Thanks. I'm surprised i havent been moded yet.
loll! I feel bad for slim-j. Now that the latest patch is on and you cant switch your gun until the end of the shooting animation, about half of the tips he gave is now obsolete.

If you quit the online match to Resistance 2's main menu would you still get the XP you made on that match added to your leveling?

I didn't see that this needed a new topic created on it and I don't know if that has already been posted, but for maximum use of the Bellock aim at the feet of the person you are firing at.

Thank you so much for this topic!
I only just started playing online recently and I'm still learning the ropes. I think my biggest problem was the radar, I had no idea what caused you to show up on it. Now I know to stop sprinting around like an idiot.

not much but: a little jump can make a grenade a that much further and net you a kill.

i might write a more in-depth auger guide and something for the shotgun if people don't mind.

No, feel free to go ahead! Those weapons are very much lacking in tips. And that's what this sticky is all about, giving competitive gaming tips.

Fox- just wanted to give you props on putting this tips list together. It's already improved my game a lot. Thanks much to you, and to BloodyRaw, Bigwolf, Razgriz... - everyone who put their thoughts out there so we could all get better.

@miharbi
Really? I'm new at competitive and I tried playing some Skirmish earlier. Simply put, I got crap for kills and crap for exp. Both games I played I got less than 4000xp. Kills seemed no easier and because there were fewer enemies, I left skirmish very disappointed.
Now I can't even find a game because Play doesn't work.

A few tips for the Auger:
From the fact I tend to use the Auger (marksman too, but areas like Spire needs a long range weapon) in team-type matches as well as co-op, I thought I'd try putting down a few tips to help
The Auger user has three advantages - that of firing through walls (and multiple people on occasion) as well as being able to see nearby opponents and deploying shields which help mitigate damage - But with these three adavantages come some disadvantages - Clip size (20 shots per clip), lowish damage (unless firing through cover) and damingly, the shots are 'telegraphed' by the visuals and noise - let alone their slow speed
However the three advantages more than make up for this in team play, allowing you to gave a 'heads up' to your squad, drop shields to cover them and of course a unique form of firepower - To maximise the use of the Auger, try these tips:
1. Study the maps, find the bottlenecks - ie, the places you know will be clogged with players - then instead of heading into the fray, find a wall or similar to fire through - you can rack up a good deal of kills that way (until the enemy realises and you find seven hedgehogs lobbed your way..ouch!)
2. Use the shield - the shield may weaken your shots slightly, but in one-on-one situations, use the shields - they might not last long but they limit the damage given by the enemy weapons and could give you a slight advantage - not much, but it helps
3. Team shielding - in team matches it might not help you but dropping a shield to cover a teamate is a valuable idea - in Skirmish using the shields to cover the VIP is a useful option and also as you're covvering your temates, the chances are you could mop up the enemies still standing that they've damaged
4. Creative Thermo-vision use - See the L1 button? Use it! - it costs nothing so keep flicking it up every so often - you'd be surprised how you can sometimes find entire enemy groups prowling about, just coming round a corner...
5. In a good squad, play lookout - again a thankless task but when in a squad if I see an enemy group that is doing a pincer I will try to indicate to others what is happening, firing through the wall - if it looks like the shot is on the same level you are, it might be a very good idea to notice what the auger guy(or girl) is doing and give them a hand!
6. Auger users with voice - Tell your team what is coming!
7. Expect in a one-on-one battle you'll most likely die unless you find cover - doubly more so if you get attacked en masse - so try to maintain some awareness of the area you are travelling and seek cover the second you see a sign on the radar in your proximity
8. A sniper can't shoot through walls and floors - so use that fact, using floor or walls (or in Chicagos case, the bombed out buildings interior which overlooks the construction yard and is the usual sniper nest) to take 'em out...and not for dinner :3
9. Speaking of snipers - if you see an enemy moving, chances are you'll miss them (unless at extreme close range) so go for the ones standing still - chances are they are in aiming mode, slowing their movement - and sometimes thats all you need if you have five rounds already pointed at them..

It's been so long since I played R2 I forgot I had this sticky here. >.<
It's nice to see people still getting use out of this FAQ, although I have no idea if these Tips are outdated now. I like Mimetic_soup tips for the auger. i hope to see more tips like that in this board.
I don't see anyone I really recognized on this board anymore, so I'll just drift back into obscurity.
