Neo Turf Masters Review

Neo Turf Masters follows in the footsteps of games like Mario Golf and Hot Shots Golf, and delivers a similarly fun golf experience.

The arcade-style golf game is back in vogue, with games like Mario Golf and Hot Shots Golf leading the way. Neo Turf Masters follows in the footsteps of these other games, delivering a similarly fun golf experience.

Fans of other golf games won't have much trouble picking this one up. It stays pretty true to the standard golf game formula. All you really need to do is pick from one of six golfers, pick one of three courses, and tee off. There are other, more in-depth options, such as versus play and tournament mode. In versus games, you can earn special golf clubs, known as the golf clubs of legend. These clubs, complete with cute names like "the three wood of flame," pack an extra punch, but can only be used once.

The swing meter is slightly different than most golf games on the market. The first press of A starts the meter, and the second picks your shot power. But the third picks whether you want a high shot or a low shot. Low shots will do things like skip across ponds and lakes, while skying the ball will let you drop it right on the green without as much spin.

The one real hassle about Neo Turf Masters is that the link cable is required for two-player matches. The two-player mode could have played on one unit just as easily. But beyond that oversight, it's great fun for anyone that enjoys arcade-style golf games.
