Awesome game! Sets a new standard, and raises the bar really high...

This game is so close to perfect that its few shortcomings almost don't count... Graphics are amazing for PS2, and the gameplay... I'll say that this is more of an action game than typical "survival horror" and as an action game it succeeds in everything it attempts to do. You never feel lost or without hope, and even after the toughest boss battles I thought "I want to do that again!" Some sequences I had to play again because I died -just watching events unfold with my jaw on the floor. There's action, drama, humor, and even a bit of awkward romance. Top-notch production values and attention to detail are evident in every part of the game. It's rated M-17, and rightfully so, but this is a game that is actually better for having language and blood and gore in it.
Those shortcomings? No strafing, and frequent-but-short load times.
Bottom line? Quite simply the best game I have ever played. Ever.
