A different type of RPG, but that's not a bad thing.

User Rating: 8.1 | Riviera: Yakusoku no Chi Riviera GBA
A port of the Wonder Swan Color game. There really isn't much more background information than that.

Story: The story is very engaging. You are a Grim Angel. You must destroy Riviera. But a spirit named Ursala takes you to Riviera. You wake up, remembering nothing. You make friends in Riviera, and try to save Riviera from demons.

Gameplay: The gameplay is pretty simple. Out of battle, it's a little "click and point" type of feel to it. Very unique for a handheld video game. There is also a Shenmue like QTE events in this game, that I thought was a pretty cool idea. In battle, you pick up to four weapons for three different characters to defeat the enemy. And no, there isn't a way around the enemies. You must fight every single one. Still, it is pretty fun.

Graphics: The graphics for the sprites themselves is good. The hand drawn profiles are really well done. The full art backdrop cut scenes however, are similar to those of the Rockman Zero series, and I love the art in all four of those games. The special attack graphics are pretty good too.

Sound: The sound is alright for this game. Nothing extremely dramatic. It follows the mood a little. The voice of the characters however are pretty good.

Lasting Appeal: Unless you want to collect every single thing from the game and get all six endings, then you wouldn't want to play it again, unless you found the game extremely fun.

Final Thought: The game is very addictive, and fun at the same time. Defiantly worth a try.
