Resident evil 5 is very very very good I've played it and wow impressive the background, character, environment too beautiful this game will be hits of the year i'm a real gamer and i know regonized a good game that's it. Capcom is the best in survival horror game.
We take to the enemy-infested waterways in a new area of Capcom's upcoming Resident Evil 5.
With Resident Evil 5 approaching its March 13 release, Capcom teased a little more of the game in its CES suite with a brief playable demo set in a previously unseen locale. The new section focused on main characters Chris Redfield and Sheva Alomar making their way upriver by boat. Although the notion of a boat trip with a lady friend might sound like a fairly mellow experience, this is Resident Evil we're talking about. So, Chris' "quality time" with Sheva featured explosions, dozens of murderous infected, and flying enemies eager to rip off Chris' head. The short demo pleased the masochist in us with its relentless enemies and left us hungry to tear into more of the game.
The demo starts with the pair still traveling with Josh, who we were introduced to in our last hands-on. The trio appears to still be on the hunt for the mysterious Irving, which leads them to take to a boat. The level kicks off with a forced scrolling segment that has Josh taking the wheel of the boat and starting the ride up the river. The trip gets eventful as mobs of enemies start taking shots at the boat. Fortunately there's an inordinate amount of explosive barrels and tanks lying around, so it's just a matter of careful aiming. Though this sequence was fun, we're a little anxious to see how it plays out in the final game, given that the demo afforded us unlimited ammo. We reckon that things will be a lot tenser if you have to be frugal with your bullets. The boat ride also features a number of context-sensitive moments during which you'll need to hit a button and duck to avoid slamming into low-hanging structures. Although you have some measure of free movement on the boat, there's no avoiding the obstacles without hitting the button.
The boat ride comes to an abrupt halt when you reach a gate blocking your path. Josh docks the boat and you'll have to disembark. You and Sheva will make your way to separate switches, which, surprise, have to be triggered in tandem. The short run to the switches is complicated by a mob of enemies, including those flying creatures that we've seen in other demos. To make matters even more fun, there's a majini manning a turret whose arc of fire can rain bullets on you or Sheva. Thankfully, with some good coordination--and by that we mean letting the bad guy focus on Sheva while you line Chris up for a shot--he can be taken out. The demo faded out once we triggered the switches and reboarded the boat.
From all we've seen, Resident Evil 5 appears to be covering all of the expected bases and throwing in a few cool, but admittedly fatal, surprises to the RE formula. Fans of the series will be pleased by what's coming. Resident Evil 5 is currently slated to launch on March 13, so look for more on the game shortly.
i cant believe how many bad comments have been made about this game as i have downloaded the 360 demo and i think it is amazing so what if its similar to re4 because that was an amazing game i personally hope the demo is a good representation of the rest of the game as i love it especially on co-op mode.
this game is the best in the whole entire world because it has 2 player and good graphics and it scares the living **** out of u
this games gonna suck capcom straying off the beaten path means doom for survival horror. it looks more like an action adventure game then anything else
by the way one thing i loved about the resident evil games were the gore filled deaths you encountered in them from part 4.... now the demo from 5 i hope isnt like that in the finished version..... because i missed seen my head actually fall off!!! come one i know there has to be more people who enjoy watching the character die in a awesome bloodfilled slaughter of entertainment.... and i for one am one of them :D
honestly i dont call myself a resident evil fanatic who thinks he has the right to say much since my first game was actuallyre4 but i loved this game it made me want to play the others and i liked them to even if they werent like it and were more difficult for me but this is to say resident evil 5 looks great i like its new features and yes its kind of like 4 but honestly why kill something almost perfect and say they should add even more to it because 4 was great and 5 can be better even if they are alike in those styles of gameplay so i for one enjoy that it seems like re4 in so many ways...
I'm sorry to say, but the from the demo the gameplay mechanics re god awful. I've had no fun playing this game, and really I don't understand why anyone would
I am seriously considering buying a X360 to simply and only get the demo of this game. I always knew it would be the reason why I got something other then a Wii.
so i got the demo off of xbox live...and wow i hate to say it but its a copy of re4 with better graphics and a different country wtf...couldn't they have changed it up a little...like ya i loved re4 but i dont want to play it again you know what i mean....i just hope the demo isnt a great representation of what the whole game has to offer
some people say that don´t like the new story of RE, but if you think a little, racoon city and umbrella were terminated, now wesker its trying to bring umbrella back but no with zombies, he is trying to create a strong corporation than the last one, starting to steel the new type of virus Las Plagas...Capcom is makin everything good, i think they´re thinkin pretty well the new RE story line.
A demo is being released on PS network Feb. 2nd and it should tells as more about the graphics and controls system.
Cidious84 "I am curious about the sudden appearance of Albert Wesker. He's been M.I.A. since tha 1st RE game (not including the special character choice from RE 4 even tho the suppressed pistol he had could pop heads in 1 hit ). Something about those red eyes just draws me in......." You are mistaken. Wesker does battle with Chris in Code Veronica. Wesker even comments to that fact in one of the RE5 videos...
Sadly, I believe the new direction could kill RE franchise rather then breath life into it. I have played the demo over 20 times now, and while it's fun; I might as well be playing RE4. Shiva in single player is brain dead. RE5 already gives me the impression it forgot the fear factor once more, and without it should not bare the title. RE5 maybe the last RE game I buy. I just don't like its new direction...

This my favorite franchise game and i hope the RE universe never ends but if it does they should bring all the main characters together from all the past RE games (Leon S. Kennedy is my personal favorite) and keep the new co-op feature.
The_Youngster I also thought that Shiva would end up being an annoyance (I agree that the two character system could slow the game down at some points in Zero), but after playing the demo co-op I found that the co-op system works extremely well. It really puts alot of pressure on both partners instead of allowing for just one person to carry the team (ex. Halo and Halo3). Instead of being annoying I found that it worked to really intensify the gameplay. As for the control system, it does feel somewhat out of date. However, when the Wii version of RE4 came out I thought it was far too easy. The claustrophobic controls almost add to the gameplay in my opinion. Of course it would be nice to see a more realistic approach to get the same feeling (harder/faster enemies with more intuitive controls), but with RE4's success I guess there wasn't too much incentive to change things up.
I?ve always loved Resident evil games. I?ve played and completed every resident evil game and, personally overall, in terms of tension story and action, I don?t think they've ever topped Code Veronica on the Dreamcast. My problem with this one is that it doesn?t appear to have changed enough from (admittedly excellent) Res 4, and the second character following you around seems like an unnecessary encumbrance as opposed to a valid game play enhancing mechanic. Resident Evil Zero had something similar and that was just tiresome. The graphics for Res 5 are stunning and the game play seems good, just uninspired. Given that adrenaline pumping Zombie games like Left 4 Dead are around, it makes me worry that Resident Evil has really fallen off the pace. That said I haven?t played it co op yet, and perhaps if/when I play the full game I?ll feel different, but just now I?m just not sure.
I want to keen on the demo didnt really feel like a rsident evil game I mean the graphics are nice but theyve made it like gears of war! whats all that about i preffered the earlier resident evils! just my opinion anyway! is this the only game coming out for 360 this year?
Well, am playing the demo and from what i've played soo far doesnt seem scary to me, infact rez4 wasn't scary at all, but it was fun to play though, and rez5 is no exception feels like rez4 but much, harder. Not harder as in game difficulty but harder as in mad zombies storming u at once, i feel overwhelm at times its nuts.
twallace27 shut the f**k up like u could do better u dont no what ur talkin a bout res is the best game and its only gettin better so f**k off and go back to ur s**t ass games
Doesn't anybody else miss the old RE games? All I hear is how great and innovative the 4th game was. I liked it as an independent action game maybe, something separate and unique from the Resident Evil series, because it does NOT carry on the tradition that is Resident Evil. Running around not knowing what is lurking behind the shadows, eerie camera angles, a creepy environment made for explorations, and a cool mix of puzzles and keys to temporarily halt your progress and make you scratch your head a moment. Sure, you can now aim anywhere on the screen, (not just up, down, or centered) but the character also takes up half the screen and it takes forever just to pan left and right to take out enemies, meanwhile you're being attacked from behind. It's not groundbreaking, it's not innovative, it doesn't make the action more intense--and it's kind of annoying. And now they have the same exact formula and everybody is, again, satisfied. Now don't get me wrong. I DID enjoy Resident Evil 4. It wasn't a great game, considering the many flaws it has, including the stiff controls, but it was good--I enjoyed it. I just think think it should be called something different. Of course if Capcom would have done that, they would lose their loyal fan base. But that's my opinion. Does anyone else feel the same or am I on a deserted island?
omg im pissing my self right now .... my brother is playing the 4 one right now and is really looking foward to the 5 one but i think that i want it more.
this game is going to be amazing, I've been playing the xbox demo and it looks crazy, the final game is going to look so much better and even more in the PS3, only 2 more months right... durriiiiiiisssssimo
After playing the JAP demo the only thing that is below par is the controls...They feel stuck in RE4 which isn't bad...for years back...Now the rotating-on-the-spot firing mechanics feel dated...Funny how not many reporters pick up on that... Graphics are slick, framerate is smooth, enemys well modeled...But everything is RE4 including the "Magical-enemys-that-drop-gold-which-you-use-to-buy-weapons-from-that dude-in-a-cloak-who-has-a-suprising-amount-of-hardware-hanging-from-his-coat"
"one of the best ones was nemasis because you had this thing of pure ass kicking following you slowly and you had to run for your life in a state of fear all the way through. if only they went back to that sort of RE game." I wholeheartedly agree, that was one hella intensive experience.
This game is gonna be so awsome! I can't wait until it comes out. Gamespot thanks for going all out to get this info for us!

People are really underestimating the concept of an "old" zombie. To some it's just a lumbering log to shoot. However with the technology of today you could create truly gruesome scenes of how people died, then attacked their relatives and so on. You could have all that detail in there. Besides to me zombies are scarry because they only have one simple instinct and that is to eat. It won't try to talk to you, to jump on you, to attack you with a chainsaw it'll just tear your flesh from bone bit by bit while you're still alive. And I like em much more when their dead (to me it's scarrier). If you think that this kind of zombie is to easy, try taking on a thousand of them when they're everywhere. Also you have to use alot of bullets to kill one unless you can headshot it. to me horror > action and RE should stay horror. The characters should be simple people not james bond like agent Leon and agent Chris. If Capcom wanted to make a similar action game in RE4, they could've simply used a different name for the game and then it would've been ok.
