the rigging and Animation, Programming stuff I guess will take more time maybe at the end of next spring It will be finish, Recently I'm playing Skyrim a lot lol I have changed my mind to make this game a RPG I want to give the player at least 30 hours game play so I think time Is not that Important, a good quality here Is Important.

One last thing guys before final game, I will release both and Alpha (tests for technical stuff, changing the character,... can be done here) and a Beta (testing for Bugs) and I will ask you guys to try It, give me your feedbacks to make this game better!

Alright I think you guys will be tired to read more let me post another blog for E3 talk and stuff maybe tomorrow !

Thanks for reading.

~Makan

I have been extremely inactive on this site, and I really want to return but I can never quite find the time. I even missed my long-anticipated Metal Gear Rising review...But it's all for the best.

Over the last two years I have turned my life into garbage. I completley lost sight of my morals and did alot of things I regret. I lost myself. I never really mentioned it until now, but I am everyday now filled with regret and a obsessive strive to make my life right. That is what I promised myself July 2012, that I would change the person I was, into someone I'm proud to be.

I'm happy to say that on May 22, 2013, that dream may finally come true.

I don't want to get into detail on what exactly I have done to make me regret so much...But I am more than glad to tell you all how far I've risen above my old ways. Okay well, maybe I'm exaggerating a bit, but hey, this is just how I feel about actually doing something I'm proud of.

I used to have disregard for the law, telling myself the things I was doing "were not that bad". But then I finally came to relize what a corrupt person it had made me, and I swore myself to change. And for the most part, I've stuck to it.

However, I have one final challange to overcome before I can be fully redeemed and proud of myself- The 9th grade finals. As it stands right now, I'm making all B's. I'm just very nervous that these tests will make-or-break me in terms of my grades. So perhaps I can be all self-centered and sit around and tell you guys to cheer me on? Well actually that sounds quite nice xD. But in all seriousness guys, wish me luck. Passing this year means the world to me..

I've also said this atleast 37 billion times but...I do intend on being much more active on Gamespot in the near future, but right now I have much more important tasks to acomplish. Also I really should do my Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance review soon since I'm like two months late 0_0

But more importantly, I should really really get back to studying for my permit test tommorow!

Anyway guys, wish me luck!

And Stay Healthy!

If this smallform-factor PC does come into production, it will be owning a piece of history. Much like owning an Apple computer in some circles is a status symbol. But Apple products are extremely expensive. Large groups out on the interwebs have been building hackintosh's for the last couple of years with great success and great amounts of money being saved. This gave me the idea: Has anyone hackintoshedan oldish version of one of Xi3's small PC's, and if so - do you guys know of that persons project website?

Tue, 11 Dec 2012 06:34:26 -0800 lazyhoboguy writes: Rage PS3 http://www.gamespot.com/users/lazyhoboguy/show_blog_entry.php?topic_id=m-100-26000222 So I got Rage and a bunch of other games for cheap during a cyber monday deal from toysrus.com. I paid 9 bucks for rage. Some of my friends were b*tching and moaning at me for getting it because they really disliked it. I knew it had problems, but I was too curious to try it since ID made it.

After playing it about 3 or 4 hours, it feels like Rage could have been a great game, but was rushed out and the games length was padded out with boring pointless things.

The game tries to do many things imo. It has typical linear first person shooting level which are a lot of fun. The weapons are fun to use, the enemies ai is pretty smart as they will jump around, use cover well, and will often rush at you. The problem with the game is that these shooting levels are so infrequent in the game. Rage consists of lots of pointless driving in a vehicle from town to town. You leave one town, drive for a few minutes to another, talk to a guy, drive back to the other town, drive to a quick fetch mission, drive back to a town, drive to the other town..... After about 30 minutes of doing that boring crap you finally might get lucky and get to do a linear style first person shooter level for about 15 minutes. The vehicle sections are so pointless. You drive straight back and forth between towns and there is no real open world. You pretty much drive in a straight line. There are random enemies you encounter, but there is no point to fight them, as your vehicle's ammo is depletable and you will have rebuy it. It makes more sense just to drive fast and avoid the enemies. So you just drive pointlessly between every mission in a straight line for no good reason.

The pointless driving back and forth between towns might be more bearable if the game wasnt riddled with frequent very long loading screens. Every time you leave a town there is a loading screen, once you reach another town there is a loading screen. If you enter any other area in the game there is another loading screen. It really gets annoying after awhile. The game feels as if you spend about half the time driving pointelssly between areas or waiting on loading screens.

Another problem is that the textures in this game never ever fully load. It's the weirdest thing I've ever seen in a game. The textures take 10 seconds to load in front of you, but they never stay loaded forever. The textures only load in your direct field of view, but have to reload every time you turn away and turn back. Its like you have tunnel vision and textures only load where you can see, but it's only temporary. You can even see the textures loading every time when you look down the sights of your gun. It's really really distracting. I guess though it better that they did this than making the frame rate really crappy. The game does run pretty smoothly, and enemy animations looks really good.

I was haing fun with Rage at first since it started off with typical first person shooting action, but then the majority of the time in the game turned into fetch quests, and pointless traveling back and forth every few minutes. I think the game would have been a lot better if they simly made it linear first person shooter. They should have just scrapped the driving sections and the little towns where you can talk to people. ID is know for making linear shooters and I think they should have just stuck with that formula.

I guess one good thing about the game is that John Goodman does some voiceacting in it. After about a hour or so of gameplay though you don't hear from him anymore. Also, there is a doom style space marine bobblehead on the dashboard of John Goodman's characters car in the opening cut scene which was cool heh. Another stupid cool thing about the game is when you crash on an atv into a wall or something. Your body launches into the air while you hear a hilarious scream and watch the ragdoll physics as your body bounces around the environment.

Gamespot isn't what it used to be. This site used to be awesome, with a comment system that wasn't annoying, unions where you don't have to post several times to make your message appear, and pages that actually loaded on the first try (not the SEVENTH).

The only reason I've stayed on this site is for my friends in the Catz Clan, and we've finally decided to leave for a Zeta Board, the Catz Clan Sanctuary. It works MUCH better.

So, with there being no further need for this place, I'm leaving.

I never actually thought I would be saying that. I've been here for nearly four years, and in that time I've met some of the most awesome people I've ever had the pleasure of talking to (along with fat guy with a foot fetish).

But, with having all of them in a nice new location that to post in, there really is no further purpose for this website.

Actually, I'm still going to use this site for posting reviews I write and keeping track of my game collection, but as far as communication goes, I can't stand this site anymore.

If anyone wants, you may join our Sanctuary. We don't really talk about Cats, going against the title, so what we DO talk about is...random sh*t, pretty much.

Gamespot, it has been a good run. I shall miss the good ole' days, but I'm glad to finally be rid of you.

Goodbye, Home Skillets.

However, that appears not to be the case and I'm being offered a ranger position. I feel like I'm being punished for something that was out of my control in the first place. I hate to say this but there is too much BS associated with this site anymore. Provenby the fact that no one has bothered to respond to my PMs or emails, so I realize now I'm on the back burner and have been for a while. So if I'm not appreciated then so long. Also, I have NO money to eat, let alone for video games. I also have very little time being a full time college student. Not to mention the personal problems I've been having lately.

I might stop by from time to time to talk to my long time friends, but other than that I'm gone.

But let's cut to the chase. I haven't visited GS in a looooong time. At least, that's how it feels to me. I look back on these past few months and think it has been a long time, when in reality, a few months isn't a long length of time at all.

I've finally graduated High School, have been accepted college, I've got a job for the summer, and I'm ready to go to school in the fall. I'm really, really looking forward to it.

For the past year or so, I have been looking forward to this moment with such anticipation, and it's almost here. However, one thing that I didn't expect to happen, did in fact, happen. Soon after graduation, I realized how much I'm going to miss the people in my life. Family, friends, acquaintances, my pets.. I will not see any of them, for a time. My school is by no means far away from home, but even still.. Any distance away from home can still feel far.

I guess it was a sort-of revelation to me. I wasn't expecting the idea of leaving home to hit me hard, but it did. Only time will tell how I deal with the situation come late August, when I leave. One thing is for sure, though.. I need to stay away from Toy Story 3. It's so sad but an amazing movie.

There's so much I could write here, but compiling all of my thoughts into words has never been a specialty of mine, and I feel like I've said too much already. I hope you all are well. To be honest, I doubt I'll be visiting here much at all after this. I'd like to thank everyone here who has been here to talk to me, ask how I'm feeling, and just simply be there for me to vent to. Having a blog to let your thoughts and feelings flow is a great thing, but for now I just don't have the encouragement to keep writing.

I'll check up on you guys now and then, but like I said, it won't be nearly as often. I wish you all the best and thank you, again. It means a whole lot to me that you guys have been there for me these past four years.

I still go on Facebook now and then, so if you'd like to add me online there, I'd happily accept the request. Just PM me and I'll send a link to my profile your way. I'll be checking on here for a few days to see what you guys have to say, and then I'll be on my way.

Thanks again everyone, I'm really fortunate to have met all of you fine Gamespotters.

- Matt

I still need to get about 6 lorestones and do a couple of things that I didn't try for my first go around like parrying and pickpocketing. Overall it was a very fun game. 9/10.

Dead Island's price dropped so I finally had a co-op partner and decided to pick it up. I played as Xian, sharp weapons specialist. Overall the game was a lot of fun, though it did have its fair share of issues. The game froze a lot, especially when riding in a vehicle. Also it was hard to connect to a co-op partner sometimes, it wouldn't recognize they were online, and we had to keep signing in and out of PSN. And one of the most annoying things that happened is when we started new game + it wasn't giving experience for turning in quests. But technical issues aside, the gameplay is entertaining. At some points it reminded me of Borderlands with the randomized weapons and waiting around at shops to change inventory. (Can't wait for Borderlands 2, btw) I did enjoy the game more than Dead Rising, so that's a plus. 8.5/10.

And lastly, Diablo III. I don't have a lot to say about it yet, since I didn't play the beta, but I'll be playing it in 2 days : )

Off to see Avengers now... Happy gaming!

Why of Course You Can! http://www.gamespot.com/users/Goyoshi12/show_blog_entry.php?topic_id=m-100-25978943 I'd like to take this blog oppertunity to be a bit of an informer today because I learned of something quite interesting yesterday in the PC Fourms and if you haven't heard then you're lucky to be my friend because I will tell you so that you don't miss it because I love you all; now don't take that too seriously.

So...anyone heard of Fallout? That post appocalyptic future RPG? Created by Black Isle and is (next to the sequel Fallout 2) considered one of the greatest RPGs of all time? The game that makes Fallout 3 (according to another fourm...won't say which one but you could probably guess *cough* SW *cough*) look like a joke? No? Well...it's just that post appocalyptic future RPG created by Black Isle and is considered to be one of the greatest RPGs of all time and makes Bethesda's Fallout 3 to some look like a joke.

This so called "masterpiece of a game" apparently just went free (yes...FREE. F.R.E.E) on GOG for the weekend. So get it whie it lasts and even if you have Fallout on disc already I say just get it anyways because discs break...believe me...I know from experience.

A fascinating deal, I must say, one that could put Steam to shame. I rember way back when I came to this site (three years ago...HOW BOUT DAT $#!+!?) that I was just getting caught up on quite a lot of things like GOTY awards for previous years and such and during the 2009 GOTY Awards on GS they allowed the users a chance to go back in time and see the 2008 GOTY winner (Spoiler: It was Metal Gear Solid 4) and one of the runner ups was a "little" game called Fallout 3. The videos of the game were fascinating and drew me into the dark world and I wanted to learn more of this appocalyptic game. In fact, it also won IGN's GOTY in 2008 over Metal Gear even though IGN practically LUSTED over the game; saying things like "if we could give a game an 11/10 this would be it," and all that nonsense.

Paraphrasing of course but the message still stands that they REALLY liked MGS4 and to see Fallout 3 turn on Vats, shoot Snake in the head with a Lincoln Repeater, and come in and take its place as IGN's GOTY is truly a shock. Yet, as some call it, the "Mos Eisley of GameSpot" said otherwise against the game with claims that I am too lazy to look up for but let's just say they thought the game to be boring, a little broken, and a weak entry in the venerable series. These words got me interested in the games that came before and, as a matter of fact, were what got me into Morrowind. Oblivion, Skyrim, and Fallout 3 looked so completely imppecable and totally AWESOME from videos. How could people talk smack of them? What blasphemy is this!? How good can these past games be?

Well, Morrowind I can CERTAINLY say has MANY features that make it a one of a kind masterpiece and hearing the complaints I can see how it can still after 10 years rise over it's successors and still stand the test of time. Still, questions are left for me to discover...how is Oblivion and Skyrim to me? I played the "first" and am pretty far in to give an opinion so how will the successors work for me? Will I be a crodigy old cynic and look down with detest against Skyrim and Oblivion or will I not care and have a great time and call them each one of a kind to all. Same thing for the Fallout series. This deal, like my Morrowind gift, shall be the start of my descent into a new RPG world. Will I like what I see or pull out to the new and fresh?

Only I and I alone show see that for myself. Anyways, in the mean time, you all have fun with this deal and your memories of Fallout while I begin mine. I've got a good feeling about these games...no turning back now...for war....war never changes.

Goodbye GameSpot friends, wish me luck in this "old" age war.

I wanted to write about this subject last week, but I had so much work to do on my Master's research.

I know that this subject will cause a lot of controversy. Please remember that this is my opinion, you may like and you may not, either way let me know what you think.

There are a few games and franchises, which I think are overrated or over-hyped. I am going to list them alphabetically and will state my reasons as well.

1- Bayonetta: Totally overrated. Weak story, poor graphics, and ugly voice acting. The action in this game is so fast that sometimes I had no idea what was happening on the screen. I didn't like it at all.

2- Brutal Legend: Poor graphics, tedious gameplay, annoying sound track and an unbelievable story. Totally overrated.

3- Call of Duty (franchise): Don't get me wrong, I loved Modern Warfare when it first came out, but since then, every call of duty is the same. The same engine, the same mechanics and even the same plot over and over. What bothers me the most, is that reviewers use COD as a standard for comparison. Every FPS is compared to COD in some way, and every time COD has to win. I am telling you COD is not even that good. Many FPSs were underrated because of it, andthat is wrong. I know the game has a massive multiplayer mode, but that's it. Battlefield and Medal of honor are better franchises in my opinion.

4- Dead Rising (franchise): Poor concept, repetitive gameplay. You kill zombies and save civilians. That's it. Overrated.

5- God of War (franchise): This franchise is so overrated and over-hyped. I know, I know, God of War III was a technical achievement; the graphics, the scale, but that's it. The other games in the franchise are the same, the only difference is the boss encounters. Why would reviewers compare every action game to GOW, I have no clue. Why is it considered as a standard, I have no clue either. In my opinion Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, and Dante's inferno were better than GOW3. Both were compared to GOD3 and then underrated.

6- Prototype: Where do I start? I don't think this game belonged to this generation of consoles. It should have been released on the PS2 and the XBOX. The concept of the game is very good, but it was delivered poorly. Graphics belong to the past generation, gameplay is tedious and confusing. What really bothers me is that inFAMOUS was compared to it in many reviews, while there is a huge difference between both games.

I would like to continue, there are many gmes that I would like to mention but Idon't wantthe blog to be long and boring. If you liked this blog and would like to read more about overrated games, please let me know.

Please remember, this is my opinion. Some of you will agree, many will not. Either way, please let me know what you think and why?

Are there any overrated "over-hyped" games that you would add to this list?

Thank you for reading.

Peace!
