I want a serious opinion on how this stacks up next to RE4...

If you liked RE6, please don't even post what you think! That game is BAD BAD BAD! Now...I beat RE4 plenty of times, which was great. Is this game more along the lines of RE4, RE5, or dare I say it...RESIDENT EVIL 6?!
I really wanted to play this game when it was on 3DS, but wasn't going to buy the system just for one game. Plus, I hate small screens...Also, is this a PSN release or is it a physical disc?

I'll cut you off and say your opinion of RE 6 is your opinion, but it isn't performance wise as good as 5 yes, but still could be good to others. Anyway It brings back a feel of the classics, with the graphics of 4 and the controls of Mercs 3DS, thus walk and shoot controls.
With this version it looks to be taking a graphical upgrade to a more RE 5 scale and keeping it's controls i am sure. So you can take it from there. It's got a decent musical score and a more darker atmosphere compared to 4, not an action filled game(with the exception of one chapter sequence) and has ammo management and a fun raid mode. But it's up to you your opening post left a bad impression to help give advice to.

You should go revisit RE6, its a solid.
It is getting both a physical release and a PSN (digital) release. You can pre-order a copy now at Amazon if you prefer a retail release.

I loved this game a lot more than RE4, honestly. Not to say it was bad but definitely not my favorite Resident Evil game. I think someone who was a fan of RE4 would definitely find Revelations to be up that ally. Of course it also does a lot of things that bring you back to the classic Resident Evil games along with adding new features like the Genesis Scanner and the ability to move and shoot/reload. It depends on you really but I think you'll feel at home.

It's like RE4... on a boat.
It's better than 5 and 6, but those classic RE elements just seem so dated in REV. Backtracking dozens of rooms just for a few fetch quests and scanning for ammo is just such artificial difficulty. But the characters are a million times better than 5 and 6 and the setting is really nice.
And no QTE's, so that's a big plus.

Trust me, Revelations is amazing, and for the record I HATED Resident Evil 6. First time I ever wanted to stop playing a main Resident Evil game before beating it, ever.
I think I actually enjoyed Revelations more than I enjoyed 4 even. And you'll probably love raid mode. I was skeptical at first cause I'm not a fan of side games like mercenaries but raid mode is so addicting.

Someone hasn't played them, and lol at them being overrated, this is the first I've seen someone call them overrated.
Let me ask you something, did you start getting into the RE franchise with RE4/5 or 6? If the answer is yes than you have no place saying 1 2 and 3 are garbage if you haven't played them.
