Perfect compliment to the series, and a great intense game, worth buying and keeping

User Rating: 10 | Resistance 3 PS3
I liked the first two games, and was wary that this would not live up to those, however I was pleased to find it is the near perfect compliment. The gameplay has advanced quite a bit with flawless integration of cut scenes and game. The graphics are dark and forboding as you would expect with the country ruined by the Chimera invasion and a brutal war and resistance. The story in Resistance is as compelling as any you will find in a game, and better than you will find in any other shooter to date. I find the alternative history and concept of the chimera done extremely well.

The weapons are all original inventions and sound perfect for what they are. They have alternate modes which makes for great tactical game play in both Sp and MP. I am half way through the campaign and I already want to play it again. I will have no problem with replay value for this installment making it well worth the $60.

MP has been executed extremely well. I find it very balanced though slightly a disadvantage when your level 1, but ability to level up fast for the first few levels and get into the action. The lower player count makes it far less chaotic than R2 and was a very welcome addition to the series.

Co-op is something different. R2 had about the best co-op available with 8 player team based action that invites players to work together naturally and is a blast on huge maps, and allowed multiple PSN sign ins in the same room. I still play R2 coop for fun. R3 tries a different approach by using co-op to allow you to do the campaign with a friend or family member. I found this a welcome addition. Rather than watching each other play, both can log in to their PSN account and do the missions together. A great experience for friends and family.

The reviewer complained about matchmaking in co-op. Obviously he didn't play this because it would be stupid to have match making in co-op. It's purpose is solely to allow you to play with you friends in campaign, rather than have them watch you. If you want matchmaking R2 already has that executed perfectly so why would you want to buy it again? Get R2 for matchmaking excellent co-op. if you want to play a campaign with a friend in the room, both logged in to PSN than get R3.

If the reviewer wants to buy the same thing over and oner again in a series than he should stick to COD. i have R, R2, and R3 each with uniques attributes that I love. Each game offers you a unique campaign, co-op and MP experience, so each game is worth replaying many times.
