Resistance 3 is an epic Playstation exclusive which is a must play!
Resistance 3 is set 4 years after the second game, and this time there is a change in protagonist as well as Joseph Capelli from the second game is now the main character in this one. Capelli has settled down in Haven after the world has literally been taken over by the chimera completely and now humans are struggling to survive. Fyodor Malikov also makes a return to this game, and what ensues after the first level is now a road trip across America to New York to give one last effort to beating the chimera. The story in my opinion is the best so far in the series, with some great set pieces and the story being paced out really well, it really does offer a glimpse into how bleak and how grim the world now has become with the chimera in full control. Capelli as the main character is likeable, and throughout the campaign you develop more of an understanding of how he feels and how he will stop at nothing to give his last effort in the battle against the chimera. With much better cut scenes in this game, and a nice cast of voice actors the story really gets put across well and is thoroughly enjoyable to experience until the very end, and to reveal some twists along the way.
Resistance 3 is an incredibly gorgeous game. Every environment you encounter in the game is incredibly well varied and looks absolutely stunning. The art design has gone back to basics to the original of adding the grim look, but also sharpening these up to to look like one of the best games on the Playstation 3 to date. The chimera also are brutally realistic, and old enemies return as well as new ones introduced which offer some incredibly fun battles, and also boss battles that will be remembered. This also branches into the category of sound as the chimera sound deadly as well as look it, from the ferocious noise of the hybrid, to the gut wrenching scream of the grim, the games sound design is superb. There are a great host of weapons here too. Everyone looks incredibly finely tuned and detailed, sound fantastic and handle really well with excellent solid gunplay. Old guns such as the Bullseye and Carbine return, with new weapons such as the Deadeye and the Atomizer. Each gun us well varied and are excellent to use, and the return of the weapon wheel allows you to use any weapon in battle when you want which just increases the fun. Each weapon can be upgraded adding new abilities to either primary or secondary fire and making the gun look much more brutal.
Resistance 3's multiplayer has taken a change this time, with the 60 player battles from the original game gone, there are now 16 player battles. This offers a much better experience, with greater firefights and epic online encounters to be had, the game never gets old. As you level up and gain xp, you unlock new weapons or new abilities, and these new abilities are never overpowering but add a uniqueness to resistance 3's online experience which is very fun and very addictive. There are a total of 60 levels in Resistance 3, with multiplayer skins, weapons, abiltites, titles adding varied customization to your look in battle and the way you play.
There are not too many bad points to note about Resistance 3, a minor thing to note would be that the ending maybe could have been developed further in the campaign, and the multiplayer when early levels can be overpowered by higher levels players.
Overall Resistance 3 is an incredible game, with lots of cool weapons, amazing environments, excellent gameplay and an enjoyable multiplayer experience to make Resistance 3 one of the best games on the Playstation 3.
