Resident Evil 5: Lost in Nightmares User Review
- Difficulty:
- Just Right
- Time Spent:
- 10 Hours or Less
- The Bottom Line:
- "Too short"
30 minutes. Maybe less, actually. That's probably about how long it will take you to complete the lone mission in Lost in Nightmares.
What was a simple flashback in RE5 is now a playable mission, and wow is it a short one. For 400 MS points, you can team up with your old friend Jill, and make your way through the Spencer Mansion in hopes of taking down series villain Albert Wesker.
Now, everything that made RE5 enjoyable is still in place, and that's great. Unlike RE5, though, Lost in Nightmares actually manages to give off a somewhat creepy feel. As you progress down dimly lit corridors, you really get a sense of tension. This of course, will be gone on subsequent playthroughs, but still... it's nice to see something that's actually a bit creepy, especially when you consider that RE5 wasn't even remotely scary.
A few new Mercenaries characters also are a part of this pack, Excella Gionne being one of them. If you've played the Mercenaries in RE5 a lot, though, you probably won't get the same level of enjoyment out of it. Even with some new characters, and melee attacks, you'll most likely just get that "been there, done that" feeling.
There simply just is not enough content here to make Lost in Nightmares a worthy purchase. Even at only 400 points, this 1/2 hour long, 1 mission DLC won't keep you occupied for long. There are 5 new achievements to unlock, though, so that may boost the replay value for some.
Simply put, nothing is wrong with Lost in Nightmares from a technical standpoint, it's just the lack of content that really brings it down. Find something else to spend your Microsoft Points on.

A few new characters for the Mercenaries mode isn't enough to make this DLC worth buying
