Outstanding: lived up to its promise! Bought an ibanez grx20, started with Rocksmith and learned how to Really play. A+

- The Bottom Line:
- "Instant classic"
What's best about Rocksmith is that it actually works as promised, and does so in a great way. 50+ songs are instantly unlocked from the start, which is a big plus. It does teach you how to play guitar- fast. I'd never played before, but Rocksmith got me up to speed in just days, which is a pleasant surprise. Teaches you how to play specific notes and chords in realtime, and is extremely well designed. An instant classic.
For all you former plastic guitar controller playing guys like me who said in years past, "this is silly pressing colored buttons", (albeit fun), this takes the genre to a whole new level. Well worth getting (I bought an fullsize ibanez grx20 for about $200, super guitar). Run sound through a stereo amp (to speakers or headphones), not in game, using ps3 component out.
Agree w/reviewer about it could use improvement in the career progression feeling mode; those were better executed in RB, the crowds/being on tour, unlocking new venues/cities, was done better in the prior plastic-controller games... but Rocksmith does what it says it'll do, which is a turning point in video game history -- actually TEACHING you something you can Really use, vs just for fun stuff from games. Looking forward to new DLC and updates in the franchise, this one's definitely a winner. Best game purchase I've made in 30 years., because "its not just about the game, it's about real guitar playing" (and ubi yes you can use that as a marketing hook). Nice work - if you want to play guitar, buy this game.

Great introduction to the series, but many improvements required.
