This game is probaly for fans only unless your looking for something new.
This game is all about story mode cause multiplayer is only 1 vs. 1 Deathmatch and isn't really fun at all.
If you've watched Robotech: Macross Saga some of the events will be familiar but not the same because the main character in Robotech: Battlecry is Jack, a mercinary fighter pilot, who has recently joined Robotech.
You play as a mercenary pilot Jack who has recently joined Robotech (basically a defensesforce against alien invaders). And you are now the pilot of a "Veritech". Veritechs have the ability to transform inbetween three different modes-Jet, Gaurdian, and Battleoid.
The control might take some time to master but after playing for a little while it will be easier to move around. Their is also a training mode where you can practice using the Battleoid, Gaurdian, and Jet mode.
Their are also a good amount of missions but not a whole lot that will leave you wanting to play it again.
The earlier missions are still very easy but as you go along the missions will get harder. Sometimes you will find yourself repeating the same mission over and over just to continue.
If you find yourself in a real bind and are desperately trying to complete the level their are cheats that can be used to make the mission a little easier. Cheats can be found at www.gamespot.com
Also by completing certain tasks you will be awareded medals and when you earn certain medals you will unlock paint designs, stronger Veritech models (the stronger the veritech model the less armor), multiplayer levels, and special armors that can be used with your veritech on certain types of missions.
The Veritechs themselves looks decent however it could be better. But the map details aren't that great especially the little people running around since they look pretty bad and the bulding details aren't that great eaither however the enemies also look decent. The AI is fairly good because in the later levels you will find yourself with low health and your barely past the half the level and when fighting bosses you will have to make use of all your veritech modes at times. Boss battles can take a while to finish so make sure you use a lot of missles and evade their attacks.
This game doesn't have a high replay value either.
This game does provide a fun experience and is a nice change of pace compared to other shooters.
This game is also uniquely different due to the ability to transform inbetween 3 different forms at all times.
Overall this game is good. The multiplayer could've been better especially since you only can play 1 vs. 1 deathmatch and your even given huge maps to play on but you only have 2 ppl playing so it takes forever just to find your enemy.
