Resident Evil5 isn't a game for everyone, but those who'll be willing to use more brains than muscle will be pleased.

If you've been in the gaming industry in the past ten years, then most chances are that you've heard of RE5. Despite its departure from the overwhelming zombie hordes and creepy scenaries, the game still elevate the bar in terms of quality of a video game.

The graphics of this game are one of the best on any consoles, simply because of the insane ammount of details, believable character animations and superb presentation. You'll see the fiber on Chris'shirt up to every grip-line on the handle of the shotgun.

The sound design is superb, using clever mix of cultural african beats and songs. The voice acting, if cheesy, is well-done too. Every weapon packs a solid punch and sounds like it should.

The gameplay is top notch. And really, those who complains about the controls are seriously hand crippled or are just a form of '' lesser human beings '' and thats it. The way you'll manoeuver your character to aim precise shots and combine them with melee actions gives this game a very unique flavor, that hasnt really been touched by any other games ( other than its famed predecessor ). The game is reasonably lenghty to beat ( about nine to eleven hours ) and has loads of reason to replay it.

Look, I eat games like chips and then toss them away once i'm done with my first playthrough. Seriously, i've never, EVER, spent more than fifty hours on any games out there, except MMO's. And i've played SIXTY-TWO hours in RE5. It has THAT much to offer. The Co-op, while not necessary, was a wonderful additiom.

The game also features the Mercenaries mode, wich is at first very stressful, because it makes you feel like you felt in the first RE's : completely overwhelmed. After a while, you'll get used to it and it'll get even better. You'll farm the levels like a god, and you can do that with your friends in co-op. I've spent like twenty hours on this mode alone. That's more than three short games combined together for me.

The story is super cliché, yet it doesnt really matter. I've yet to see any good storylines in video games up to now ( except Bioshock, wich was simple, yet clever ). This industry doesnt hire writers often enough, so i'm used to mediocre storytelling in that media. And for a mediocre story, its okay.

All and all, RE5 is one of the only game that i've kept for more than two months. The other ones were God of War 2 and Assassin's Creed. After seeing RE5 in action, it's easy to be turned off by the graphical aspect of some games on the market these days. For me, this game is easily recommendable, and makes a perfect purchase for any action or survival horrir aficionado.
