Out of the three Resistance titles, the last entry is the most disappointing.
What I find disappointing about Resistance 3 is the campaign, and my review is only base the campaign. The story of Resistance 3 revolves around the new protagonist going to New York to destroy a tower, so the chimera are wiped, and apparently the new protagonist is the only one capable of destroying the tower. Not the best plot, but it was entertaining, I can not say the same about the battles.
The gameplay of the last two Resistance titles were fun and engaging, and in Resistance 3 all that is gone. The gameplay is slow to begin with, you have to wait for your opponents to appear and when they do they are extremely easy to kill, then you are just following a non player character to lead you to your objective and that happens throughout the game and it is very boring. The battles were never repetitive in the last two titles, yes they all require shooting, but your different opponents require different tactics to defeat them, not in Resistance 3, all you do is shooting at you opponents, and it gets boring after a while. It is boring because you are only battling against the same opponents over and over again, the variety opponents are still present in the Resistance 3 but their encounters are scarce. Resistance 3 starts to get interesting only towards the end.
Now one thing that I enjoyed about Resistance 3 and I am guarantee that most fans of the series will also enjoy is the improve graphics. Finally the game gets current gen graphics, it just that the game looks beautiful but the rest of the game is kind of boring at time.
The game is worth at least a rental, or a purchase at a discount. To those that never played the Resistance game i recommended that you play the first two titles and not start with the latest because newcomers will obviously be turned off by the stale gameplay of Resistance 3
