Four campaigns - Four different experiences. Overall, Resident Evil 6 is not a bad game as many people claim.

User Rating: 8 | Resident Evil 6 PS3
Although Resident Evil 6 is hardly a horror, it is not a bad game overall. I am a huge Resident Evil fan. I beat every title and I was really hoping that Capcom will return to the origin with the sixth Resident Evil. Instead they made another more action oriented title. I was very angry because I wanted an old-school Resident Evil with many scary elements and less action. But surprisingly, Resident Evil 6 is actually a really good game despite its flaws.

We actually have got four and not three campaigns and each campaign brings different experience. Chris Redfield story has the biggest amount of action and shooting, Leon and Helena have more scary moments in their campaign and they also fight with zombies. Jake and Sherry have something in between - a little bit of action and horror. Ada Wong's campaign is rather focused on stealth and exploring, but there are some shooting and quick time events as well. Moreover, if we want to play as Ada, then we need to beat previous campaigns. I beat the whole game and I have to say that I am very positively surprised. As I said, Resident Evil 6 is more an action adventure-third person shooter rather than a survival horror, but despite this fact, it is not a bad game as many reviewers are saying. I must say that in general, it is a good installment with solid gameplay experience. Three campaigns, good overall storyline, the opportunity to ride a car and fly an airplane, nice arsenal of guns. I think that we should focus on the advantages of this title rather than on its flaws. Of course, if someone expects Resident Evil 6 to be a typical survival horror with an old-school gameplay experience that he/she won't find it here. The sixth installment is more an action game as I wrote before. But when stop comparing the game with its previous titles, then we may find that Resident Evil 6 is actually a good game. Gamespot's score is definitely unfair in my opinion. There are many games which are much worse that RE6 although they have better scores. Again, this is really unfair. At the beginning I was a huge enemy of Capcom's new installment, but then my friend bought the game and said that its pretty good. I was very skeptical about it, but I said why not, I will give this title a try. Here I am and to be honest RE6 is a title with solid gameplay and interesting plot with great characters. The graphics are really well done, the soundtracks is good enough. Yes, there are some elements in this game which can make you frustrated. For example, way too many shooting elements and many quick time events. Sometimes too many. Also the cutscenes are really spectacular and dynamic. What is more, I don't like the idea that the action takes place 14 and 15 years after the Raccoon City incident. This is a huge time gap and I wonder what will Capcom do when RE characters will get too old to take part in the next installment. It will surely be a very hard task for them to create new protagonists who will be as popular as Chris or Leon for example.

RE6 is a different game than its predecessors that is no doubt, but definitely, it is not a bad title. But still, every Resident Evil fan should give it a try and beat it. I like the old-school Resident Evil games much more and yes, they are much better, but despite everything, RE6 is not a bad game, it isn't better than Resident Evil 1 for instance, but overall it is pretty good. Solid good. Four campaigns can really bring some great experience. Resident Evil 6 is better than Resident Evil 5 in my opinion, that is why I have to give this title 8 out of 10 despite its flaws.

The good: main characters, interesting story, ability to ride a vehicle and fly an airplane, some nice gameplay elements.
The bad: Too many action and shooting, to few scary moments, huge time gap between RE6 and its predecessors.

Gameplay: 8/10
