Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition User Review
Haven't made a mad zombie farmer's head explode yet ? Do so! Its more satisfying than you think.

- Difficulty:
- Just Right
- Time Spent:
- 20 to 40 Hours
- The Bottom Line:
- "Masterpiece"
If I could describe Resident Evil 4 in one word it would be this: 'Running'. Cos thats what you'll be doing for most of the game. Preferably away, wishing you could run away faster than you can run normally. Running can save your life in this game, because this time around they're not shuffling zombies, these things were human and like killing you, violently, with sharp objects , like axes and chainsaws. Oh and did I mention that they run and not walk towards you. So imagine what its like when you are thrown immediately in the deep end and forced to use your wits against a bunch of crazy farmers in an intense village raid. And I must say this frightening first level is probably the most adrenaline pumping scene I have ever experienced.
You assume the role of Leon S Kennedy who is on a secret mission to rescue the president's daughter from an unknown menace in Spain. Soon he discovers that there is more to this menace than he thinks after he is thrown into a mad conspiracy which he must put a stop to. The story takes you through multiple set pieces such as a farmers village to an abandoned mine to a crazy scary castle. The monsters you encounter are a sight to behold. you'll punch the air with delight when you kill them because they didnt disembowel your ass.
If there is one thing you need to confront this menace is guns, lots and lots of guns. you start off with the basics such as a normal handgun but when the story progresses you gain access to greater weapons such as shotguns , snipers and revolvers. all of which are capable of causing some sort of bloody mess. all weapons require upgrading and only one man can do it. the merchant who always asks "what are you buying" is your man. He's a shady character but he's the guy you'll be happy to see who isnt armed with an Axe shouting death threats.
The game itself lasts around 8-10 hours and it sure is a challenging 8-10 hours. but the main adventure isnt just it. after the game you have access to the mercenaries mini game which is a classy shooting spree against the clock
and the 'Separate ways' side missions become available which then add on another 4 or so hours in which you play Ada Wong , which takes you behind the scenes in the story mode.
In regard to the graphics, its gamecube standard, its not much for todays standard , but if you're like me and you dont care then you shouldn't take it into context.
Overall Resi 4 is a stunner to behold. Ive been through it 6 times , and im still not bored of it .

Two years later, Capcom's survival horror sequel still impresses, but is it made better on Wii?
