Why buy this game when you can download better RPG Makers off the internet for free.

To be fair, at one point I was addicted to this game until a friend of mine told me about RPG Maker 2000 and I eventually decided to make a game using RPG Maker 2003. Where do I begin, the way you have to type text in RPG Maker is annoying, you can't "type" it out like you do on a keyboard, you have to press the X button on each letter. You're limited to 15 playable characters, 250 enemies, 250 items, and 250 magic spells and special attacks. That's bad compared to RPG Maker 2000 & 2003's limit of 5,000 in each category. During a cut-scene, you cannot make 2 NPCs move to a chosen spot at the same time. You only get 99 enemy graphics to choose from and you have to go to Anime Maker, which comes with the game to make more and your limit for your project is 14 (and each one takes up a block on your memory card). That's another issue, the PS1 memory card's severe limitations are a major issue. If you try and dive deep into making your project, you'll find that you've used up all 15 blocks for either System or Scenario data before you know it. And if your characters in your game reach Level 22 or Level 23 (can't remember which one), it'll take the same amount of experience points for them to level up for any level after that. I don't know of any other RPG that does things this way, that's just weird. There are 35 songs, you can't make or download more and 95% of them suck. You can't have dialogue during battle. You only get 3 elements to choose from and the way the enemies either take half damage or no damage or double damage is chosen by RPG Maker, not you. The magic making system is very limited and there's only so many sound effects to choose from (can't remember how many exactly). Do yourself a favor, download RPG Maker 2000, 2003, XP or you might even have a better experience making RPGs with Game Maker (even though that program wasn't designed for RPG making, I'm pretty sure you can if you figure out how). I'm currently making a project called Clique War and with a game that's gonna be as uber complex as Clique War, RPG Maker for the PS1 definitely doesn't cut it. That's one more thing, what are you supposed to do if you finish a project with RPG Maker for the PS1. Let your friends play, maybe give copies away or sell them to people but you'd have to buy a memory card for each copy and the player would need a copy of RPG Maker so there's really no point in doing so. RPG Maker 2003 games you can simply put them on the internet for people to download, thus getting your project that took you a long time to make to a lot more people. RPG Maker for the PS1 is just a waste of time when there are so many better game making programs to use.
