Good for pve players. Bad for pvp players.
The graphics are actually quite good for an MMO. I know a lot of people disagree with that though. There are several graphical bugs that were present during my entire stay that were never fixed (character disappearing for example). The game is not very well optimized and people running beast machines still end up with very low fps in crowded fights. There appears to be no work being done by Trion to improve this.
The voice acting in this game is a joke. Other sounds in the game are average I suppose.
PVE - RIFT will keep you busy if you're a pve player. Most of the quests are the standard "pick up ten of this, kill ten of that" so don't expect much more than that from the questing. The raids are enjoyable and raids seem to be added at a nice pace. I think anyone that's into raiding would love the constant content coming from Trion.
Rifts - It's the name of the game, and they are actually fun to close at first. It doesn't take long before you just feel like you're just mindlessly grinding though. Zone events can and will take over quest hubs, putting many solo questers at a dead end until the event is over. The zone events can be fun at times but also feel like a race.
PVP - The pvp is fun to play, while leveling. When you reach max level it becomes a mess. I've seen class imbalance before but nobody does class imbalance like RIFT does. Every patch will bring a new flavor of the month spec, which the majority will jump on, or create alts to play. These pvp "fixes" are few and far between and never really fix anything. They just rotate which class will be nearly impossible to kill for the next few months. The gear gap is awful. Expect to die constantly for weeks or longer before you can compete with top rank players. Being top rank is fun for a bit but stomping players with half of your health gets old quick. Trion does not worry about or put much work into pvp and it shows. You will see countless new raids added to this game but will wait months for new warfronts and never see them. TL;DR AVOID THIS GAME AT ALL COSTS IF YOU PLAN TO PVP A LOT. SKILL DOESN'T HAVE MUCH TO DO WITH SUCCESS IN THIS GAME.
Last I checked there is a free trial up to level 20 so anyone reading this can go judge for themselves. Overall a decent experience if you primarily pve. If you enjoy pvp more then you'd be better off looking elsewhere.
