Resident Evil 4 is just as exciting as you remember it. Some things have dated, but not enough to ruin the experience.

While slightly dated in regards to Leon's cheesy dialogue and the neglection of the right thumb stick (LET ME STRAFE OH GOD PLEASE) - Resident Evil 4 is still as captivating and exciting as i remember. Not a master of horror like the original, this game marked the point where the series began moving towards the action adventure it is today.... though i must say, when I came upon the zealots behind the castle walls their whispered chants still gave me chills. The controls are slightly awkward, but it adds to the suspense - facing a horde of ambling non-zombies is a lot more intense as a result. But don't mistake "awkward" with "frustrating", once you get the hang of them the controls are responsive and those with great skill can pull off some great moves. Nothing is as satisfying as a well placed shot to the kneecap, followed by a roundhouse kick to the face - sending a swarm of brain-dead suckers to the floor. It could have used an update to its weapon changing system though, as it is currently a bit clunky and breaks up the action. If you could map guns to the D-Pad as is possible in Res 5 this would be a much smoother game. New comers may find it a bit frustrating, but old fans will have a ball.
