PLAY ONLINE w/HDD ONLY and THIS GAME ROCKS!! Jeez.... I can't believe these scores everywhere... You must only play this ONLINE. People are looking at the single play experience like it's 50-75% of the game... it's not, it's like 5-10%... it's just a way for Capcom to sell copies to ps2 owners who arn't online. This is an ONLINE GAME ONLY!! If you are not planning on going online, don't buy this game. Rent it, or wait a year for the price to go down to $20. The game is just about unplayable without the ps2 HDD Hard Drive. So make sure you pick one up. If/when you do, you'll find an extremely pleasing Survival Horror experience that is INCOMPARABLE !! amd AWESOME! Magazine reviewers played the game before consumers in the U.S. were online... Meaning they really weren't reviewing the game (properly) and playing online with the japanese version... unless your a japanese magazine reviewer does not count. This game's got way higher scores from Japan Magazine Reviews. Let me address the following critisms... 1>Load time... (get a HDD, it's so fast it's not an issue). It's more of a ps2 memory problem, that and the use of hi-res textures. That's why RE on the gamecube wasn't a prob... look at ign's head-2-heads... ps2 load time is always 2x long as GC. Get a HDD. People go on murder-mystery cruises that cost a lot more than the price of an HDD. The experience is worth it. 2>Communication... Work more than well enough. People online were able to guide me, help me get weapons, help me out when my health was running low etc... As to the "no point to play online or with other people" HA! There's no way you can pass the levels if you go running off on your own. AND.. if you do, other players will soon start calling out your name... cuz they need you to make it out alive... SO COOL!!! The only time I ran into an issue was when I player as a character who had a lockpick, one of my teammates led me to a lock, I hadn't read the manual, and didn't know how to operate it. My teammate had no way to tell me how. How cares? So I missed out on getting a shotgun for myself, big woop. Headsets would be annoying... and they WOULD mess up part of the horror/scare/co-op experience... just what I need chatty-ness in RE. 3> Character walking though characters. Well duh, what you want to bump into them? ...and then have to walk around them... 4> Walking through a door, and walking right through a zombie. Well duh, would you rather him hit you. It's a gameplay grace thing, I'm sure in playtesting, Capcom decided to add this FEATURE 5> Single player not fun/I passed it in 2 hours... REO... REO... RE Online... Resident Evil ONLINE... so sorry, yeah this was never meant to be single player. DUH. Get a Network adapter, go to best buy and get a 50ft ethernet cable. It's WORTH IT. 6> Inter-team Communication Text doesn't match Inter-tram Communication voice dialogue. I agree, minor annoyance, yet I agree, should be the same... bettwe yet, ability to optiionally turn off the text, or turn off the communication audio.
