It takes rockband to the next level, with an awesome set list and online system!

I didn't play the first rockband a whole lot (just once i think) so comparisons to the first one are kept to a minimum here.
This game is just pure awesome! it has one of the best set lists i have ever seen, and it executes it really well. I love how complex the gameplay is, and how in career mode you have to gain fans and play songs well in order to advance in it! (not sure if first one was like this, i didnt play career on it). Online works well, as it stays connected while you play, so that you can easily access any battles that might be going on. Those are great fun, and last a few days so you can play it over again to improve your score! There are lots of different types too, like note streak or just plain highest score to win.
The gameplay is not changed much, rockband is still easier than GH, and still funner to play in my opinion, especially in a full band! i don't really know what makes it funner, it just is... It's a matter of opinion i guess. Guitar and drums work well, and the vocals too. I mostly use drums or guitar, and activating overdrive on both is easy. with the guitar its the classic tilting, and drums you play a small freestyle area and finish with the green pad to activate it. very practical, and a lot better than the GH way. It's great how in this game when you are playing a solo it shows your percentage, and gives you points based on it. Also, it shows how many stars your performance is getting, and plays a sound whenever you get a new one. That is really useful, and makes playing more practical. The big finishes are also cool, at the end of some songs they will give your band a while to play whatever notes you want, the more you play the more points you get, and then all members have to hit a final note right after so that the points actually go into your score. That is just awesome, playing Let there be Rock by AC/DC is the best example of this feature, the ending is just epic.
That's another great thing about this game, the songs.. they are mostly awesome to play and listen to! Even songs i don't really enjoy listening to so much, i enjoy playing a lot. There are a lot of songs that are also in GHWT, but their gameplay is so different you hardly notice. Some are better in one game, some in the other.. some are harder in one game, some in the other. It's really well balanced in that sense, so that if you have both games, you get 2 completely different versions of a few songs! The DLC is as always great too. A lot of good free songs and a lot more payed ones. And its updated often, so you never really get bored of the same old songs.
I really like this game, a lot more than GH, but that's just my opinion.. i enjoy both, rockband provides a more fun and generally more accessible game, while GH offers a harder more hardcore game, for people looking to really shred! I recommend getting both games, with the GH instruments, if you don't have the rockband drum set, because then you can enjoy both the games, and be prepared for great GH games such as GH: Metallica that's coming out soon. That's the setup i have, and it works great.
Well, that's it for this review, i hope you enjoyed it, check out my GHWT review!!
