Now we get that not everyone will agree with our choices, which has some omissions that may surprise you, and trust us, deciding upon the finalized list was an arduous task in itself.

Note: This article was also written by tjsmoke63rigbybot127 which was initially posted on Leet Gamers Asia

With that out of the way, here is the list:

10. Resistance: Fall of Man (tjsmoke63)

When the PS3 launched in 2006, it didnt exactly have a host of stand-out titles. One of them, however, that did stand out was a sci-fi first person shooter from Insomniac Games, who had previously been best known for their action platformers Spyro and the Ratchet and Clank series. Resistance: Fall of Man follows the exploits of Nathan Hale through an alternate history 1951 where the Earth has been invaded by a hostile alien species known as the Chimera. Hale makes his way through Britain, battling a variety of enemies while on foot and in vehicles (an early tank section stands out, and was one of the more fun missions in the game). Hale has at his disposal a wide array of weaponry with which to tackle the alien menace. In addition to your typical pistols and assault rifles, Insomniac, much as they did with the Ratchet and Clank series, also gives you some very creative pieces to take out your foe.

The Chimera are relentless as they are diverse

The Auger was one such weapon, whose primary attack is a rapid fire but the bullets burrow through walls and emerge with a greater strength, and the secondary attack creates a shield that blocks enemy fire, but allows you to shoot the enemy. With these weapons and documents you can find throughout the gameworld, Insomniac created a fresh alternative to your military shooters, and created a story that was both deep and rewarding. The game did well enough to spawn sequels. Resistance 2 hit consoles in 2008, Resistance: Retribution came out in the same year for the PSP, Resistance 3 hit consoles in 2011, and Resistance: Burning Skies released on the Playstation Vita. But none quite matched the first game, which still remains one of the best shooters to grace Sonys console.

9. Heavy Rain (tjsmoke63)

In 2010, developers Quantic Dream, the studio behind the PS2 game Indigo Prophecy (known as Fahrenheit in Europe) released a game that was very different from anything else on the consoles. More interactive drama than a standard game, Heavy Rain placed players in the shoes of four different characters in pursuit of the Origami Killer, a child murderer who leaves origami figures at the scene of the crime. The characters  include Ethan Mars, a man who has suffered tragedy and whose son is being held captive by the killer, Madison Paige, an investigative journalist, FBI profiler Norman Jayden, who has at his disposal a pair of high tech glasses that enable him to find clues, and Scott Shelby, a world weary private investigator looking into the case.

 Heavy Rains story puts many games to shame

The game was unique in that there was never a Game Over screen. Instead, if your character died or simply failed a challenge, the story continued on, taking into account the players actions and adjusting the story accordingly. It gave the game an immense amount of replayability and multiple endings (one count puts the number of endings around twenty), meaning each player had a unique experience while going through the game. Some players disliked the reliance on Quick Time Events (QTEs) but for this game they worked well. Also, conversation choices were given, and you had a limited amount of time to make your choice, which in turn reflected on how other characters in the game would react to you. It was a very intense experience that many gamers and critics embraced, and remains one of the most unique entries in the PS3 library.

8. Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time (rigbybot127)

The latest installment in the beloved Ratchet & Clank series of platformers (not countng All 4 One, and Full Frontal Assault) sees the separation of the titular duo, a continuation of the plot element introduced at the end of Tools of Destruction, and throughout the entirety of Quest For Booty (though you dont have to play that one, as its $15 for 4 hours, and the beginning of ACiT sums it up nicely). Ratchet must embark on the single most dramatic journey in the series, as he races to rescue Clank from Dr. Nefarious, before he destroys the universe by using The Great Clock, of which Clank and his helper, Sigmund are the current keepers of; all while Ratchet learns of his race, the Lombaxes, from one of his fathers best chums, Allister Azimuth, who may know more about the Lombaxes than he lets on. It ties in great with Tools of Destruction, as well as directly explains things that put the events of said game in motion.

With its Pixar esque graphics, its a sight to behold

If not for the amazingly epic story, then definitely get it for the near-flawless platforming/shooting gameplay, and awesome set-pieces and battlefields, as well as some interesting new time puzzles on Clanks levels; this game of which contains the most Clank sections in the series history. They are fun and challenging, but arent very large in quantities, unless you wanna go for the bonus Gold Bolt ones, but your mind will probably be reduced to mush before you finish all those.

7. LittleBigPlanet 2 (rigbybot127)

This is as wet as a creative persons dream can get. LittleBigPlanet 2 unleashes what is (quite literally) hundreds of games worth of assets at you, to assure that you and up to 3 buddies can have all the fun platforming in beautifully creative user-created worlds, but with all these assets, you dont have to stop there! You have the ability to create racing games, fighting games, tower defense games, first-person shooters, and much more, all for what is now a $20 dollar price tag (along with however much you spend on the games seemingly endless amount of downloadable skins, featuring the likes of The Muppets, Sonic the Hedgehog, Assassins Creed, Uncharted, Metal Gear Solid, which comes with a special paintball gun, and basically any other intellectual property you can imagine; the DLC for the original is also compatible, which means even MORE to choose from).

Multiplayer games are chaotically fun and a great ice-breaker

6. God of War III (tjsmoke63)

God of War III was the final chapter in the story of Kratos, finishing off the tale begun by Santa Monica Studio on the PS2. By this entry Kratos, the Greek warrior betrayed by the Gods, has reignited the Great War, and the game begins with Kratos storming Mount Olympus with the aid of the Titans. All does not go well, as Kratos is betrayed once again, this time by Gaia. The spirit of Athena appears once more to guide him, this time in search of the Flame of Olympus and Pandoras Box. Featuring plenty of characters and creatures from Greek mythology, the gameplay once again employed the brutal hack and slash found in the previous entries. Combos could be made using Kratos main weapon, the Blades of Exile, and the use of a secondary weapon, among them the Claws of Hades, the Nemean Cestus (a pair of fist gauntlets), and the Nemesis Whip.

One word to sum up the GOW series; epic

As before, unlocking chests released orbs that replenished both health and magic, as well as Gorgon Eyes, which upgraded health, Phoenix Feathers, which upgraded magic, and new to the series, Minotaur Horns, which upgraded items. In addition to combat, that game featured puzzles to solve and plenty of platforming sections. The story is a well written tale of vengeance, and is bolstered by strong voice acting and some jaw dropping visuals. The game remains of the best action adventure titles on the PS3, and offered a satisfying end to Kratos story, though Sony an Santa Monica Studio dont appear to be done with the character, as several prequels have been released. For those wishing to indulge in a fair amount of carnage this is the game to play.

5. Valkyria Chronicles (david)

A small nation overcomes all odds and emerges triumphant. War has never been forgiving and Valkyria Chronicles is filled with moments of sheer tragedy, personal loss that shakes the very foundations, and blooming romance that will tear at your heartstrings. Amidst the cookie cutter shooters and adventure games that has violence in spades, Valkyria Chronicles not only stands out for its beautifully crafted cel-shaded graphics but also for its unique and challenging gameplay. Like the Fire Emblem games which involve a lot of tactical planning and careful consideration before making a move, the sheer sense of accomplishment when you clear some of the latter stages is second to none. Which units do you deploy, who should make a quick dash through enemy lines, how to best thin out the enemys relentless assault? These are just some of the questions that players will ask themselves. And in a battle for supremacy  that can be shifted in one favor with one false move, the stakes are high in what is arguably the definite strategy game in PS3s long list of must-have titles.

selvaria

Selvaria, a deeply troubled antagonist

4. Journey (rigbybot127)

Journey is not a game in any traditional sense. Sure there are collectibles, and you move your character like one moves a character in a third-person game, but Journey eschews the normal video game format of quests, attacking, and health, as well as the ability to die at all; for a rich, gorgeous atmosphere, with beautiful lighting techniques utilized, (as you can see from the above screenshot, has the best sand in gaming) coupled with a rewarding narrative, that doesnt rely on heavy exposition or any dialogue whatsoever, and instead allows you and a completely random stranger to look past superficial details, simply make little chirping sounds to signal your new friend over, and create a real emotional connection with one another, as well as memories that will last forever, with a person youll never see again, all on that mighty trek towards the omnipresent mountaintop.

A sight to behold

3. Ni No Kuni (david)

As far as JRPGs go, many havent been as good as they used to. Marred with dated mechanics that fail to recapture the excitement of progressing through a story, playing it too safe with predictable gameplay and relying on past successes simply isnt cutting it. Ni No Kuni with its strikingly beautiful animations is a game that is very much alive and a genuine throwback to JRPGs of old. With characters in which you genuinely care for, it sets itself apart by going back to basics, making exploration and leveling up fun again. Familiars, companions that you can serenade and recruit to your team after beating them, is a neat addition. Much like the addictive nature of Pokemon, there is much satisfaction to be gained when one manages to serenade a familiar. Varied in design and personality, each encounter with them calls for different strategies and weaknesses to exploit. With over a hundred of familiars to collect and train, one can easily spent countless hours just wandering around the mass landscape completing errands as well as hunting for that elusive familiar. This is one game you wouldnt want to miss.

This truly is a beautifully crated game

2. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (rigbybot127)

The full proverb is No Honor Among Thieves, which is certainly the case in Nathan Drakes second outing, and in most minds, his best. His first game showed a lot of potential, which was unfortunately not ceased due to clunky shooting controls and screen-tearing. Uncharted 2 takes its potential, and runs it up a very large hill, and has perfect framerate and zero screen-tearing, making it one of the most technically perfect console games ever made. Uncharted 2 pays homage to a lot of action-packed Hollywood movies (most notably the Indiana Jones series), and plays like a 12-hour movie, with all the action, romance, twists and turns you would expect from such; but the pacing is perfect, never gets stale, making it a joyride to play long after the credits roll.

A well crated adventure game, that doesnt let up

1. Metal Gear Solid 4 (david)

Storytelling in games, ranges from the downright bizarre (go ahead and Google Seaman, dont say we didnt warn you) to one that leaves you on an emotionally charged roller coaster ride and never lets up. Metal Gear Solid 4 is that game. With precision and fluidity coexisting effortlessly, the narrative is at its strongest in Metal Gear Solid 4. You see Snake isnt the same man; diagnosed with accelerated aging, he is wrinkled, nurses his stiff joints and is looking a lot worse for the wear. Although some cutscenes in the Metal Gear Solid series may be overly long, viewing them in its entirety is integral if one is to fully soak in the epic narrative. And in a game that has them in spades, each cutscene blends in seamlessly with smart gameplay that lets you tackle a stage in numerous ways. Do you take the stealthy route and pick off enemies one by one or go in guns blazing, shooting the living daylights of anyone who gets in your path? The choices you make and overcoming them on the harder difficulties is extremely rewarding as it is fun.  The fact that it debuted 5 years ago and yet remains at the very top of the list, is testament to just how great this game is. And if by some means you havent played it yet, we strongly urge you to give it a go.

Solid Snake

Snake truly has seen better days

Standout moment: The fight between Vamp and Raiden, is choreographed to perfection. Once a pushover and a big pet peeve of MGS2, Raiden is not only more composed but also a much bigger badass.

Hey.

School's been okay.

Backstage work for our flood appeal concert is hard.

It's this Saturday. The concert, I mean.

I've been drawing better.

I beat Skyla in Black 2. (FINALLY!)

It's getting colder.

I don't know what else to say.

Goodnight.

At least what i have read and seen in there in USA. Here in my country, well it is somewhat issue on thing or two, but not so huge (finland). I dont want to step on anyones toes and I do want to see the world as equal as it can be... You know there is gonna be a but here dont you? Yeah so let me get in to the thick of it then.

Gaming. Now this is one of the main issues ofcourse cause we are in gaming site and I read then. I do see that women are portrait as sexist object in most of games. They have way too huge breast and less clothes and such.  This is a problem yes. Then again it depends on who you want to sell the games. Yes women play video games, yes they dont like to see these type of things, but it is kind of makers choise to make these and us a consumer to talk with our money. If you dont like those games dont buy them. It is all I can say. I know as a male it doesnt affect me as much as female, but I still have to say that any type of sensorship is bad. Women should talk about games they like and not blame the games that have it wrong. Like I said sensorship. And most of the time I dont myself register that after I am in the game. Like I said it is a bad thing and you should more talk to the gamemakers that you want to buy games that have "realistic" female character (main or sub).

On a side note, the whole not enough femail main character is shitty thing and I would like to see more of those too. It gives the different points of view and you have different shock systems.

Now to the hard part. the jobs. I think it is really hard thing to grasp by any one really. Or at least to people who dont see the big picture. Gaming have been here 30 year and more and it was mens job, not cause they didnt like female (if you ask nerds would they love female co-workers they would have love it.), but cause female didnt care much of games and such. That is society for you and that is just the way things are. Why moddels look like they look, why movie start are who they are and such. But yeah it was male dominated job and after 15 years people tend to see how huge this gaming have become, people started to want to join the fray. Now I like to say that if you have female with same education and gaming ref than the male it is random, but like in any job it never is.

There is 2 major things here. Connections and the work you done in past. Cause female are just coming to fray there are plenty of male who has already much more experience of the job than some of the male and you have to take that as a factor. The other thing is that when you go to any job, if you have connection (is it your the cousin of the boss or friend of a friend) they choose who they like. This is same to males also. Why some jobs are male dominated isnt cause they hate female, its cause there are less female there and they have to fight with 10 male who wants the same job. They arent dissing the female applications (some of the times at least). And should they take you just cause you are female? Like you gt 100 points more just cause of you sex?

It is hard for females here cause most of female in the past didnt care about gaming and such is the life in USA. I like to think that here in my country they dont care are you male or female and what I have heard we dont have the problem really. There is some pay issues, but in "high"-end jobs... it is quite small if none-existing.

Now I cant touch the job enviroment at all. I dont know about how much there people tend to make sexist jokes and such, but I have been working female dominated job and sometimes it wasnt fun to be the male the also. I can understand that, but it is a hard thing to change really.

I know there are whole lot of things I didnt write cause my brain dont work like that, but I think I made some of them here. As a person from not in USA I cant really understand some of the ways you guys do there.

Feminish is a really hard thing to tackle. cause there is so many things that just dont make sense or is kind of against the nature of things. I am not saying men hunt and female cather things, but we are part of what we are and you cant change them no matter how hard you try. Otherwise we would have war and violance at all. I think people should think about that and Is some of these things such a huge problem that we should use our resourses to it. There are whole lot of bigger things that need so much more help than this. I love equality of life and I love female to have oppertunity to any job that male is dominant, but dont sensor things and we are what we are.

Maybe not like the one in '84 but seeing a number of studios closing, and the AAA games being bigger and more bloated and not making back their production costs (see the Tomb Raider reboot), and the industry's greed getting worse and worse. It's not unrealistic to think the PS4 could be a $700 system with $70 games. The average Joe doesn't have tons of money to put into high end systems and games and has cheaper alternatives in the form of tablet games. Meanwhile the hardcore gamers and the studios seem to be blind to this more interested in fancy graphics and "emotional polygons" and honestly I'm tired of it all. I like games but I'm tired of the industry greed, developer's egos and fanboys..oh the fanboys but instead of writing a big long editorial discussing about this possible crash I saw The 25th Hour and I heard Edward Norton's famous monologue about NY and I started think of a verion I had for my thoughts on all this. Of course I had to censor it because GS doesn't like naughty language so either you are all going to love this or hate this.

F*** you? F*** me.

F*** this whole gamer culture and everyone in it.

F*** the Xbox Live brats, screaming their racist, homophobic slurs into headsets. Stupid spoiled brats.

F*** EA, money grubbing corporate pigs, self styled masters of the universe with their DRM and on disc DLC figuring out new ways to rob gamers blind. You think we don't know about this. Give us a break. Activison, Microsoft, Sega Nintendo. All of you.

F**** the stuck up elistist PC gamers and they're $1000 gaming rigs. Not all of us are made of money you know.

F**** the "fake geek girls" with their anorexic bodies and fake boobs making it hard for us legitmate girl gamers to be taken seriously. You're not foolin' anyone honey!

F*** David Cage and his "emotional polygons."

F*** the hypocritical parents who condemn games for making their kids violent then throw an Ipad in the little snot's faces because it's a cheap baby sittier.

F*** the NRA using games as a scapegoat. Yeah let's destroy the 1st Amendment to protect the 2nd amendment. That makes a lot of sense.

F*** the mobile game makers, making half assed things, calling them games then shoving as many microtransactions into them as possible.

F**** Gamestop and their crummy trade in value and their overpriced used games. You force your employees to shove preorders and magazine subscriptions down our throats and can't even pay them decent wages.

F*** the fanboys and their whiny malcontent.

F*** this industry and everyone in it. From Japan to Europe. From the studios in California to the lofts in New York. Let an earthquake crumble it. Let the fires rage. Let it burn to f***** ash then let the waters rise and submerge this whole, rat-infested industry.

No. F**** you kbaily. You're getting too old for this.

So far, it's pretty good.  I like how Ninty is continuing the story directly from the first games... It makes the game stronger, I think. Seeing how the region of Unova has changed is almost nostalgic, despite only a year between the two games.  I also like some of the new locations, and the Pokemon World Tournament seems like it'll be fun to really sink my teeth into.

However, I can't shake the feeling of redundancy... I find that I'm not as interested in catching Pokemon since I literally just caught a ton of them in the previous game. While I'm sure that the new features will make up for it, I find it a bit disappointing that the game is still very similar to White/ Black.  We'll see what happens when I finally complete the game.

Also, I will be writing reviews for both Dementium games when my finals are over (I'll be free by tomorrow ).

Happy gaming!

Bioshock Infinite vs Skyrim

Bioshock Infinite is this years Skyrim: Flawed in just about all design, but completely forgivable due to its overwhelming atmosphere.

Bioshock Infinite vs Spec Ops The Line

Bioshock Infinite is exactly what Spec Ops: The Line wouldve been if its game elements wouldve worked. Instagram filters and chained shooting galleries of a bland shooter that relies mostly on a storyline with an immense twist.

Bioshock Infinite vs Twilight

Bioshock Infinite is like the Twilight series, minus the scruples: Its third act becomes as convoluted and incredible as Bella becoming impregnated by a vampire baby that wants to eat her from the womb.

Bioshock Infinite vs Proteus

Bioshock Infinite is what Proteus wouldve been if they had forced traditional gameplay elements in it: Simply being present in its universe is more consequential than any other, lesser element of the game.

Bioshock Infinite vs Far Cry 3

Bioshock Infinite is Far Cry 3 with opposite priorities: A gorgeous shooter with unnecessary ultra-violence that is accepted because of the overall products excellence.

Bioshock Infinite

There are bound to be a few more succinct comparisons to be made in a snappy one-liner. If you have one, feel free to leave a comment!

10-Crown Jewels. Games awarded 10s are not only masterpieces; they are masterpieces that stand above other masterpieces.

9.5-Masterpieces. I give 9.5s to masterful games that are incredibly well made, but are also deeply resonant. They represent the absolute best their respective genres have to offer.

9.0-Excellent games. 9s are given to games that are absolutely excellent experiences, but have some flaws holding them back from being masterpieces or simply don't have the resonance of 9.5s.

8.5-Great games. A score of 8.5 is given to games that are of very high quality and are also very memorable, but they have certain drawbacks holding them back from excellence.

8.0-Very good games. An 8.0 is a score that I give to a game that I can't really call a great game because of a severe flaw or a high number of small flaws, but 8.0s definitely have certain excellent aspects about them (in the midst of those flaws) that earn them the title of "very good" rather than "merely good."

7.5-Merely good games. 7.5s are definitely good games, but not much more than that. These games are quality experiences but they lack resonant or excellent qualities. Or if they do have excellent qualities, they have extremely severe flaws anchoring them to a 7.5 score despite the excellent bits; a good example of this is Final Fantasy XIII.

7.0-Decent games. 7.0s can offer you a good time, but they are usually merely dumb fun and are not in any way memorable. However, there's nothing offensively wrong with these games; they just fail to make a strong impression.

6.0-6.5-Mediocre games. Games awarded 6-6.5 scores can have plenty of redeaming qualities, but these qualities are smothered by tons of mediocrity or lots of flawed elements. These games are not bad, but they are not particularly good either.

5.0-5.5-Poor games. It's a given that games in the 5 range are mediocre, but 5 range games can either have some extremely low quality elements dragging down any good qualities or they might be so boring that the experience is instantly ruined.

4.0-4.5-Really poor games. Games in the 4.0 and 4.5 range are much like games in the 5.0-5.5, but they are boring, mediocre, and have low quality elements to a greater degree.

3.0-3.5-Broken games. Games in the 3 range are just too broken to be enjoyable. They might have one or two redeaming qualities, but if I give a game a 3 range score, you can be sure that it is a total mess.

2.0-2.5-Absolute garbage. If a game gets a 2 range score from me, the developer probably didn't even try to make a coherent game.

1.0-1.5-Offensively bad. This kind of score is reserved for games that are absolutely putrid. I would only give a score like this to a game like the infamous Big Rigs.

I thought Rapture was an great setting and I really enjoyed the first few hours as a result, but once the wonderment had worn off, I thought the rest of the game was pretty poor. The combat was extremely unsatisfying, the pacing was awful, and the main points of the story were lifted straight out of System Shock 2. However Bioshock lacked all of the tension and interesting role-playing elements of that game. After the famed 'twist,' Bioshock fell to shambles in the final third as the most interesting aspects of the story had been told and the gameplay had become beyond stale.

bioshock-no-gods-or-kings-only-man.jpg

     So as you might expect, I was pretty skeptical going into Infinite. I reluctantly bought it after hearing nothing but unanimous praise for the game, and overall, I thought it was great and a huge improvement over the first Bioshock. The setting is just as interesting as Rapture, but the combat is hugely improved and while the pacing still isn't perfect the narrative drive kept me intrigued and entertained until the end. The story is quite good if not a bit cryptic in its telling, and the characters are generally interesting. The game also sounds and looks great; the soundtrack is very similar to the film 'There Will Be Blood' which is a good thing.

     However, despite really enjoying my time with Infinite, I think it could have been even better. The problem I have with the game is this: you are presented at the start with an extremely rich setting, and exposed to themes of religion and racism. Interesting quotes are displayed prominently in the environments; "what is Columbia if not another arc for another time?" And people yell at you to "go back to the Sodom from which you came!" After a few hours of being exposed to these ideas and messages, I was incredibly interested to see where the story went. The game reminded me at this point of HBO's Carnivale and Paul Thomas Anderson's There Will Be Blood, a show and a film that both took place in the early 20th century that dealt with religious themes and have in my opinion some of the best stories ever told in their respective mediums. I was thrilled that Bioshock Infinite seemed to be following in the footsteps of these masterpieces.

ImageResizer.ashx?n=http%3A%2F%2Fi.hayma

     Yet as the game progresses, the focus is pulled from the themes of religion and racism, and instead is placed on... multiverse theories and quantum physics. Yea. It turns out that these are the narrative elements which Bioshock Infinite hangs its hat on. While the second half of Infinite that focuses on these elements is really interesting and full of cool moments, I can't help but feel that the narrative would have been more meaningful and memorable if it had focused on the aspects of Columbia that make it so strange and enthralling. The character of Comstock is not explored on any meaningful level, yes you can make some inferences about him once you learn that he is Booker later in life from an alternate universe, but you only learn tidbits about how and why Columbia was formed. Why does Comstock consider the world below Sodom, and Columbia an arc? How did he become racist and a proponent of slavery? How did he convince a huge number of people to come live in his city in the sky? We can assume perhaps that his experience fighting aboriginals in the battle of Wounded Knee and exposure to the Boxer Rebellion painted his picture of the world below, but these are things that could have been much more fleshed out.

    We are given glimpses of some very interesting themes and ideas that are swept aside to make way for a complex and convoluted but hardly deep or meaningful science fiction tale. Racism, religion and slavery take a back seat in the narrative to quantum physics and somewhat gimmicky plot twists. Singularity, a game that borrowed heavily from Bioshock and was not aspiring to provide a fresh and exciting video game narrative had many of the same story elements as Infinite; they really aren't as novel or exciting as some people seem to believe.

     These twists and ideas are interesting in and of themselves in the context of Columbia, but they are poorly explained, and have you mulling the ending over not because it questions accepted ideas surrounding the three aforementioned themes but because it is cryptic in its presentation of the ideas. Would people consider the ending brilliant if it was told more plainly and was easier to figure out? Probably not, people like the fact that they need to put the pieces together so that everything makes sense. The final 'twist' is something of a narrative low blow and does not add any richness to the story, and you are left trying to figure out how a low-key guy who doesn't seem to like attention turned into the religious fanatic-come-quantum physicist that Comstock is. Maybe they will flesh that out with DLC, which would a even less appetising possibility.

     Perhaps I am not being realistic in my hopes that developers will challenge directly more mature and adult themes such as racism and religion. Rockstar has in a few games hinted at some interesting ideas like the struggles of immigrants in America with GTA IV, racism against aboriginals in Red Dead Redemption and the class divide in Sal Palo with Max Payne 3. Will there ever come a time when these issues are tackled head on in main stream games, or will they forever be relegated to thematic backdrops while more conventional video game story tropes take center stage?

The first few hours of Bioshock Infinite hinted at something of great narrative significance and depth which I hope one day will make it into mainstream games. Sadly it didn't quite deliver on that potential.

For those not in the know, Capcom announced on the 15th March that a free DLC pack will allow characters and enemies from Left 4 Dead 2 to be used in Resident Evil 6 multiplayer and vice versa. I love Valve games, I love Left 4 Dead and I used to be a huge fan of Resident Evil up until Resident Evil 5 so the thought of this is actually kind of cool to me.

Im pretty sure most of you would agree that adding awesome characters into a somewhat sub-par game isnt really going to make it any better, but adding additional enemies to mix up the pace in an awesome game can never do any harm (I didn't say which was which! You thought it, I didn't say it!). Besides the price tag is $0 so I suppose one shouldnt complain too much

Tokyo?

Did they get to Tokyo by chocolate helicopter?

So why such a collaboration?

Capcom and Valve...these two sure make interesting bedfellows don't they? Capcom have been slandered for their abuse of DLC and half-baked sequels in recent years with no apparent shame over milking the cash cow, whilst Valve have stood firm with a community focused approach encouraging fan satisfaction by delivery consistently high quality (albeit in much lower quantity) titles with sprinklings of free stuff to keep the smiles on gamers faces. It doesnt take a genius to see the potential advantages for Capcoms reputation to be collaborating with such a bastion of consumer satisfaction like Valve, and whilst Valve games always sell well a nice bit of P.R never does any harm in adding to the Half Life 3 budget (since thats where all the money is going right Valve?... right???).

Gaben
'You mean you'd actually pre-order and pay money for Super Half Life Episode 2 Turbo 3D HD Edition?'

Could this mean more cross-overs?

Capcom love cross-overs, it's not exactly news. Perhaps Valve is just like a one night stand for them with some added social benefits? Im sure they will stay friends on Facebook. Valve on the other hand? Perhaps it just adds food for thought in the future as to who elses bed they can slip into when they get a little lonely.

I doubt how far this specific relationship could go to be honest. Perhaps a Team Fortress vs Capcom game would be amusing?  I dont really see that one on the horizon though and Im pretty sure Gordon Freeman is so over Mega Man already. Just a thought, I would pay thousands for a Viewtiful Coach game.

Since Sony is going to possibly announce the PS4 this Wednesday and I hear about 720 rumors I might as well talk about them.

PS4 to have streaming for PS3 games

Looks like PS4 will allow you to play PS3 games after all...through streaming. You need to be online at all times to play PS3 games on it. Might as well own a PS3 in that case for full control and avoid connection issues though it's more convenient to play them on PS4.

PS4 might have a screen on controller

There have been prototypes of the PS4 controller to have a screen on it. I wouldn't mind it as long as it's done well.

PS4 to be 400 bucks

I'm fine with that, though I don't buy consoles at launch, only later.

PS4 to make you pay an online pass when buying used games

Eh, as long as I can play the game used...

720 to have 500GB hard drive, Blu Ray and Kinect

I'm fine with the 1st 2 but they need to improve Kinect for games, Kinect is mainly a success in sales, not in high quality games though.

720 to block used games

Probably the most insane rumor of them all. I don't see it happening and if they go for it I would be shocked. There's so many things wrong with it, like:

Can't find that rare game new since used copies don't exist

Makes renting games impossible with not enough copies

This will make it so games won't drop as fast, longer to wait to get that game you want for a reasonable price

Allows devs to exploit their practices

Killing the used game market

Yeah I don't see this happening. Can't wait until Wednesday though!

We have great games to play with. But there was one thing that I noticed. The sequels are from the games which were about 4-5 years ago. How? Here is the list.

Games of 2008 --> 2013

  • Devil May Cry 4 --> DmC
  • Dead Space --> Dead Space 3
  • God of War: Chains of Olympus --> God of War: Ascension
  • GRID --> GRID 2
  • GTA IV --> GTA V
  • Metal Gear Solid 4 --> Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance

Games of 2007 --> 2012

  • Assassin's Creed --> Assassin's Creed 3
  • Halo 3 --> Halo 4
  • Crysis --> Crysis 3
  • Mass Effect --> Mass Effect 3

Games between the interval 2007 --> 2013

  • BioShock (2007) --> BioShock Infinite (2013)
  • Far Cry 2 (2008) --> Far Cry 3 (2012)
  • Lost Planet (2007) --> Lost Planet 3 (2013)

As you can see, some game are direct sequel that took 5 years. Devil May Cry is a reboot yet a new entry to Devil May Cry saga. Some games took 5 years to have 2 successive sequels. God of War had a prequel to the original and now we will have another prequel to the prequel. GTAIV had DLCs that expanded th GTAIV but now after 5 years we have a direct sequel. It is just like Oblivion (2006) then we had the direct sequel Skyrim (2011) which took 5 years. I am no adding Call of Duty, Need for Speed and FIFA series since they get released annually.

So what are your thoughts about the gaming industry nowadays. If you have other suggestions, put it in the comment.
