every body haves there own grade. for me 8/10 is fine. for gamespot 6.5/10 , thats there grade for this game. an for all the ppl that havent played the game, why talk???

the score is rather generous, the game would be great, if it was released more than 10 years ago, maybe right after RE3.
the game is alright, but it feels so freaking archaic in therms of gameplay mechanics, I mean u open a door and the character automatically enters the room? I mean WTH???
let say u find a monster inside, u shoot at it a couple of times before realizing you have to make some space to avoid getting killed, u try leaving the room and waiting outside and one can only imagine the monster will come after you, right?? nope! what ever threat u find in the room stays in the room, never mind that it might be standing right next to you when the "entering room" animation is over.
what happened to all the great gameplay we had in RE4 (yeah sure RE5 if u liked that one) hmm? rather than playing this, u r better off revisiting the classics, a lot cheaper than this.
1 Like To be honest I liked REORS, and I have played every single resident evil and beat them. Sad to say I haven't even played 6 and I wont play this. Honestly How do you make a master piece like 4, then turn into this. Even 5 was rad. Please just stop making resident evil. I don't want my amazing memories of this game to get tainted by this shit......
I just finished the game. This is a fairly accurate review. Glad I got to play it because I don't have a 3DS, but it doesn't quite feel up to console standards. Still, I enjoyed experiencing a glimmer of past RE greatness. Flushed out some of the bad taste of RE6.
I found this game pretty poor to be honest.
Rent this while you can as you wont be able to on next-gen....

This game is great, and I'm pretty sure 'Backtracking' was part of the 3DS version, which got an 8.5. They picked the wrong reviewer to review this one in my opinion. Not at all implying that she is a bad reviewer. The RE franchise just might not be part of her past.
@MikEyNyHc It got an 8.5 on 3DS because it's a good game for that platform. However, it's not a great game for a console that is capable of much more. Games are scored according to the platform they're on and what games are capable of on that platform.
I recently played RE6 and then the demo of this game. Imo, RE6 got short-changed because it really is a good game even though there are sections that suck in it. But the demo of this game was boring, looks like shit for a console, and all the creatures are pretty much the same. Even the controls feel dated. You can easily tell it was made for the 3DS.
I'm interested in it, as i loved the original re's, didn't play 6 tho just looked bad, so does this.. but in a different, b-movie nostalgic way. guess I'll wait for a steam sale.

Its kinda dumb it gets worse score than 3ds version. Its basically the same but with even more content.

1 Like CRAPPPPPPPPPPP, Why can' t something like resident evil 3 Nemisis come back? The RE6 currently is aimed at The Japs too much. Develop the story don't just throw it down our throats.
1 Like The reason why RE is not as scary as RE Nemesis is that A LOT of horror games had already been produced up to date so having played a lot of this games we are not as thrilled as when we played the Nemesis. I still remember when I played Nemesis there were only about 1 or 2 other horror games, now you can't count them with your fingers anymore.
hmm there weren't any real reasons it did worse than the 3DS version.... or did I miss something? Owell I don't really fallow the RE series... I don't mind watching people play but I'm just not into the style of gameplay... I like to feel more flexible with my movement.... those monsters didn't seem bad to me though... hmm is everyone unimpressed with them? They seemed creative enough to me

1 Like I respect the views of this review, but in all I still see it as a handheld game ported to home consoles. Great game in my opinion, if just over priced for its content :)
2 Like This game is fun, I dunno what they're talkin about in the review! I've jumped a couple times, maybe cause I get too into it or something, but I do feel anxious and creeped out when I play it. I think it is one of the better Res Evils....
2 Like They need to reboot the series and start the story from scratch. What was once an interesting story with a B-movie feel to it has devolved into complete absurdity. Get some writers that are actually DECENT, pen a great, scary story, and reboot the franchise anew with new characters, new gameplay, and a new plot.........

3 Like @Simulator_Shock Graphics generally only get noticed if they are so bad they detract from the experience, or so good that they add to it. Many games have passable graphics that don't factor in very much.
3 Like I think that Capcom isn't paying Gamespot enough money. Cause this review just as all the other Resident Evil' reviews is of shit quality. Come on Resident Evil 6 is essentialy a good game just as Revelations. Oh, they aren't scary? Please tell me which RE is scary now ? Most games can be scary for 8 year olds.
3 Like @KapitanKrzepa I think it's namely because Resident Evil was always a real standard for quality in the gaming industry. So naturally and yet unfairly critics and many gamers have unrealistic standards.
Coming from someone who actually likes 5, 6, and Revelations these games are truthfully hardly the next big leap in the series evolution.
4 was basically 'the game' when it was released. Not to mention all the games before (not counting spin-offs) are simply epic horror games. Many still worth playing even today.
I really do think the series is still pretty decent, but hardly the top of its game. & the scares are definitely lacking.

3 Like awful resident evil dont buy it, i dont get excitement about this game, this is another resident evil 5 with awful story! We want zombies, good story, scary and with puzzles! CAPCOM! MAKE REAL RESIDENT EVIL AGAIN! In the last 5 years 4 awful games omgggggg!

With that note you got zombies in 6 and that game was absolutely hammered critically. Though a return of scares and puzzles would be nice however and something I agree on.
For the record however Revelations is very enjoyable, you just need to chill :P
2 Like @WillyWynn It's not an awful game but I do agree that it still leaves a lot to be desired...I just wish Capcom would pull their heads out of their asses and stop making RE games with dollar signs in their eyes...because they think that's the only way an RE game will sell in this day and age is by turning RE into an over-the-top action-shooter with quick-time-events every 5 seconds.
3 Like Not scary? Hnnn... may be it's just me being easily frightened but I think the whole Chapter 4 with Rachael is pretty damn scary (at least it's like 100x more scary than RE6 LOL).. I am loving this game so far and it really reminded me of what the old RE games were like esp with all those backtracking and being able to control the pace of the game yourself. Another thing I like is that it is not constantly guiding you like RE5 and 6 that make you go do this before doing that, I walked into the chapter 3 boss fight without picking up the shot gun and rifle and got raped but that's the fun part about these survival horror games! Good job Capcom on this game and hopefully RE 7 will be somewhat similar to this!

2 Like @focuspuller I agree... Even in videos I have watched she is not great... I don't get excited like I do with other reviewers. She makes some good points, but I believe that there is somebody better out there in the industry...

6 Like All you people complaining about the graphics do realize the game is a port from the 3ds and ports from handhelds rarely look good.
@focuspuller @StarKiller2127 True. Especially considering its original art and graphics are ported from a microscopic MOBILE device, it's already a feat in and of itself.
