A must-play for RE fans, but not anyone else.

First of all, I'm a huge Resident Evil fan. I've been there from the beginning. However, I'm not a fan of the Wii, even though I own one. It really is astonishing to me that a system that is so inferior graphically to the 360 or PS3, as well as a gimmicky play mechanic, has been this successful. Nonetheless, I recently broke down and bought RE: the Umbrella Chronicles.
The good news first. If you love RE like I do, this is a godsend. The game allows you to relive all of the key moments in Resident Evil 0, 1, and 3, as well as play through brand new scenarios, with characters like Wesker and Rebecca. Walking though the original mansion recreated and shooting down zombies is awesome! Boss fights are incredible, and the length of the game will have you playing for quite some time. Also, there are hidden memos to find that further give the whole Resident Evil saga new insight. Again, very awesome!
Now, here's the bad news. Trying to shoot with the Wii controller precisely is nearly impossible. The targeting reticle never goes exactly where you want it to. And when the game is asking you to react quickly all the time, that's a major problem. I also don't like the fact that you have to get a high grade on a certain stage to unlock another stage. I had a hard time just beating the stage sometimes, and yet I have to basically master it in order to unlock everything!
Not cool.
Graphically...well, what do you expect from the Wii. This looks like a PS2 game. The cinamatic scenes are nicely done, and the in game graphics aren't terrible...but when you are used to playing hd games on the xbox 360, it's hard to appreciate anything the Wii has to offer. Oh, the music sucks for the most part, too!
But the bottom line is if you are a RE fan, this is a must play despite it's problems. I love it for that reason. But if you are just looking for a gun shooter, there are better ones out there.
