Another solid racing game for the Sega Genesis

User Rating: 7.5 | Road Rash GEN
The Sega Genesis featured plenty of awesome racing games back in its heyday, and one of the many classic driving titles for the console is 1992's Road Rash. This game was quite different from most other early nineties' racing titles in that, aside from the obvious fact that it featured motorcycles instead of cars, it was much more combat-based, and even more complex, than other racers from its time period. Road Rash is still a very fun game twenty years later, and although it's not flawless, it's worth playing if you enjoy old school racing games.

Road Rash is a fairly standard motorcycle driving game in a few areas, but the violent game mechanics that allow you to push other players off of their bikes sets it apart from earlier titles in the genre. I think this makes for a really fun and, in many ways, timeless classic. The graphics have of course aged over the last twenty years, but the gameplay is still smooth and playable. Though Road Rash is not quite among my favorite racing titles for the Sega Genesis, it's definitely a very recommendable title. This isn't worth breaking the bank over, but if you can find the cartridge for a decent price, this game can provide hours of 16-bit enjoyment.
