Crush Roller Review

Crush Roller isn't a bad game, but it doesn't go out of its way to be super-interesting, either.

Crush Roller is based on a 1981 arcade game of the same name. While the original game came and went pretty quickly, mostly due to a similar maze game known as Pac-Man, this portable version adds a multiplayer mode and multiple mazes, making it significantly more interesting than the original game.

Instead of a little round guy eating dots, you're a paint brush painting roads. But wait! There are evil monsters on the road, and they really don't want to see you complete the your road painting mission. Thankfully, there are strategically placed paint rollers in each level, that allow you to scoot ahead and crush the monsters. Paint the entire road, and you'll get to see the next level. Multiplayer mode lets two players paint at the same time, but any monsters that are crushed are sent over to your opponent's maze. Finally, trial mode times how long it takes you to complete each level.

Crush Roller isn't a bad game, but it doesn't go out of its way to be super-interesting, either. If the NGPC version of Pac-Man feels a little one-dimensional, Crush Roller is a more vibrant, option-laden maze game, but that's about it.
