Rocket launcher won't fire at Malacoda

I've been through the minigun part of this battle at least 3 times now. That part is easy, but every time it gets to the part where you fire the rocket launcher in it's mouth I get the lockon with the arrow at the top but the rocket launcher won't fire and the chopper gets wiped out by the tentacles in it's mouth. What do I have to do to make it fire? I DO shoot the tantacles in it's mouth as much as I can before getting the rocket launcher and seem to have enough time to fire before they reappear, but the damn thing just won't fire.

    Double Bump

I don't like being ignored. Surely someone can at least tell me if it's supposed to fire after locking on by just holding LMB?

I just saw your thread. When the pilot hands you the rocket launcher just keep your aiming recticle in the blue box surrounding the creature's mouth and hold down x(ps3 controls). The rocket should fire automatically once the lock-on is complete, probably within two seconds of holding down x.

That's pretty much what I'm doing, although on PC, but when the lockon is complete and the arrow appears on top of the rocket launcher, it won't fire. Is it supposed to fire as soon as that lockon arrow shows?

I just replayed that part. Aim the rocket launcher at its mouth and hold down the button displayed on the bottom of the screen until it says locked on, then release the button and press it again. That should do it.

Finally got through it. I noticed the tiny prompt you mentioned before checking back here. Actually it locks on by just holding LMB, and all you need do after the lockon arrow appears is tap F and it fires.

The game kinda sucks IMO. I'm at the ballroom blitz bossfight now. LOL

Yeah that fight's a pain. All you can do is anticipate his attacks and shoot him in the heart. Towards the end of the fight he'll start dropping to his knees. When he does this unload into the brainy area on his back. It does more damage than hitting his heart.

Well I already beat him earlier today whilst waiting to hear from the garage about getting my truck fixed. All I did was let him wind up, duck under his attack with W, then shoot the nasty growth on his back. Once in a while I shot his heart when it pops out, but I prefer to just dodge and save my ammo for his back. It's safer that way too because if you shoot too many times at his heart he'll grab attack you when he gets close.

The only real annoying bit was the doppleganger part where you have to figure out which one he actually is, but I soon discovered it's just the one who's heart pops out first. I also got in a couple charged kicks, but I'm not sure they did much ggod. I knew when the growth on his back started turning red he was about done, and sure enough next round of shotgun blasts took him out.

RE4 is the only good title of the latter games they've made IMO. It just has way better level design and enemies, and the creepy ambient sounds are great. Thanks for offering help btw, I was getting tired of bumping the thread.
