Here we are.

Watch_Dogs

Publisher: Ubisoft

Developer: Ubisoft Montreal

Platforms: 360, Wii U, PS3, PS4, XBONE, PC

When this was first revealed last year, I didn't think much of it, especially when the most interesting open-ended action adventure game that interested me most at the time was Square Enix/Eidos and United Front's Triad/Police adventure, Sleeping Dogs (which I still need to play). But overtime, even before this year's event, I started to grow more of an interest. I always did thought it had a unique premise though, around hacking and spying and from what I see in trailers, it makes for an interesting take on being a vigilante.

Super Smash Bros. 4

Publisher: Nintendo

Developer: Namco Bandai

Platform: Wii U, 3DS

Finally revealed and pretty freaking hyped (for my own sake). New fighters, both from Nintendo's own franchises (Animal Crossing Villager and...Wii Fit Girl), and so far, ONE third party character with a strong Nintendo legacy (Mega Man). Who knows what other characters will be in next (be it first or third party characters), but either way, who's up for a good ol' Nintendo crossover beatdown?

Bayonetta 2

Publisher: Nintendo (funding), SEGA (IP owner and advisor)

Developer: Platinum Games

Platform: Wii U

Controversies aside (as well as the fact that I haven't yet played Bayonetta 1, which I'll get for 360), I'm still looking forward to this one, because after a hiatus from publishing M rated games (and having less than pleasent luck save from when they did it the first time when they still had their old buddies at Rare), I'm still heavily backing of Nintendo's will to save this game. From what I see of footage, it's still has that high octane action, brutality and raunchiness of the first game. So those who think Nintendo will censor this game, can we please get off their back for that? I know their censorship is... weird (they censored Thraja's butt in the NA version of Fire Emblem: Awakening and even censored "Damn" in EU and international Trilogy versions of Metroid Prime 3: Corruption for unknown reasons, but there's has been no major reports of third party products being censored by them, not since Mortal Kombat II on SNES), but they seem to be leaving this one alone (didn't think they would mess with it due to SEGA still advising for the game).

Sonic Lost Worlds

Publisher: SEGA

Developer: Sonic Team

Platform: Wii U, 3DS

Speaking of SEGA, time to look at their mascot, Sonic the Hedgehog. With his recent Colors and Generations faring him very well, they announce the Nintendo exclusive Lost Worlds. Some compare it to the cancelled Sonic X-treme for SEGA Saturn, others compare it to Super Mario Galaxy. Me? I just see something retro and new at the same time. For some of the new things, I like the sound of Sonic doing some parkour like things, I mean, with how he runs so fast, I'm surprised he isn't vaulting over obstacles.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Publisher: Konami

Developer: Kojima Productions

Platforms: PS3, PS4, 360, XBONE

I may be a more recent Metal Gear fan (though MGS2 got me started, it was MGS3 that made me more of a fan), but I'm still looking forward to several things on this one. One thing is the open world gameplay, though not a new thing in stealth action (didn't Eidos' Thief use that first?), it does sound like a great concept for the series at least, another is Kiefer Sutherland as Snake/Big Boss. I admit, I will miss David Hayter as the character, but I have no doubts that Kiefer will do a good job as he is a pretty good actor.

Other games to note:

Pokemon X/Y (3DS)

Infamous Second Son (PS4)

Batman: Arkham Origins (Wii U, 360, PS3, PC)

Rayman Legends (Wii U, PS3, 360, Vita)

E3 was great and exausting. Too tired to write up stuff, so here is a video thing about some info and stuff that maybe didn't make it onto the livestreams. Thanks for watching E3 folks - we had record numbers and amazing feedback all week. Really proud to be part of it. Also some questions:

Q: What was your your favourite game of E3?
Q: PS4 or XBOX ONE?

Most of the games seem to lack my interest. Even Gears and Halo are pretty weak when you compare them to Uncharted,The Last of Us,LittleBigPlanet,God of War,MGS4 etc. They are mostly shoot, shoot shoot.

Speaking of The Last of Us I have beaten it and in my opinion it is the frontrunner for GOTY. Is it the best game on the console. I am gonna say not quiet but it certainly deserved the high praise it got but I actually just slighlty perferred Uncharted 2 a little bit more.

I loved the Ellie character more than Joel but not as much as Elena Fisher and I perferred Drake over Joel just my opinion. Overall it's easily one of the best games ever made.

Microsofts great proverbial belly-flops never stopped growing more simultaneously painful and amusing to watch.  The laughable moments accumulated since their revealing of X Box One and just ended today with another statement makes it hard to believe that they actually want their system to succeed.  They tried to act like a bull dog, but came off as brutish and uncaring to their fans, catapulting Sony and Nintendo into trumping position over the Big-N.

Theres no doubt that the graphical capabilities of Microsofts and Sonys new machines are impressive.  Microsoft showed arguably more graphical gravitas than Sony had and seemed to have an upper hand over their relatively long-time gaming rival.  That was until Sony talked about their price-point and first-party used game support wooing us Play Station fans and winning more gamers over.

It hasnt been long since Ive decided to go back to my Sony roots, it just feels like home.  I never felt totally comfortable on the 360, with the controller or with the interface (especially the ads).  The 360 offers some great franchises that Ive had a lot of fun with, but playing the Play Station 3 just adds that comforting sense of familiarity that came with years of owning and playing a PS2.

Thats not only just to say I had some biases going in, but I also harbor a hope that Microsoft does stay healthy.  However, as a coworker said, They didnt just shoot themselves in the foot, they blew their whole [damn] leg off.  Its sad that they seem to succeed by graphical integrity and console features alone.  With higher pricing, 24 hour required internet check in and a broadband-soaking internet service, theres very little reason to go with the big Ms machine over Sonys machine.

Sony and Nintendo had fun mocking Microsofts conference and their responses.  Microsoft just continued to be the pit-bull, showing little tact when discussing fan-related issues.  It was obvious that somewhere they ran off the track.

The X Box One has some impressive games, many of them being exclusives.  In a former life, I would have gladly supported their system over the others, but now that Im older and a bit wiser, I know better.

This years E3 was the best in years, because they focused so much more on games and tech rather than booth babes and swag, at least from what stay-at-homers saw.  The next gen games seem to go back to the roots of why we love to play video games and how our experiences will improve.  Its both a good and intimidating time to be a gamer.  Lets see what happens in the years ahead.

I joined Gamespot on June 16 2004.

in Instand ReKall of admins.

that was about the same time Bethany Massimilla started here.

Remeber those days? the glory days of Gamespot when

BethanyM was the community manager and CJayC was at GameFAQs!

when the boards merged she had admin powers on both sides

which were rarly used since she really was a link between the moderators

and CJayC but she was a more prolific poster and seen as an invader from

GS so when a popular GFAQer got banned for flaming Beth got blamed and

even after she was soley the Gamespot admin and CJayC posted that the

rumor was false and she never banned or evern modded GameFAQers they

always blamed and feared her.

Bethany was held in lower esteem at GameFAQs than the community here

has ever held any of our moderators, any of them you can name!

There was even a Make a BethanyM Mask day held in GF!

we liked and respected her in Gamespot even more probably because of the

way the GameFAQers disrespected our admint.

Jody came along to give her some assistance...then ........

Sophia....and ......

and so it goes......now we only wonder how long Syn will say with us!!!

Firstly my own reaction to the news in it's uncut unedited form http://youtu.be/lGiMoojE8V4

So I'm sitting at my PC desk I have Gamespot's live coverage of the Microsoft conference streaming not much is exciting me. Suddenly the screen glows a green hue and the letters KI are formed this is when I knew Killer Instinct was set to return. We were treated to a short 30 second trailer however just seeing those letters was enough to send me into a crazy frenzy screaming It can't be true the neighbors must think I'm a lunatic by now. I cared little surrounding their opinions of me however as the game I've waited nearly 20 years for is finally getting it's well deserved release.....on the Xbox One

My initial excitement slowly turned to dread as I realized the game was an exclusive on MS's new console. My thoughts turned to money, was I seriously going to spend more than  500 (console, game plus another controller) to enjoy an experience 20 years in the making? Damn right you are, says my inner 14 year old self, you gotta be joking says my 30 year old hardcore gamer pychy. To make matters incredibly worse the more I saw of the game the more I wanted to get my hands on it. Every new KI related video made me hunger more for it, and unquenchable thirst that simply would not be ignored.

Delving deeper into the core mechanics the developers Double Helix are really pushing to make it tournament worthy and casually appealing. Punishing turtle like play and balancing out the combo breaker system is pleasing to the ears of the hardcore tournament player. However alternate colors and costumes plus a comprehensive 1 player experience promise joys to the casual onlooker. The game certainly looks the par too with fully destructible stages fats flowing combat all in beautiful 1080p 60 fps.

At the moment I am in two minds as to what I should do, I love KI and the new game looks amazing however can I really spend that amount of money for one game? What would you guys do given the circumstances?

(50) http://www.gamespot.com/users/Munchgun/show_blog_entry.php?topic_id=m-100-26029946 I've been meaning to just make a quick "Hey, I finally reached level 50 after being gone for forever" a few days back when I did reach it. However, Animal Crossing: New Leaf came in around that time and I pretty much just kept putting it off.

It's 1:40 AM here right now, and I can't get any kind of sleep so why not now?

Ahem, anyway the level name (Strawberry Candy) is....I don't know. I love strawberry candy, so it's delicious? No! Don't correct me! Don't tell me what it's from, don't ruin my dreams! D: Don't you dare shatter them!

Anyway, like I said I've been playing New Leaf and I kinda wanted to share a screeny of my flag. It's kinda old (from a few days ago) so the flag is just a bit different (I gave it a kind of border).

HNI_0020_zpsde55b4ab.jpg

Yup, it's X

I was going to do 8-bit megaman (Because I LOVE Megaman and yes, I was super happy to see he's going to be in the next Super Smash Bros.!) but I decided to go with this instead. I'm not very artistic, but I can count pixels. Minecraft kinda helped with pixel art.....due to pixeling 8-bit megaman and fusion suit samus.

Ah...anyway, I've been taking care of my nephews constantly lately (It's more like they're forced on me ) I have a feeling they like me, but I just get annoyed by the constant yelling of my name to help them with something. Then they just WON'T GO TO SLEEP! The longest I've tried getting them to bed has been nearly 2 hours.

Ahem, anyway! I'd show more screenies (I know I spelled it two different ways but I'm bound to spell it right this way! ) but I'm still only a few days in. I have some stuff set up in me house but.....it's boring.

If anyone wants to visit some time just....well, give me your FC or whatever and your mayor name, etc. If you want.

1:53 now, sleep draws its edge closer.

Oh, and I wanted to yell THANK YOU!!!!!

To my friend dorthie2 for getting me New Leaf as a early birthday present! I'm really broke at the moment (can barely afford to pay my internet) so it means a lot to me!

1:57 AM it draws neacloser. Yes, neacloser.

1:58 AM, oh no. I spent a minute typing neacloser.

Anyway, I better go to bed soon. I shouldn't be sleeping so late.

I...I have no idea how to end this.

I know I've been back for a few months now, since I came back from Jupiter but.....but something feels off.

I lost something that day on Jupiter. Something I can't quite put my finger on. It's like....like.....when you have something wrapped in plastic and you can put your hands on it but you're not really touching it because it's wrapped in plastic so you're touching the plastic instead? *takes a deep breath* It's just like that. Like that freakin' sticky plastic won't let me put my finger on it. Then, when I finally do it's sticky and won't get off my freakin' hand! Then you realized your brother put glue on it. Not REGULAR glue but super clear sticky glue and your hands are stuck to the freakin' plastic, and that makes it even worse!!!

GAH! I HATE STICKY PLASTIC! *throws shoe out the window* Whew, sorry. I just hate it so much.

Wait, where was I again? Sticky plastic? Geez, I HATE that stuff. Don't get me started on it. It's like.....it's just so sticky you know? And it won't come off no matter what you do.

It's almost as bad as gum on your shoes, or even worse. Strings on your fingers! You know how people say no string attached? They don't really mean that there are no strings attached to something they're giving you. They REALLY mean there aren't any that will be attached on your fingers as a trick. Believe me, I know what I'm talking about. You can trust me.

Anyway, I better go now it's 2AM and I really should have tried going to bed quite a while ago. *yawns* If anyone actually read through that you deserve a intynet medal. The chocolate and delicious ones.

Well, hope to blog again soon sometime, and take care everyone! If...anyone still reads these.

Nintendo simply didn't have enough to show, unfortunately. At any rate, I decided to follow suit and do things a little differently this year myself. I spent most of Tuesday on Miiverse, sharing my thoughts as they came to me. Then I decided to wait until the end of E3 to do my traditional blog. Unfortunately Nintendo didn't take advantage of the extra time to announce anything else. A shame.

Show Pros: Direct and to the point - MEGA MAN! IT'S F- MEGA MAN!!

Show Cons: Nothing shown that wasn't announced before hand - No notable 3rd Party support announced - Wii Fit Trainer

Super Mario 3D World

The mystery 3D Mario title has been announced to little fanfare. Which I think is actually a shame because it looks great to me. I loved the mix of 2D and 3D Mario conventions in the 3DS iteration, and I'm happy to see more. It also looks like it's going to be a great multiplayer game; being able to use four unique characters again will be a treat. The cat suit looks great too, and I love the clear pipes!

Day one buy.

---

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze

Retro's mystery project is finally revealed, and the results have proven to be pretty disappointing for many fans. I dunno, I'm not really upset that they're not doing another Metroid, however I would have been a lot more excited to see a new IP or a series revival. That said, while I feel it didn't actually have a lot to do with the original trilogy and that this looks to be more of the same, I enjoyed Donkey Kong Country Returns and I'm sure this'll be great as well. With Dave Wise back for the music, it'll at least sound more like classic DKC I'm sure, and it's nice to see Dixie Kong back again.

Day one buy.

---

Mario Kart 8

Mario Kart 7 and Mario Kart Wii combined and on steroids. Graphically the game was impressive of course and the anti gravity gimmick looks interesting. That said... I feel like the stages have been getting maybe a little too complicated lately and it looks like that's only more true here. Still, I'm definitely willing to give it a chance.

Day one buy.

---

Monolith's "X"

This is the prettiest game I think I've ever seen. That said nothing really new was shown, and since it looks like we're not even far enough in developement to have sorted out the title it looks like we're going to have a loooong wait. I'm sure it'll be worth it.

Day one buy.

---

Bayonetta 2

This definitely looks cool and I was interested in the original... but I never played the original, 'cause I don't have any consoles that it was released on. So I'd definitely be more interested if they'd make it available on the eShop for me to enjoy. Until then, I'm not going to be first in line for this sequel.

Probably later.

---

Super Smash Bros.

Honestly I was not blown away by their presentation. That is until the introduced Mega Man! I've wanted that forever, and Nintendo has decided to keep things classy by using the original Mega Man and not X. Graphically it looks like a slightly more vivid Brawl--nothing to get excited about, which is a shame because Brawl was certainly a visual stand out on Wii. Villager seems like a really (and surprisingly) awesome addition, and I just love what they did with him. Wii Fit Trainer gave me some nerd rage... The roster had better be damn impressive to not feel short changed with her taking up a spot. It's nothing that'll stop me from buying it though... I guess.

Day one buy.

Pokemon X and Y

Obviously Pokemon is going to be amazing. This is fact. I guess we get a Fairy type now, which is pretty cool. Anything to balance out those dragons. Over the course of E3 a handfull of new Pokemon were revealed. The standouts for me were Noivern and Talonflame, but nothing shown was offensive so I'm liking the sixth gen Pokemon a lot so far. Aerial battles were showcased and seem interesting, as well as horde battles. It also looks like the game is going to make fantastic use of streetpass. Overall, very excited. But you already knew that.

I will do anything it takes to get this at midnight.

Closing Comments

So that was the show. As far as what was shown, I'm very happy with it all. As far as what wasn't shown, I'm worried. The Wii U's third party support looks like it's going to be much worse than Wii's, and that's saying something. The only 3rd party game I'm actively anticipating is Sonic: Lost World. Nintendo sadly didn't have any surprises of its own, either. Nothing was shown that wasn't known about before hand, and most of what was is slated for a 2014 release, so I guess we'll have plenty of time to save up. It's also worth noting that no new 3DS games were announced--yes, I know that the system is doing relatively well, but I can't remember the DS going without any announcements at E3. I certainly wasn't impressed with Nintendo's showing, and it's looking more and more like I'll have to get a PS4 too. No Kingdom Hearts!?

So, perhaps it is time to reiterate. At the Xbox One's unveiling several weeks ago, Microsoft gave the impression that the console was 'always on' and would have to be physically unplugged to prevent the mandatory Kinect functions measuring sound and identifying the faces of people in the room. More recent information however suggests that some of these fears may be unwarranted.

According to Xbox One's own offical website, 'you are in control of what Kinect can see and hear' outlining clear privacy options that can be determined by the user at set up. The website also insists 'when Xbox One is on, and youre simply having a conversation in your living room, your conversation is not being recorded or uploaded' and that Kinect, when on, is only listening out for specific voice commands.

Anyone who is familiar with Alienware technology may know most of their computers arrive with software that is able to recognise the face of the user via an integrated webcam instead of a standard password when logging into Windows. This feature can be turned on or off at will. If Microsoft is to be believed, the Kinect features similar options.

Stephen Totilo of Kotaku recently published an article suggesting the Xbox One may not be spying on everyone after all and the confusion surrounding the console stems from mixed messages and unclear advertising from Microsoft during the unveiling. A Microsoft representative explained to him via email; 'yes, you can turn the system completely off' implying the existence of a power button. While Microsoft tauted the consoles ability to be 'always on', their failure to specify that the console could in fact be powered down if the user chooses is likely what sparked the controversy to begin with.

Some concern may have been brought about by the vastly superior Kinect sensor; the ability to see in the dark, capture facial expressions and the option to remain on stand by while still listening out for voice commands may give the impression of being watched.

On article on Digital Spy also confirmed the Kinect sensor itself could be turned off and would not record or upload without permission.

At the moment, the information being released by Microsoft suggests the console will not be spying on its users. The privacy options stated to be available appear to be similar to what is already available on the Xbox 360 which allowed players to block or allow Kinect and the recording of movements and fitness information.

Firts thing's first. Due to the Wii-U having heart attack prices, I will not be playing this version of the game for quite some time. Like a few years. The Wii-U library doesn't really appeal to me so far, so I'm either going to wait until I hear about enough games to warrent paying that amount of money or just wait for the prices to go down.

However, I do plan on getting a 3DS soon for Pokemon X and Y versions, so I will be getting that version at some point soonish!

Now for those of you who don't want the game spoiled I won't go into too much detail. Both versions are slower paced and a speed up feature is presant, but it doesn't look like a boost to win scenario - and I'm glad to be honest. Yeah I did like Unleashed and generations etc, but I think it's about time they tried something else. Sonic can now run up trees and along walls which looks fun. Good old spin dash is back and apparently the wisps make a return too!

Alot of people have noted that the game looks like it's trying to rip off Mario Galaxy. Well aparently Sega and Nintendo are now in partnership, so I suppose that would be Nintendo ripping themselves off. Although when I saw it, I thought it looked more like they were trying again for an old forgotten unreleased title Sonic Xtreme for the Sega Saturn. The green hillish level in Lost Worlds looks alot like Jade Gully from Sonic Xtreme. (Hence the title 'Lost World' hmmmm) There is also a subtle refreance to Xtreme in the 3DS version, there is a wisp that turns Sonic into a saturn. lol.

There are some gameplay vidoes up for both versions of Lost Worlds on youtube if you want to go see - i will say no more on what the gameplay looks like in terms of facts.

Now things that I'm not so please with. Sonic is the only playable character. That has been confirmed. Come on, I want to play as Tails and Knuckles again! And also I think the game is only 6 worlds each with 3 acts - so 18 stages + some (more than likily) extra ones. I'm getting a bit sick of these Sonic games that you could complete in a day if you really wanted to. Colours was fine, as for me it did offer enough and had me want to replay the levels often enough so it laster quite a long time for me. Generations was a missed oppertunity, and was far too short and although good, didn't offer enough.

I also hope Sega can keep a can on it this time. For generations, all levels and bosses were anounced before the game was even released, so there was no surprises. Even on GS it would pop up in me news feed thing "Level x confirmed for generations" I want there to be some surprise when I play the game. I have spoiled a bit for myself obviously, but I do want to not hear anymore until I get to play the 3DS version.

Moaning aside. I actually have a feeling that this will be a really good game! I am quite excited for it. The Wii-U version looks better and it may be a few years before I get to try it. But I am still excited for the 3DS version. The last time I had a really good feeling about a Sonic game was Sonic colours, and that far from dissappointed me and I will actually say that Colours has been the best game since Adventure 2! I'm hoping my experience with Lost Wolrd 3DS version is the same!

All in all, I am looking forward to this game! :-D

I watched the E3 TV Preview and noticed a couple of games I haven't been following! Is there any other games you're looking forward to this year? I'm keeping an eye on the gems and plan to follow the game page to get updates about them.

Things have been doing pretty good with the new gig. It sometimes doesn't feel like work because it is that much fun. Our game will be at the NVIDIA booth so if you're attending be sure to drop by to check out the tech destruction demo, currently not in the open beta. Oh, I guess the secret is out if you follow my Twitter (HWKJody. The game is HAWKEN.

Lastly, I can't believe my last blog reached over 200 comments. Thanks again for everyone's kind words. I only saw one rage quit from  the site, and even he wished me well. Also, if you don't already have me on Steam (xpcaligirl) or Raptr (CaliGirl), feel free to add me!

And.. have a Happy E3 week full of exciting news and hype! I'll have to make sure I take a peek in System Wars this week to see what you all think about the hardware and games. <3

I've heard more than a few "What time does X Conference start for me?"
Well, I've taken a list of various time zone areas that I've hear people request for over the past few days and put them together in this nifty list.

To help you on your quick search,
- Hit "Ctrl and "F"" this will bring up a prompt for you to enter text into a field.
- Search for your region.

If it's not included in the list and you think that it should be, feel free to comment below. Otherwise, you can check to see what time it starts for you by going to each of the conference pages and looking at the count-down timer.
