A new standard for the Resident Evil Series

I remember playing the original Resident Evil when I came out. Yeah, I'm old. It was the most intense experience I had ever had in a video up to that point. (Also take into account we had no data card, so dying would be the end of the game.) Fast forward...how many years? And this is the next step for the series. The ability to use you Wiimote to point the gun really brings another level of realism to the stand and shoot play mechanics.

The story is convoluted and very strange, but hey, aren't all Resident Evil titles? What the story did provide is the ability to traverse lots of different environments: tunnels, winding staircases, rising elevators, more open environments and even battle scenarios. The game didn't suck me and keep me playing straight through, but I definitely had some fun moments with the title.

There's alot of gameplay here, and even more if you choose to utilize the unlockables, which I didn't. I could definitely recommend the title. It is showing its age graphically, but it still holds up well. I'll never forget that low growl of "Welcome, stranger!"
