The best Resident Evil, period!
And now there is Resident Evil 4. I bought this game together with my Gamecube, so maybe thats why I almost immediately got used to the controls. And its the first Resident Evil that takes place in a fully 3D environment. And maybe the scariest, since this inhabitants of this strange Spanish village are probably even more scarier then a typical zombie. You play as Leon S. Kennedy (From Resident Evil 2), who is searching for the Presidents missing daughter. You'll end up in this strange Spanish village with even stranger inhabitants.
The action takes right off, when you're attacked by a crazy villager with an axe. Resident Evil 4 is a Third-Person Shooter, with an over-the-shoulder camer angle when you aim. You can't strafe, which makes it a little bit more difficult.
One of the best things about the game are the boss fights, which are outstanding. My favourites are the El-Gigantes, because they give a good challenge and they're pretty cool. The scariest moments are probably when you're wandering around. You're always on your toes, since they can come out from anywhere. It helps that the music is so great, it really builds up the tension.
This game really pushes the Gamecube to its max. This game looks pretty next-gen for a now-gen game. And its fully 3D, not pre-rendered, which makes it all the more amazing. The cut-scenes are all with the in-game engine, and they all look amazing. This game really shows what the Gamecube can do.
It has a lot of value. The main campaign takes around 12-16 hours to complete it, and then you still have Mercenaries and Assignment Ada, which are very addictive.
What more is there to say about this game? Its a must-have for every Gamecube-owner, Its a graphical showcase for the Gamecube and the best Resident Evil game. Buy this game. You won't regret it.
