NOW! Onto the games!

Battlefield 4 (for PS4)

This game is looking very nice and I love the destructible environments. There will also be 64 players TDM.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 (for PC)

This game and Lords of Shadow 1 will be coming out on PC too with upgraded graphics etc. SO, I will be getting them just so I can use mods to play as characters from past series =D. The game itself looks great too.

Dark Souls II (for PS3)

This game is looking great. I loved the first game, one of the few games I actually platinumed on my PS3. Not sure whether to get it for PS3 or PC but will see when the time comes

Destiny (for PS4)

This game looks quite impressive. Next gen seems to be all about the online aspect and this game seems to be heading that charge. I'm not the biggest FPS fan but the lore and detail of the world is intriguing. Also, Peter Dinklage voices a character!

Final Fantasy XV (for PS4)

So, this was obviously going to be on my list. The graphics look great, the gameplay looks very tight and responsive and there seems to be an interesting Romeo and Juliet but with mafia and magic story going on. This game is a must buy for me.

Infamous: Second Son

Infamous 1 was great. One of the few games I have platinumed. I have yet to play the second but I hear only good things about it. This game seems to build on all the made those games great but adds in cutting edge graphics, stellar motion capture and a slew of new abilities. Looks like a very interesting title that I will certainly keep an eye out for.

Metal Gear Solid V

Of course. This game blew me away. The grahics looked amazing and the scale of the game is unprecendented in the series. Like far cry mixed with MGS. There has been a lot of talk about dropping the original voice of snake but I think the new voice is excellent. This is a must buy for me.

Watchdogs

This game has been wowing people for a while now. Great graphics, interesting story that resonates very strongly with current events and unique take on multiplayer.

Honourable mention to the new Tom Clancy game. It looks promising! I know of friends who have loved older installments so I may give this game a try.

"Go to the place, beat the crap out of the people," Katelyn said.

"Maybe it's a bake sale," Yuni said.

Alexa and Katelyn both turned to give her looks.

"Oh, right!" Yuni said. "I can't bake at all." She grabbed Alena's hands. "You can cover for me, right?"

The door opened and Jenny walked in followed by the other members of Omega Theta Sigma.

"What are you all doing here?" Sirvanna asked.

"We were asked to come for a briefing," Jenny said.

"You should leave this to us," Alexa said. "You'll just hold us back."

"Worried that we'll spoil your losing streak?" Anya asked.

Alexa rose and marched over to Anya, getting in her face. "I dare you to say that again."

"Gladly," Anya said. "Are you worried that we'll spoil your losing streak?"

"Calm down you two," Sirvanna said. "We're all friends now."

"We may be working together but that doesn't make us friends," Alexa said.

"For once, we agree," Anya said.

"Now, now," Yuni said. "Why don't you two just kiss and make up?"

"They wouldn't have to lean much further," Katelyn said.

"Nonsense!" Alexa said. She hastily turned away from Anya and marched back to her seat.

Jenny took a seat. Her squadron quickly followed suit.

"Good, we're all here," Michael said. "I have an important mission for you." He placed a miniature projector on the table and switched it on. "This is the current eastern front. Right now one of the closest enemy military bases is here, in the Rocky Mountains range."

"Isn't that the western front?" Yuni asked.

"Not from our perspective, Hon," Christina said.

"Quite right," Michael said. "Our next operation is going to be to take this base. Our forces are going to attack here and here. Jenny, Anya, and Anastasia  will support this flank. Sirvanna, Ines, Yuni and Alexa will support this flank. Eventually the two groups should be able to meet in the middle. In the meantime, Callie, Christina, Katelyn and Alena will covertly move into the base and disable its defenses. Once we have the base we'll fortify our position there while planning the next move. Aside from taking the base I have two objectives for you. The first is to live. If you have to retreat to survive, do it. We can always take the base at another time, but we can't replace any of you. The second is to try not to kill any gifted opponents you meet. If you're in imminent danger or otherwise don't have a choice it's fine, but I would prefer not to kill any of them." He turned to the group and gave a slight smile. "After all, we all know that most of them aren't actually fighting because they want to."

I thought it was cool, something blog worthy because it's been so long. But yeah, Operation: Phoenix is my Machinima series taking place in Halo 4, after the end of the game, story spoilers for Halo 4 will be partially involved.

But hey its coming soon, if you want you can check out the trailer and be wary of the first episode coming out sometime next week. That link will be to my YouTube Channel.

It sure has been a while since I was last active on Gamespot. In two years I've only posted a couple little blogs. The reason why is that last year was so crazy.

During the summer of 2011, me and my family agreed to move from our home in Ohio, to try to live in Washington state again. I was obviously nervous because I haven't been in Washington in almost 10 years, and at that time I was really young, so I knew I'd have to kind of "start over" and make new friends and all. Everyone else was very excited and looking forward to being in a new place though, so I tried sharing the same excitement with the others. Plans for moving were made in March, and we finally were prepared and moved by the time May rolled around. We were on our way to a place called Anacortes Island, Washington.

The plane ride we had was a little rough. It took a little over a day to get there because of a couple flight delays. I was almost awake the entire flight because of eagerness to finally get off the plane, and into Washington. I was with most of my immediate family, such as my siblings and parents, with some other relatives that took a head start and waited for us. It was around 3:00am when we finally landed, but I was far from tired. I got off the plane, and instantly saw some new landscape that is not in Ohio, and saw a lot of lights and buildings too. We landed in Seattle, and ended up staying there temporarily until we drove up to Anacortes.

It may have been dark outside, but on the way to Anacortes I saw some amazing scenerey like really green grass, Mount Baker and other really big mountains, and there was a lot of rivers too. I was pretty crowded in the car, but it was still an awesome drive nonetheless.

After a few hours, we all made it to our new home, but wen't to bed right away due to exhaustion. I slept for a really long time, but when I woke up, it was to a lot of sunshine and water. The house was right by an ocean. Soon after that, I traveled around town, met some really cool people, and visited some cool areas. It was a small town, but still a lot of fun because of hanging out with friends and stuff like that. Everyone was layed back, and welcoming which was a good thing for sure. I was always active, doing a lot of outdoor activities and things like that, and was one of the reasons I was on Gamespot less and less. As fun as it was hanging out with people and traveling around state and town, it was still hard to find a place to live for long. It is far more expensive to live there than in Ohio, and then on top of that, I was dealing with a lot of other issues too like family problems and such. As a result, we ended up driving back to Ohio after about 7 months.

Even with the few problems I had, it was still an amazing experience to say the least. When I moved back, I went back to gaming because I missed it so much, and it's good to finally be on here again. I give thanks to the people who took the time to read over my blog How has everyone else been?

Depending on their opinion you add that to your judgement and decide what to do. It does not matter if the review is good or bad as long as you can trust it, it works for you.

review

Game reviewing is pretty much the same thing, you look at a video from someone else's experience playing the game and based on that you decided wether to buy it or to put your money into something else or if it's even worth playing. A decent review takes in account the good and the bad things in a game objectively, gives credit when credit is due and mentions the game's flaws or improvements it could have made. Sounds pretty simple and yet the reviewing process can vary a lot from reviewer to reviewer.

Haven't you ever wondered why sometimes a game gets a 9 here a 6 there and a 10 in another place? One could easily blame the site, "meh they're delusional how did they gave it a 6 the game is really good jabba jabba" well it's not the site or the reviewer, it's the experience, the main reason we like or dislike games is the emotions it makes us feel while playing them, feeling that on games from the same publisher (Metal Gear, Mario, Halo) makes us defend the series and feeling that on similar games makes us defend the genre, we stand up when someone criticizes them, but the truth is we're not defending the series or the genre or the publishers we're defending the experience, we defend the joy we felt while playing them.

Think about two people who play Metal Gear, one has so much fun trying to be sneaky and clearing missions without being detected replays the levels several times to get familiar with the enemy, doesn't mind getting caught every now and then he sees every mistake as a lesson and lives the story as muchas snake, he has such an amazing experience playing the game that it easily makes it into his favorites list, in fact he probably plans to make a playthrough in a cardboard box. The other one keeps getting caught starts to get frustrated dislikes all the silent secret agent stuff and prefers to go all out gunning people and keeps losing, doesn't even finish the game and sets it aside puts it below a stash of games for it to rust in dust.

Then ask each of them to write a review, the first one will say how inmersive the game is, he'll probably compliment the story the creators the gameplay the publishers the guy that made coffee at kojima productions hideo kojima himself, encouraging everyone to play the game to feel the same joy he felt. The other one will say how bad the game was, he'll butcher the gameplay destroy the story, trash talk the series and the genre itself, discouraging everyone in ording to prevent them for playing it so they can avoid the torture he just endured. One does not have to be a genius to realize that once the score comes into the equation these 2 guys will probably give completely different scores but that's not based on the game itself it's based on the experience they had. Now, is metal gear a good or bad game? See for yourself

Anyone can set up a video camera take some gameplay footage and talk about the game, but reviewing is more than that, is trying to share your experience of the game to the rest of the world is trying to explain the way the game made you "feel" sure you do it by talking about technical things like the gameplay, graphics, sound, story but they're all affected by the emotion produced by the game, a reviewer that is 100% objective has no enjoyment is just a machine that clears a game gives a score and moves on to the next one. It kills the purpose of gaming.

Now the problem comes in when we let reviews affect our judgement, we decide the fate of a game based on the score it got, I see this everyday at the boards. The game got a 6? Not good enough for me, this site gave it a 4.5 this one a 6.3 that one a 3.2 while there is a tendency at the end of the day it is you who should decide not a score, not the experience of someone else but yours.

When you let a review influence your judgement is when you lose sight of the value of your own experience as a gamer

"Because to influence a person is to give him ones own soul. He does not think his natural thoughts, or burn with his natural passions. His virtues are not real to him. His sins, if there are such things as sins, are borrowed. He becomes an echo of someone elses music, an actor of a part that has not been written for him"

Quote from: The Picture of Dorian Gray

Reviews should be a guide, not a veredict. It's not about the quality of the camera or the footage or the fancy words we use it's about sharing an opinion, an opinon of a friend, one that we can trust. At the end of the day it is you and only you who should decide what to do, to have your own experience to share it with the rest of the world

Tue, 04 Sep 2012 12:24:47 -0700 Bruneauinfo writes: Romance of the Three Kingdoms XI http://www.gamespot.com/users/Bruneauinfo/show_blog_entry.php?topic_id=m-100-25993643 I wrote a player review on Metacritic for ROTK XI today. Thought I'd add it here too.

I have thoroughly enjoyed Romance of the Three Kingdoms XI. True, it is probably not for the average gamer, or even the avid gamer. However, if you like strategy, and if you're willing to put the effort into completing the tutorials, the game has a great deal to offer - many, many hours of engrossing playtime, for example.

I've read in several less-than-shining reviews comments about the weighty amount of historical references contained in the game. But the truth is, the historical significance of the game is almost completely irrelevant to the actual playing of this game. In fact, there are detailed settings that allow the player to remove all historical relevance completely from the game world. In other words, Koei has given the player a huge roster of characters to pit against each other in a world where the player decides whether or not history has any relevance in their campaigns. And from my experience playing, history is not necessary for the game mechanic to work. It's a game of stats and strategy, more than it is a game of history. The novel that the game was based on is historical fiction after all.

On the other hand, the 'history / story' is probably one of my favorite parts of the game. Romance of the Three Kingdoms is a great story, it's a lot of fun once you get into it, and it adds role playing depth to the game once you get to know the lore behind even a handful of the characters. However, if you have any imagination at all you'll probably find yourself putting personality into each of the characters without the aid of CGI and expensive voice actors. The later of which would greatly decrease the number of characters in the game, and the depth of the strategy due to the cost.

Is the game difficult to beat? Of course it s! The history of the Three Kingdoms period showed how difficult it was to unite China after the fall of the Han Dynasty. This wasn't World War 2 after all. It was a conflict that lasted almost a hundred years. The population dropped from over 56 million citizens to just over 16 million by the time it ended. It wouldn't make a lot of sense if the game could be beaten in six hours or less like typical games of today.

I've read complaints about the time it takes to complete this game, and in my opinion it's a ridiculous complaint. If you're having a good time playing something, why would you want it to end? Perhaps if you were a game developer, and you wanted gamers to buy your next product? Yeah. Or maybe because your only satisfaction in life comes from the accomplishment of completing a video game. I would personally rather have my money's worth from a game, and ROTK XI has payed for itself many times over.

Last year, I realized that I only have two years until college (Obviously, now that means that I only have a few months left) and I thought that I may not have any more freetime! Maybe more, maybe less. However, I set a little goal for myself to follow and that would be to complete a certian amount of games before the summer. I've beaten quite a few on my list but I still have a few left and summer is sneaking up fast! I hope I can juggle these games alongside my every day activities. I want to play, and beat, in the order, these games:

Banjo-Tooie

Sonic Rivals 2

Sonic Heroes

Spider-man Web of Shadows

Okamiden

Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories

Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars

Final Fantasy 12

Then followed by a few flash games. I want to beat Mardek 3 (that's not a priority) however Monster's Den: Book of Dread is

So yeah! For anybody that cares, that is what I am going to be doing whilst juggling school, my girlfriend, the gym, and my friends.

Circus is in town
Your foul presence is explained
Go to hell, carnie

Dogs will eat your corpse
Rogues will defecate on it
Die, you stupid prat.

Banish from my sight
Did I mention I hate you?
Burn in hell, ****wad

You are a ****Head.
Your Mere presence angers me
I will punch your face

You make me so mad
Rage is exceeding limits
Get out of my face

Pile of excrement
This Haiku describes you well
You Bloody Tapeworm

You are so stupid
Everybody is laughing
At your ugly face

Well, that's all I have for now. May post more at a later date.

With mild Rage
Jerk-O-Tron 2000

When I was at school , on my iPhone , spent hours on it at home , posted , made myself known , created a bunch of unions ....and for the past couple of months that feeling just isn't there anymore...I don't know if it's the tacky new website design , or the fact that the people I used to co-operate with aren't around anymore or maybe even the fact that I might not be so good at designing ... Gamespot just lost that thing , anyway , now I'm in millitary college , trying my best to keep up...I have lots of free time , maybe I'll come back...but that's not a promise I'm ready to keep.

Game Update! http://www.gamespot.com/users/unknown37/show_blog_entry.php?topic_id=m-100-25961593 I haven't blogged in a while, I normally have no time and nothing interesting to say, and Gamespot has seen better days as far as a community that blogs goes. But since I haven't done one in 6 months, and I have some stuff to say, I've decided to do one. I won't bore anyone with any personal life stuff; let's go straight to the games.

First off, let's get the crap out of the way. I preordered the collector's edition of Zelda Skyward Sword literally the week it was announced. Yesterday, I got an email from Amazon saying that it wouldn't even be shipping until like December 21 or something. Now normally I'd just cancel my preorder, order elsewhere, and call it a day. I can't do that this time though, as A) The game has blown up in price, like doubled, and B) they've already charged my account. I've come to expect more than this from amazon. All I know is if I don't get the Collector's Edition I'm going to be pissed.

Onto the good news. So far this seems to potentially be the greatest year for gaming this generation, which is a good thing since overall this generation has disappointed compared to others. All the games I've played so far (for the most part), have either been on par or superior to their predecessors. So far I've gotten:

  1. Gears of War 3: Haven't got to play it too much but what I have played seems great, MP much improved from 2
  2. Skyrim (PC): Absolutely awesome. Could be greatest ES game ever... Heck it has the potential to be one of the greatest games ever (though I won't say that for sure until I've 100%'ed it).
  3. Uncharted 3: Haven't gotten around to playing it yet, can't wait for Christmas break
  4. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3: It seems ok, not good though. Better than MW2, not better than COD4
  5. Batman Arkham City (PC): Haven't got to play it yet (pc version just came out today), although I already know it will be a solid game
  6. The King of Fighters XIII (PS3): This game has made me a VERY happy camper so far. It fully redeems any shortcomings XII had, and is superior to what I've played of the arcade version (anyone that knows me very well knows that me saying that about a console port is a big deal, as I am an arcade player first, pc player second, and console player third). I'm begging anyone who plays fighting games even a little bit to give it a shot... SNK and Atlus outdid themselves with this one and it deserves to be in your collection. I haven't played the game that much, as like Batman it's only been out for a day, but it has all the right pieces.

I also have Star Wars: The Old Republic down the pipeline. I thought I was going to be disappointed, but I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the beta. Other games I want are Sonic Generations, Dark Souls, UMvC3, and maybe a few others I can't think of off the top of my head.

Right now I'd say Skyrim and KOFXIII are the two top contenders for GOTY, although after I get around to playing through everything that is subject to change.

Comments? What have you been playing and are looking forward to? What looks like it's going to be your GOTY? let me know!
