As a sequel it's done pretty well, adds a few more facilities and historical aspects to TW series. Excellently moddable.

In stores nowadays, one can buy this game for less than ten Euros. The price is worth paying it, but as an expansion for RTW Gamespot by far overrates it. This one is great in many aspects, but the most important thing is its perfect base as an upgrade of RTW for modders. Playable hordes are great fun and terribly cruel to the conquered. If you were always annoyed being occupied by taking care of your cities and its inhabitants from avoiding them to revolt against you, then this RTW face-lifting game sequel is what you were waiting for. Graphically there is no great enhancement compared to RTW, game mechanics have been upgraded giving the new factions a deeper strategic character. The Hording thing is one to remember as it is only in this game of the TW series that make truly sense concerning historical correctness, which has not been achieved all the time by Activsion in the past and following games as well. As a historic game, focusing on the great migration period of the late antiquity in Europe it only sets up there keeping al other areas of the world outside the stratmap. This is one of the major reasons why it has been heavily modded over the last years since its appearance. It is indeed fun to play in the role of the hopeless West Roman Empire only to struggle from one conflict into another, which is astonishingly accurate concerning its rather sloppy researched historical background. Despite the fact, that this game is nothing more than an upgraded RTW, this sequel is worth playing it and being modded thereafter.
