Is this really for everyone? or just the fan...?

User Rating: 7.3 | Romancing SaGa: Minstrel Song PS2
Romancing SaGa is one of the longest running series from Squaresoft (now known as Square-enix) has been recently released for the Playstation 2. What stands out the most in the game is probably the graphics. With the colorful graphics the game looks different from most… which looks very similar to watercolor. This is a good thing and a bit of a disappointment. While the graphics aren’t too smooth, the animations flow smoothly in the liquid like graphics.

The game contains tons of unique characters; Gray is probably my favorite due to his swordsmanship and just his alternate attitude. With over 28 different playable characters with each unique story and background information it helps the player get involved greatly in the story making the game more enjoyable.

Gameplay is, you can say old school although it’s not the greatest or most exciting you’ll ever play. Square-Enix has already released some more interesting and more entertaining battles for Star Ocean 3 and Radiata Stories. This game will have you slowly selecting each players plays in a huge menu which is OK, just isn’t overall that much fun. The old school play by play battle system is one of my favorite, I don’t care what anyone says, I still find that enjoyable.

The game has A LOT of potential; the classic games help the game become more understandable and of course more enjoyable to the fans. Although the graphics can be a turn off to most people and as many cool scenarios there are, it just isn’t THAT interesting of a story. On the positive side, it does have a good variety of music and cool moves.

The game has a lot to approve in, but if you a fan of the series, you will defiantly dig this game.
