Anyone interested in joining up to play? I've got another friend who will be joining me tonight; it will be both our first time checking this game out. So I was kinda hoping that I could wrangle in some more people from the site here.

I don't play much online but this game seems like it could hold some promise. I'm not trying to form a clan or any long-term commitments so don't worry. I'm just asking if a few people would also be interested in joining my friend and I. Let me know if you are.

http://wiiudaily.com/2013/05/nintendo-lets-play-controversy/

Personally, I feel Let's Players should be left alone.  I don't think copyright law particularly applies to this situation, as I see it differnently than animated music videos or recut films.  For a song artist, they can potentially lose a sale of their song because someone can hear it off of YouTube.  For a movie, someone can watch it off YouTube.  For a game... you can't really play a game off of YouTube.  And honestly, if someone just wants to see the game played without playing, they're still not going to buy the game, regardless if the LPer gets ad revenue or not.

Let's Plays are valuable sources of information.  Not only do they demonstrate a game being played to help out a person struggling through a specific level, but it's also a resource that a consumer can use if they're researching a potential purchase.  Stealing away an LPer's income source for making these videos is akin to charging writers for reviewing their games, or for writing FAQs and strategy guides.

Should Major League Gamers be charged for training on a publisher's video game?  Should a portion of the prize money be allocated to, say, Capcom because someone won a tournament playing Street Fighter X Tekken?  Now, I know what you're thinking.  "No, because they're sponsored." or "No, because it's promotional; they're advertising the game."  Well, Let's Players are also promoting these publishers' games.  The publishers don't have to pay these YouTubers to talk about their games, but instead are stealing their income for doing so.  This is like CBS signing over checks to Square-Enix every time a GameSpot employee talks about Tomb Raider.

Here's an interesting thought.  Why not Sony charge whoever plays the game that's being shared to them over the PS4?  Why should some guy on the other side of the country be able to play someone else's game for free?  "That's unfair!"  Right, and so is taking ad revenue from LPers, who BOUGHT the game in the first place!  And in case you don't want to read the article I linked, I'll just pluck a quote out of it.

"Theyre [Let's Plays] a great form of advertising and sadly, the way Nintendo is punishing people for playing their titles is going to do more harm than good, when it comes to exposure for their games. YouTube personalities will be less inclined to make lets play series based on Nintendo games since they get no revenue, which decreases exposure. Word of mouth exposure has always been one of the most premium forms of advertising for games."

Exactly.  The only difference is that these LPers are making a few dollars doing it.  They're taking time out of their day to spend playing YOUR game, which they BOUGHT, and spreading the word.  If you as a publisher are really bothered by that, then how about you pay them instead?  You didn't play the game for them, so how dare you take away what they earned?

I know this is a grey area, and I can see exactly how copyright law would apply to these situations, but that doesn't mean I think it's right.  I don't like the way it works, and I think it needs to be reformed.  It also sucks for me personally, because I was thinking about doing this in the future.  Now, not so much.  If I really have to agree with this copyright law, then I figure I how about 100 different publishing houses money, because I earn a living shelving their books in my library.

But i would like to have a top 15 Rare Games countdown as well, but i think it will be down the road since i don't want to overkill the subject of Rareware too much.. I have another planned countdown for  Top 10 Characters for Super Smash Bros Wiiu/3DS and  Top 10 Kart Racers and more so stay tuned..

As for new purchases i have made a few since my last update so lets get to it!

271094b.jpg

I figured the price would go down for this game, glad i both waited and bought this game for like 35 bucks its well worth it, the game is a masterpeice every way through bringing back lots of good memories of RPGs and why i love the dying genre even more. I feel more games should be like this game and its easily one of the best RPG's for PS3 amazing graphics, touching story, fun gameplay, witty story telling and lots of depth, like peeling an onion i feel like i am just hitting the surface of what this game has to offer..

271128b.jpg

My older bro Bought this for me for my birthday and i am very happy he did and thankful. LBP Karting was a game that was looking forward to all last year, but when bad reviews came upon release i kinda loss a bit of interest and hoping for a price drop. It feels like LBP and features all the great customazation and creativty the series is known for. The Controls are a tad touchy and power ups are crazy making this even more hextic then mario kart at times.. But Overall i am having a lot of fun with this game and i think people are too hard on the game, it exactly what i expected LBP karting to be.. so whats to complain?!

YES!! My favorite Rolling Armadillo is back in another awesome 3D Western Tower Defense action game! With Improved Graphics, New Allies/Rangers, improved Salon Segements and a new Train to protect, the game has everything a Rolling western Fan would like. So if you enjoyed the first on or are looking for somthing new and fun on 3DS give Dillon a Roll..

cover_large.jpg

I thought i give this game a try after seeing pretty good reviews and watching vids the game is all about platforming collecting Acorns and doing so in the fast time possible.. its a very simple fun game that is a nice addition to my 3DS eshop Library..

I recently Beat

I plan to write a full review for this exciting installment of the Luigi's Mansion series, but overall The Gamespot review of this game had to be the worse pile of crap i have ever read and the lady just stinks at the game. its something the 3DS owners need to play, it features fun missions that breakdown each mansion and awesome ending.. It has more of nintendo Mario feel and its perfect for Portable play.. for more see my review in the upcoming Days/weeks whenever i feel like it!! lol

Anyways until next time...

Should have taken a lesson from the Balkans!

Look at this crackpot idea that we had in 1920 of abolishing individual

nations and putting them together under the Yugoslav flag.

It led to disaster and the EU has sadly made the same tragic mistake.

It is only now becoming obvious to everyone.

Except the U.K. who didn't want any part of it in the first place.

Husband - Hell no! Are you crazy?!

Wife - Can I trust you?

Husband - Yes.

Wife - Darling!

Prince Charles decided to take up jogging.

Every day, he'd jog past a hooker standing on the same street corner.

He learned to brace himself as he approached her for what was almost certain to follow.

"One hundred and fifty pounds!" she'd shout from the curb.

"No! Five pounds!" He would fire back, just to shut her up.

This ritual between him and the hooker became a daily occurrence.

He'd run by and she'd yell, "One hundred and fifty pounds!"

He'd yell back, "Five pounds!"

One day, Camilla decided that she wanted to accompany her husband on his jog.

As the jogging couple neared the working woman's street corner, Prince Charles realised she'd bark her 150 pound offer and Camilla would wonder what he'd really been doing on all his past outings.

He figured he'd better have a good explanation for his wife.

As they jogged into the turn that would take them past the corner, he became even more apprehensive than usual.

Sure enough, there was the hooker.

He tried to avoid the prostitute's eyes as she watched the pair jog past.

Then, from her corner, the hooker yelled, "See what you get for five pounds, you tight bastard?!"

Of my youngest brother. He just won his first pro championship built in K1.

The tension before the match was killer specially if you're watching your own brother fighting against who is going to be fighting in the next Asian championships ( my bro supposed to go instead of that guy but you'll get the why he isn't going in a minute ), especially when a whole corner of the crowd ( around 200 people ) rooting against my bro.

Especially when there is drama behind his fight since the team training his foe is his former gym who he has trained with them for the past 4 years but they threw him under the bus when he was in his lowest. Especially when the former coach/organizers signs this rookie for the Asian champions instead of my bro just to spite him.

So yea the fight starts and that guy got dominated like there is no tomorrow! what my bro was worrying about was his kicks since the opponent was a kyokushin fighter for the last 12 years or so of his life and recently changed to kick-boxing but that didn't save him from getting his ass kicked.

It was fun to watch the crowd silenced by the first round, their voice wasn't heard at all after the first round lol.

It was also most fun to watch his former coach and half the organizers of this tournament who wanted to ruin his career in total disappointment.

Last night was one of the best nights eva! loved every moment especially after seeing my bro happiest after so much drama for the last 5 months.

Anyways back to celebrating!

I was actually having more fun playing Tomb Raider, but that's because I was playing Bioshock on the infinitely stupid 1999 mode: "Yo dawg, we know you like old school design, so we gonna put old school in your new school, so you can new school while you old school". I know that's not how the meme goes, but it certainly feels like that. I can still remember System Shock 2's design like it was yesterday, and it was everything about it that made it intense and difficult. You can't just slap on bigger/smaller damage models, expensive deaths, different mobs and call it 'old school design'. Twats. I might even do an editorial about it since it infuriated me so much.

Oh right, Tomb Raider. I was having fun. A lot more fun that I thought I would. It's Uncharted with boobs, and it thinks taking the Uncharted relic collect-a-thon and slapping on 'find hidden info by viewing relic at X angle' is evolution. There is actually quite a bit of non-shooting things to do, but the rhythm of the game revolves around killing bad guys. Obviously Adobe's RPG of the year, then.

 Breaking Bad

Admittedly too good. Not since The Wire have I hung out to see what happens in the very next episode, season, whatever. It screwed up my blog's agenda. I suppose it's karma for totally sh!tting on Game of Thrones previously.

 Iron Man 3

Haven't seen it. Even with Shane Black directing, couldn't be arsed to see it. I think I'm getting superhero fatigue.

Instead, I'll be hype for Fast & Furious 6. Might also be a time to find a girl chill enough to kick it with watching such a movie. Most of the time, at least in NZ, they're so strung up, they like watching their entertainingly neurotic films like Iron Man 3 and sh!t, but it doesn't really translate well for me outside the theatre. It's either that, or they watch those really dumb chick flicks - and only chick flicks - and so I end up having zero in common with them.

So yeah, Fast & Furious 6, don't let me down.

Here's a video of Vin Diesel singing a Rihanna song for good luck.

Oh, and she use to be sooooo bad:

Now she's just terribad.

P.S Not to let down the pooheads that measure their e-peens against mine, in the last month I've watched Mid-August Lunch, Coriolanus, The Merchant of Venice, and I'm about to go on a Catherine Corsini viewing spree. Yeah, you had to google her name. *Puts on pretentious fedora and walks away*

Risk. It's a board game. I have the board game in my loft (somewhere). So why do I find it better on XBLA?

There are a couple of obvious answers, it's far less time to set up, no cheating friends who move pieces when you go to the toilet, and no missing pieces that you find a week after binning it. Apart from that it's the same game I've owned for 10 years. What makes it different?

Risk Factions on XBLA offers a poor storyline, with some funny characters and a small campaign mode. But it's online mode where the real fun is. There people quit early, leave games, or take 5 minutes to attack to go toilet.

So why do I force myself to play? Is it self-inflicting? Am I the forever optimist? Maybe it's because nobody in real life will play me at Risk, as I tend to win. Whatever the reason, I'm sticking with it...for the mean time.

On the train, on the toilet, in bed while my wife is reading, on airplanes... there's been a lot of Embleming. I think I'm on Chapter 22 or something, but I'm in the middle of a battle now so I can't check.

I've been spending a lot of time pairing up characters so that they get married and then I get to meet their time-traveling  progeny. It's fun to see what characteristics the parents pass on to their kids and get an extra perspective on this doom-and-gloom future everyone is ranting on about. It's also rewarding to fill out my party with new blood; the excitement of new life offers a soothing counter to the anguish of life lost.

Today I mourn Vaike.

Vaike

Look at this cocky bastard. Weird chains dangling off his neck collar like so much Ylissian bling. Can't be bothered to keep track of his axes. Refers to himself not just in the third-person, but makes himself into a proper noun: "The Vaike." No shirt, no helmet, no problem.

But what a soldier! When he torqued those practice-hardened muscles back and uncorked a ferocious axe strike, the Risen rose no more. He was a fierce fighter and a trustworthy ally, lending unbending support and an easy smile to all his compatriots. We'll all remember "Teach" sharing his strategies and tips freely, solicited or no. His confidence, his self-assurance, and his gusto made us all better soldiers, better allies, and better friends.

Vaike, for your rockin' hair, your rockin' bod, your rockin' attitude, and your rockin' axe, we salute you. Rock in peace.

After all, I got Bioshock Infinite. If you have been around this blog for enough time, you might understand that Bioshock is among the best games I have ever played. Though the sequel didn't have a great impact on me, it is still an enjoyable experience.

Speaking about Infinite I must say that it has been a long wait, full of dissapointments due delays... but now that I have it, I personally think that it is as good as I expect it. THe story develops right, the graphics are nothing spectacular but the never have to be to make a game great, and battles are really something to consider. Vigors are not as "durable" as plasmids were but they are effiecient.

I will play it during the weekend and let you know my full perception (I just hope I won't finish it during that time, all the good things they say about a great ending might tempt me to do it)

have a great weekend

Happy Easter Y'all! Whether you're a pagan friend of mine (or rebellious youth) who enjoys revelling in (or strongly referencing) the inherent fertility of Easter's symbolic trappings, or a hearty Christian who enjoys celebrating the return of Jesus as he let his followers know that he had truly elevated himself in the spiritual sense and that his suffering on their behalf had been for a very good cause. Either way all are welcome as over the past I have had friends from all extremes and, being something of a chameleon due to my tiny, tiny childhood size combined with moving around a lot, I've learned to accept a lot of folks for who they are and not try to change them in any way.

Anyhoo...now that I actually have access to a computer and in the near future will be able to purchase one of my very own, I thought I might revisit some old habits such as creating an Easter "fun page" filled with all sorts of (hopefully) comic merriment as I have done in the past. But as I perused through Google pictures looking for an appropriately retro Easter header...oh, which would have looked thusly:

easter2

Not too shabby...a tad on the small side but as always I make an attempt to merge my love for old-fashioned pin-ups with whatever is the calendar theme of the day. Anyways whilst I was thumbing through the "retro Easter" pics that it culled up from the vastnessness of the Internet, I began noticing a decent amount of alarming and slightly disturbing pictures associated with the holiday; some intentional and some...not so much. Being still something of an ADD lad I decided to ditch my party blog and just lazily post some of the pics that caught my eye for your edification, amusement, or perhaps much to your regret for clicking on my abode. Enjoy?

easter3

I think the expression on the child says it all as, so stricken with apprehension it cannot even summon up the emotion of tears and terrors, stunned...it quietly ponders whether or not the giant expressionless bunny is about to consume it.

easter4

"I swear by my hands some child will die by chocolate this very day"

easter5

OK let's face facts. You and I both have seen enough horror films to realize that either the kid is about to look for her last egg, or she is about to serve as a catalyst for some upspeakable horror beyond horror that's about to rip you apart in such a manner that all the police involved in investigating your murder will have nightmares to their dying days. Either way...you know it's not going to end good.

easter6

If there's one picture on this blog that's going to stay with you and haunt you for days upon end until you slowly erase that memory with some very hard liquor, it's this one.

Easter6

One of the hardest kinds of retro pictures to find is live model Easter pin-up girls as, other than great pin-up painters like Vargas and Elvgren, it's amusing to think before Playboy, folks back then couldn't quite summon up the sexy when it came to bunny costumes. Hallowe'en...no problem. Christmas...sure, you want to open a present little boy? But girls in bunny costumes? Not a chance. This picture is made all the more frightening as she seems to be presenting the egg in a manner which indicates that it is the result of an unholy union you and her have both been a part of. There is no escape!

easter7

OK I'll admit that this one isn't disturbing nor particularly funny. I just find it amusing because back in them thar  pre-Hindenburg days pretty much everyone thought that traveling by Dirigibles was the wave of the future. But soon the tiny chicks will be leaping to their unknown fate surrounded by fiery carnage as their hopes of bringing us a happy Easter celebration is dashed along with the hopes of humanity. Oh the...oh wait, I just did that joke. Ah well...

easter8

And you thought when you died that at least your soul was free to rejoice in the afterlife. Think again. The Collectors have come.

easter9

Is it just me or do you also wonder if, when you pull this colorful napkin out of its holder, that you expect to receive a generous portion of the poor bunny's guttyworks as well? Anyone? Well...I suppose I am something of a morbid lad.

easter10

Just remember...if you make any noise, any noise AT ALL, no matter how small and they open their eyes...you're dead. Tread lightly my friend.

easter11

Did I mention how difficult it was in the pre-Playboy days to make women in bunny outfits look sexy? Lord knows it wasn't as if there weren't some really hot women back in those days as, personally speaking, I'm quite fond of girls from the '20s and '30s. But again...the technology just wasn't there apparently. Oh sad unsexy sexy bunny girls with their very hot had heads. So sad.

easter12

So that wraps up my minor attempt at amusing/terrorizing/boring your Easter day. I hope you all have a happy one whether you're church goin' or family gettin' together folks or even if you're just doing the same thing you did yesterday. For my part I unexpectedly have the day off and so I am resting my weary bones from the worst job I've ever had that's so physically exhausting that is may just kill me. But hey...it's a job even if it's just temp work and it puts a little money in my pocket which is more than I had a month ago. Have a good one everyone!

Another edition of "Thoughts Whilst Washing Up". In today's episode, I talk about being on the radio, Wreck-It-Ralph, Quinn and Valor among other things.

As usual, for the the cleaner enthusiasts out there, I wash several cups, a sieve and a baking tray with really tough chicken that won't come off, a requires use of the metal wool! Enjoy!

My engagement is off, and my life right now is so off course that I can't even think clearly right now. Thank you for all the good times I had here for there is a lot of good folks at SystemWars, I will return when... I don't know.

Hello there Gamespotters,

My final semester is upon me and with that comes a full plate of classes and work. On top of that, I'll be interning for the local Police Department so with that, school, and work... (and of course a fiance who needs attention), there's not much room for Gamespot among my other frequented sites.

Now, I'll still check in to help with the SystemWars Game, and Ranger activities from time to time, but don't expect to see me too much in the bowels of SW discussing things or getting into debates. If things change, I'll happily start posting a lot again but until then, cheers.

Side caveat -- my Ethics professor is a retired South Dakota Supreme Court Justice, how cool is that?
