A good game, but not without faults...

Nevermind

Difficulty: Hard

Classification: Worth Playing

Time spent: 20-40 hours

So, firstly I would like to say why I found myself playing ET:
Since I am not over 18 yet I'm still living by my parents and after my Windows XP broke and my parents said I'd have to wait until the summer-holidays to get a new one, I was searching for free fps games for Mac (since I was using an account on my mums computer), if possible online since I had found BF2142 (which I had been playing before) so fun!
I have devided my review into 3 parts:

Gameplay
I was at first very impressed by the teamwork-based structure of this game, there are 5 different ****s each with their strengths and weaknesses (Soldier, Medic, Engineer, Covert Ops, Support).
Some weapons are quite a bit stronger than others (Bazooka, Rifle with a Grenade-launcher), this is supposed to be balanced by the fact that only one person on one team can have it, imo it still takes the fun away since it can be annoying to be killed by the same player again and again.
Assault Rifles, Shotguns, Sniper rifles are very weak (e.g.:I'm a good sniper, but 3 headshots for a kill is ridiculous) and need a buff, but thankfully there are lots of guns in the game [[[Heavy Assault Rifle, Flamethrower, Heavy Machine Gun, Venom=Gatling Gun, Mortar, Bazooka, Light Assault Rifle/MP, Rifle with an attached Nade-Launcher, Shotgun, Silenced MP/LAR, Sniper Rifle, K42 (something like that )]]], each side (Axis and Allies) having slightly different ones (excluding a few).
The medic ****is the ONLY one which can heal and support the ONLY one which can supply people, this can be annoying, but thankfully the players are in general quite helpful (and there are places on the map where you can resupply and heal) and you'll never find 5 medics run right over you while you lie calling for help, main reason for this would be the ability to 'quick-chat by pressing 'v' and then a number for a medic/ammo and a sign appears above your head (and on the mini-map) immediately alerting all near you, and excellent feature which works really well!
Generally a teams objective will be the take in 'flag points', escort tanks or trucks or steal some object. On the way Engineers/Covert Ops will use their dynamite/satchels to blow certain obstacles up to help the team achieve their goal.
Now to the thing that annoys me most, has wrecked my game-play experience and made sure after getting my new PC that I will not return to this game (o_0): THE AIMING SYSTEM!
This is the worst one I've ever seen, maybe BF2142 has biased me in a way, but noway should one be able to shoot while jumping (and by double-pressing 'space' you jump even higher...)! There is basically no difference between shooting while moving or standing and crouching/lying down is only useful when using cover! And the fact that you shoot while running ridiculously fast! At 50m range people run sideways while shooting back an forth trying to dodge all the incoming bullets (did I mention there is excluding the sniper rifle no scope?)! Another annoying thing is how in firefights you can get stuck against other players! As I just said because of the aiming system all firefights consist of running as fast as possible around, suddenly finding yourself sticking to some other player can be immensely annoying (you can shove someone away when currently using a pistol, but...) *forces himself to end his rant*
Okay so... one earns XP (points) by shooting resupplying, healing etc.
This gives your characters extra abilities like carrying 2 pistols and healing/resupplying other people with each given "lunch-box" more.
This is registered individually by every server and not all save it so that when you come back to it you don't have to start again. To see any statistics you have to go on the server website and hope they have any (usually they show a website in-game saying where to look for them, if there are any).

7/10

Graphics & Sound
For a game produced in 2003, I find the graphics pretty good, there is some blood (which can bother your aiming but it's nothing serious) and helmets can be shot off. Landscapes are generally nice to look at with a pretty big variety of them. Basically everything looks okay, not great, but okay.
Weapons and Explosions sound great. And the 'quick chat' gives a wide variety of things to say (playing as Axis you'll hear them in German although with an accent).

8 /10

End-statement (tilt)
It is a good game, and teamwork certainly makes this a fun game to play with on public servers or in clan matches, but as I have said before, the aiming system really ruined it; spoiling a game with great potential. I guess there are people who prefer that system, but I don't think I'm the only one with my opinion. I bet there will be some people who say: "you give this game 7.5/10 because of the aiming system?"
Well as I pointed out the game isn't perfect (imbalances etc.), but the aiming system reduced my score by far the most compared to the other negatives.
Luckily this game is free, so if you currently don't have a game to play try this out, you might like it. If you got something else at the moment like BF2142, BF2, CoD4, FFoW etc. I suggest you play the latter

End score: 7.5/10 good

Hope you like the review!
