User Rating: 4.5 | Retro Atari Classics DS
Although it may be great to see your some of you're favorite Atari games to hit the DS, the games have been poorly transferred.

The presentation is basically severely lacking with only a total of ten classic Atari games. You have Asteroids, Breakout, Centipede, Gravitar, Lunar Lander, Missile Command, Pong, Sprint, Tempest, and Warlords packaged in the DS version of Retro Atari Classics. Also, you can't save your high scores either.

The graphics look similar to their Atari counterparts, but the remixed versions of these games look very childish and it was basically coated with paint.

The sounds are straight up from their Atari counterparts. You still get to hear the infamous beeps and noises.

The controls are often a mess with some of these games. For example, in the space shuttle game, you have to control your space ship when you try to land it down. I noticed that the spaceship just spins out by itself, and controlling the vehicle hardly even moves it. Also, in Warlords, the controls were loose and sloppy meaning it was difficult to control your man to protect your wall against AI players. In Pong and Breakout the controls were responsive, but the overall game play feels lackluster to enjoy playing it over and over again. These are just some examples having a mixture of poorly controlled games and well controlled simple games.

The lasting appeal is generally poorly mixed games. Having only ten games isn't going to be enough to satisfy old school gamers out there. Also, you can only play multiplayer modes when they all own the same game. There is no single card download multiplayer which is a big disappointment. I recommend that you don't buy Retro Atari Classics and buy Atari Anthology for the Playstation 2 instead.
