PLEASE, DO NOT POST UNTIL I ASK YOU TO. THIS IS PRETTY LENGTHY, AND I DON'T WANT INTERRUPTIONS BETWEEN MY MINI-GUIDE POSTS! THANKS...

    =========
    Introduction
    =========

In order to find what you need, look through the table of contents. Then press CTRL+F and enter the number of the question there and press enter twice. You should then go directly to that question. Although with the 100+ questions, you may have to press enter 3 times. =/

This Mini-Guide was intended to help all of the new players to Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition, and help the older players (who experienced GC/PS2/PC versions of the game) who don't feel like constantly answering the same questions over and over again... Believe me, I know how it is.

    Enjoy!

Q02: Is the Wii Edition censored? I heard it was!
    A. In some regions RE4: Wii Edition undoubtedly will be censored. Japan and Germany are two countries that I can think of off the top of my head that have censored past versions of RE4 (so it's not just a Wii version issue -- sorry, Wii-bashers.), so I expect it to be this time around as well. However, the North American version of the game will not be censored. So don't worry about it.

Q03: Oh wow, this box art is the best looking one of them all, isn't it?!
    A. Uh... sure. It's all up to personal preference, and I could give a damn what the box looks like... it's what's inside that counts.

Q04: Are the graphics better in this one?
    A. Not really, it's a direct port.

Q05: Is the game compatible with Gamecube controllers?
    A. Yes, it is.

Q06: Is the game compatible with the Classic Controller?
    A. Yes.

Q07: Does the Wii Edition have real-time cutscenes?
    A. Yes, but if you were waiting to see Leon in his Gangster outfit and Ashley in her Knight costume in the scenes, it won't happen. Only Special Costume Set 1 will show up in the cutscenes...

Q08: Does it have real-time weapon change?
    A. Is this a joke? I think this is a joke. >_______>

However, no. You have to go into your case every time to change your weapon out. It's like that in every version of RE4.

Q09: OMG, diz game is sooo much better than PS2 LOL!
    A. Resident Evil 4 is Resident Evil 4. No matter on what console you play, you'll still be playing a AAA game. Whatever preference you have is your own, but there's no reason to rub it in the faces of people who don't have a Wii.

Q10: Does the TMP Shortcut/Ditman/Fence Glitch/etc. work in this version?
    A. Alright, to clarify, I'm just going to list some useful glitches and how to do them:

Ditman Glitch ~ Commonly referred to as the Striker Glitch, certainly works on the Wii Edition. For those that don't know how to do the actual glitch, though, here are the steps:

    1. Equip the Striker.
    2. Hold B to aim.
    3. Before Leon finishes the aiming animation, go into the Item Menu.
    4. Switch to a different weapon.

Once that is done, all of Leon's animations (with a few exceptions) will be 1.5x faster. If you can't get the glitch to work, then check out this YouTube video and emulate it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cmXIdFCg5BQ

Keep in mind that there are plenty of things that negate the Ditman Glitch effects. Here is a list of them:

    1. Many A-button commands.
    2. Aiming with Shotgun/Riot Gun/Striker.
    3. Leon covering his face from explosion.
    4. Healing.
    5. Getting hurt.
    6. Cutscene/Radio

Hover Glitch ~ Used in the Merchant Lake Cave after beating Del Lago. It lets you run through the cave walls and into endless space. The same miscellaneous items found in the Village area when using the Fence Glitch can be found here as well. That includes: Herb, TMP ammo, Shotgun ammo, and Mine Thrower ammo. To do the glitch, follow these steps:

NOTE: You'll need to know how to do the Ditman Glitch otherwise this glitch won't work.

    1. Turn left, push the crate, turn right, climb up the ladder.
    2. Turn around.
    3. Activate Ditman Glitch.
    4. Jump down ladder.

You'll then be hovering over the ground and free to walk through the walls.

Fence Glitch ~ Probably the most well known glitch in RE4. The fence in question is the one in the farm area in the Village where you first see the Blue Medallions in the game. For a video of the Fence Glitch, check here:

    http://youtube.com/watch?v=aP3IbKl25u0

Unlike the NTSC GC version of RE4, you cannot do the glitch at anytime -- it can only be done at night (like the PS2 version) when you are on your way back through the farm with Ashley. To do the glitch:

    1. Walk next to the fence and press A. (If you didn't make it up the small hill like in the video, try again. It may take a few tries.)
    2. Explore the area to find some hidden items.

TMP Shortcut Glitch ~ There's not really a point in listing it here, because the glitch has been fixed in the Wii Edition of RE4.

El Gigante Lava Rom Glitch ~ This is a glitch where you can skip the entire fight with the two Gigantes in the Lava Room. To do it:

    1. Activate the Ditman Glitch.
    2. Climb up the ladder leading to the zip line.
    3. Use the zip line to get to the other side of the room.
    4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 a few more times until you go through the wall behind the lever in the room.
    5. Exit through the door where the Gigantes came from.

    =========
    B. Pre-game
    =========

Q11: Should I buy this game?
A: Tough call. With the Wii Edition, that makes 4 separate versions of Resident Evil 4 (GCN, PS2, PC, Wii). However, I think it is safe to say that this is the "complete" version of Resident Evil 4 that we've all been waiting for -- with motion control, of course. And at $30 (in the U.S.), it's not very steep either for a great game. If you are still iffy about purchasing it, give it a rental and then decide.

Q12: What is this game about?
A: I'm feeling a bit lazy, so how about I just include that short Prologue found in the Instruction Booklet?

Several years have passed since the destruction of Raccoon City...
Leon is now facing his ultimate challenge...
    A mysterious village...
    Creatures that defy nature...
    Are they human?
A curse that plagues the human body...

Basically the President's daughter, Ashley Graham, has been kidnapped and Leon S. Kennedy is dispatched into Spain for a solo mission to recover her, but things take a turn for the worst when Leon finds there is something terribly wrong with the locals in the area...

    Q13: Is this game scary?
    A. Er... not quite. But I will say that it has some intense moments.

Q14: Do I need to play the other games in the series to understand the story?
A: Well, as a Resident Evil junkie, I would say absolutely you should play the other games in the series. But to be honest, you don't need to play them in order to understand the story in Resident Evil 4. It's more of a stand-alone title with closer ties to Resident Evil 2 because of a certain character in a red dress. Regardless, if you don't want to play the actual games (but still want to know about the story) read up on this Plot Analysis FAQ written by TWilde / President Evil. It's a very good read:

    http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/file/925156/2204

Q15: What are the difficulty levels in this game?
    A. I'll list them along with my take on each Difficulty Mode:

NOTE: The Wii Edition North American version does not include Amateur or Easy mode while the European Wii Edition version comes with Easy, but not Amateur mode.

Amateur ~ Exclusive to the Wii Edition. Unless you are having issues adjusting to the Wii Controls, I would say to avoid this butchered version of the game.
Easy ~ Some things are cut out like the Hedge Maze in the Castle and various other areas. I would suggest sticking to Normal to get a complete experience.
Normal ~ Not too hard, not too easy. Plus, this is the complete version as the two easier modes in the game cut things out.
Professional ~ Beat the game once to unlock. It ramps up the difficulty a bit and provides some more challenges. At least we get something for beating it, eh? (The people who played the GameCube version know what I'm talking about...)

Q16: How long is this game?
    A. For a first-timer on Normal difficulty, it will take around 16 hours or so. I'd imagine that a Amateur/Easy run would be considerably less.

Q17: What are the unlockable items/weapons in this game?
    A. Well let's see here. How about I list them for you then...

    Complete the Main Game once:
    - Alternate Title Screen
    - Professional Difficulty ~ Ready to try a harder difficulty after completing Normal? Then this Mode is for you.
    - Infinite Rocket Launcher ~ Just like the name says, it fires Infinite Rockets. NOTE: When using it, it doesn't effect your Accuracy Percentage. So fire away!
    - Matilda ~ Pistol that fires in 3 rounds bursts. Large capacity, low damage, extreme firing rate. It's a bit of an ammo hog.
    - Special Costume 1 ~ Leon gets an RPD uniform and Ashley has a "Pop Star" outfit.
    - Separate Ways ~ Mini-Game featuring Ada Wong. It fills in some holes that the Main Game left.
    - Assignment Ada ~ Non-Canon Mini-Game featuring Ada Wong. It's there just for fun, and is very short.
    - Mercenaries ~ 4 Levels + 5 Characters + Waves of Ganados + Mini-Bosses = Endless Fun.
    - Movie Browser ~ Watch cutscenes from the Main Game.

    Q18: Is Dante/MMX/Mr. T/Rand al'Thor in this game?
    A. This was only added for old time's sake. Resident Evil 4 PS2 board. <3

In answer to the actual question, though... No. Although, they'd be killing machines if they were.

    ==========
    C. Basics
    ==========

Q19: What are the free weapons that can be found throughout the game?
    A. I'll go ahead and list them -- there really aren't that many.

    1. Shot Gun ~ Found in the second story of a house in the Village (You can get it during the actual Village attack or after if you don't want to trigger the appearance of Dr. Salvador to make things easier on yourself). You'll see which house I'm talking about when you get into the town. It's the only two-story house in that particular area.

    2. Punisher ~ After you've reached the Farm (still in the Village area), you can start a "Side-Quest" by shooting the hanging blue medallions you see. 7 are located in the Farm and 8 are around the Graveyard near the Church. Shooting 10 of them will give you the gun itself... but shooting all 15 will get you one with a Fire Power upgrade. Just talk to the Merchant again to claim your prize. It's worth it, and not much of a hassle. If you need help looking for the medallions, check your map.

    3. Rocket Launcher ~ In 3-3, after the Cage Fight with the Garrador. You'll come to the place where you raise the walkway with the lever, etc. If you go to the left side of the room, there will be a Rocket Launcher inside of a glass case along with ammo. Go ahead and load up and make room for the Rocket Launcher. You'll be needing it in 4-1 when you face off with Salazar's "right hand"... Verdugo.

    4. Broken Butterfly ~ Once you've reached 4-1, you'll be reunited with Ashley. From there, backtrack to the area just before the Hedge Maze (near the fountain where 3 crows were sitting) Go to the nearby window and use the 'Piggyback' option when it comes up to have Ashley climb through the opening and unlock the door for you. The free Broken Butterfly is inside, along with some other goodies.

Q20: Are there any extra scenes in the Main Game I can miss?
    A. There are a few pretty interesting ones (I may be missing a few -- such as the optional scene in the first Village fight if you trigger Dr. Salvador by going into the two story house, but it's really minor stuff.):

    1. Ada...? ~ Once Leon enters the Village Chief's house at the end of 1-2 (There's a pathetic "puzzle" to enter the house -- a glass ball lodged into a door with the cult's insignia on it that you have to roll into the right position), find the Insignia Key and exit the bedroom to make a cutscene play of Leon being attacked by Mendez. Once he lets you go, he'll enter his bedroom and that will signal the end of Chapter 1-2. Once 1-3 begins... go back into the Chief's bedroom. Leon's wanting another beating, I guess. Anyway, someone's watching over Leon (and saves his neck, which won't be the last time)... and she's wearing a red dress. Who could that be?

    2. Del Lago Feeds ~ Chapter 1-3. You'll have two small paths to take after coming out of the flooded area with the number of Ganados. One turns off slightly to the right, leading directly to a lake along with two small cabins, while the other is slightly more elevated and is straight. If you take the straight path up, a cutscene will play where two Ganados feed a huge creature living in the lake (named Del Lago) one of your buddies from the beginning of the game.

    3. Del Lago Feeds... Again ~ Chapter 1-3. Before the first boss-fight with Del Lago, you will have an opportunity to shoot the fish in the lake you come across. If you take 5-6 shots at the lake from the small dock, Del Lago's massive head will pop out of the water suddenly and eat Leon. Quite surprising for the first time you play the game.

    4. Cabin Fight ~ During the Cabin "showdown" before the Two Paths, you'll be fighting alongside Luis Sera against what seems an endless tide of Ganados. If you shoot Luis a certain number of times, Leon will meet an unfortunate (but well deserved) end.

Q21: How old is Leon in RE4?
    A. He was 21 in RE2, so 6 years later he would be 27.

    Q22: How do I save?
    A. Well that's an easy one. At the end of every chapter, it will ask you if you would like to save the game. However, the Typewriters are back from previous RE games but you won't be needing an ink cartridge. Just simply walk up to one and save. If you check your map, you'll see where they are located.

Q23: What's up with the Codec... are they trying to copy Metal Gear?
    A. Probably. But anything Metal Gear-ish is good. We need more Metal Gear in this world. @__@

Q24: Can you move when shooting?
    A. No, you can't strafe. Use quick-turn if you start to get attacked from behind.

Q25: What are the Gandos suppo--
    A. Stop right there. It is not Gando or Granado... The correct word is Ganado. And don't let me catch you saying "Gando" on the board, either. It's annoying...

Q26: Why don't the Ganados use guns? There was a shotgun on the wall and they didn't use it.
    A. Well... they seem content with using their pitchforks, etc. So let's not give them any ideas about firearms... >_>

Q27: What are the herbs used for?
    A. You can combine them for different effects. The herb combinations are as follows:

Green - Provides a decent health boost when used.
Red - Cannot be used alone.
Yellow - Cannot be used alone.
Green/Green - Provides an even better health boost when used.
    Green/Green/Green - Full health.
    Green/Red - Full health.
Green/Yellow - Small health recovery + increases your maximum health slightly.
Green/Red/Yellow - Full health + when using this combination it increases your maximum health slightly.
Red/Yellow - Much like The Goggles, They Do Nothing.

Q28: What's the best healing item in the game?
    A. As a stand-alone healing item, it would have to be the Golden Egg. It recovers full health and only takes up one small space in Leon's Attache Case. Chickens in the Village drop/lay them, so if you're up for "farming" for eggs early in the game go ahead and do so. But, overall, the best healing item in the game is the Herb mix of Green/Red/Yellow because it recovers full health and increases the maximum amount of health that Leon and Ashley can have.

Q29: Why do the crows carry money, ammo, and grenades?
    A. That's not a very easy question to answer... But it appears that the crows around Pueblo are thieves! So kill every last one of those evil birds you see.

Q30: Are the Treasure Maps worth buying?
    A. Yes, you should buy them. It will pay off in the end because it shows you exactly where hidden treasures are (to be sold later). You end up making much more than what it cost to buy the map itself.

Q31: I'm low on ammo, and there are a lot of enemies! What do I do?
    A. To conserve ammo, you should use the Knife as often as possible. While the game throws ammo at you like crazy (with the ability to upgrade weapons), you still may find yourself scrambling for bullets at times. In that case, use the "Knife Technique".

When a Ganado/Zealot/Soldier comes near you, swipe them with the Knife and that will cause them to recoil. From there, run toward them to either kick or suplex them to the ground. If there are other Ganados around it will have some "splash damage" causing others to get knocked down in the process as well. Get over the fallen Ganado(s) and pull out your knife and go to town on them. It should kill him/her before they are able to get up again... Rinse and repeat.

Q32: What's the best way to deal with Las Plagas?
    A. There's no faster way to get rid of Las Plagas (when they explode out of a Ganados' neck) than a flash grenade. Use that to your advantage in the Cabin Fight in the Village.

Q33: What happens if Ashley gets carried off?
    A. Fission Mailed. Go ahead and try again -- and be more careful of Ashley this time, ya hear?

Q34: What does TMP stand for?
    A. Tickle Me Plaga. It was Capcom's attempt to leave the video gaming industry behind to get into the plush toy business. I guess the idea failed... =(

Alright, alright. It really just stands for Tactical Machine Pistol. Happy now?

Q35: Who is the Merchant, and how does he get to places so fast?
    A. Simple. There is more than one Merchant. In fact, he is a Gypsy that travels with his brothers from town to town in search of out-dated currency. In this case... Pesetas. If you act quickly, you can collect their Gypsy Tears for a special unlockable at the end of the game. SRSLY!

Q36: Did you lie when answering the previous question?
    A. Why yes I did. <_<

To be honest, no one really knows much about the Merchant. He's just a guy that loves to buy weapons/jewelry at a HIGH PRICE. And if you didn't know, this is the first time he's made an appearance in a Resident Evil game.

Q37: Does the Merchant sell ammunition?
    A. No. Only weapons, upgrades for those weapons, and some items like Treasure Maps and First Aid Sprays. It's also a good idea to sell any Spinels, Velvet Blues, etc. that you find laying around to him.

Although, if you upgrade the ammo capacity of a weapon, the Merchant will max out what you need free of charge. Use that to your advantage if you ever get into a jam with little to no ammunition.

Q38: What happens if I kill the Merchant? >:3
    A. =O

If you kill the Weapons Dealer (which only takes one shot or knife swipe) in Amateur, Easy, or Normal... he'll return to the same spot once you exit the area and then enter again. However, if you kill the Weapons Dealer in Professional Mode, he'll be gone from that location forever. DUN DUN DUNNN!!! Serves you right, murderer.

Q39: Where does Leon keep that Attache Case?
    A. ...

Women have more hiding places than men. That statement holds true for the most part, but in Leon's case... it's false. You see, Leon S. Kennedy was born without a rib cage. It' was a horrible birth defect that he began to use to his advantage while growing up. Mama S. Kennedy said no pets in the house? He'd hide a kitten near his spleen and let it out when she wasn't around to play. He was also used as a coke mule across the Mexican border because of the defect...

So yes, that's where he keeps his items. An attache case in his chest cavity.

Q40: What other Resident Evil games has Krauser been in?
    A. NONE. Resident Evil 4 is Krauser's first appearance in the RE series.

Q41: Why aren't there any children in the game?
    A. I don't think having Plagas-infected children that are enemies (that can be killed) in a game would provide good P.R. for Capcom, or any other company for that matter. So they left them out. But as a way to describe why they aren't present in the game, just look at it this way -- either the Plagas were too much for a child's body and they died from harboring a growing Plaga, or the other Ganados are cannibals and killed them. Although there is a lot of bloody food on tables, and bodies in the Village. Maybe those are the children...

Q42: What's the point of the dog caught in the bear trap in the beginning?
    A. Capcom just included "that dog" as a plug for the Capcom game "Haunting Ground", much like how they lightly promoted Killer7 with the magnum available in the game. That dog's name is Hewie and if you get him out of the trap, he'll help you later on in a fight against the first El Gigante.

Q43: So I was shooting the boxes on the tables and...
    A. NO. Use the knife to bust open crates, boxes, etc... it's a total waste of ammo to shoot them!

Q44: I'm having trouble at the first Village near the beginning of the game. Any tips?
    A. This part can be tough for a player who is new to RE4, and the Wii control setup in general.

Well, for starters... don't enter the two story house or go down the small path near the two story house unless you'd like to face-off with Dr. Salvador. Instead, climb the tower and constantly drop down and climb it again until the time is up... or for a "less cheap" way, enter the house directly across from the two story building and shoot a hole in the bottom of the wooden door. With that, you can then see the enemies coming and know when to aim low and slash them with the Knife. After a certain number of enemies are dead (or a certain amount of time passes), a cutscene will play.

However, if you'd like to hold up in the two story house make use of the bookshelves/dressers. They can be moved in front of windows/doors to keep the Ganados out of the house for a bit longer. During that time, run upstairs and grab the shotgun on the wall. Because Dr. Salvador will be on the loose, you may want to save those shells for him... but it also works great for groups. Feel free to lob a grenade at a cluster of them as well to take out as many as possible. Once you kill enough enemies, the cutscene will play.

    Q45: Can the cows die?
    A. Yes, they can. Be careful though, they are feisty.

Q46: Can you die by getting your leg caught in the bear traps?
    A. No, you can't. But your health can go to zero if you constantly run into them. My advice would be to check the ground often for traps.

Q47: Is the scared dog in the farm area the same dog I saved from the bear trap earlier?
    A. No, it isn't.

Q48: Why can't I suplex this Ganado? I can do it just fine on the Zealots and Soldiers...
    A. You can only suplex Zealots in the Castle and Soldiers on the Island. It can't be done to the Ganados of the Village.

Q49: What happened to Leon's jacket?
    A. A Ganado stole it. In fact, you'll get the opportunity to kill the culprit in Separate Ways with Ada.

Q50: What's with the fish before the Cemetery?
    A. If you have the patience, you can shoot and sell them to the Merchant. It's not really worth it to keep them for healing "items" because they take up space, but that's also an option if you choose to do so.

Q51: I can't figure out this puzzle behind the church. What's the solution?
    A. Rotate the dial in this order: 3-3-3-4-4-4-3.

Q52: I keep hitting the trees floating in the lake during the boss fight with Del Lago. Any advice?
    A. Yeah, sure. Simply use the control stick to move the boat in the direction you need to go in order to dodge the trees.

Q53: El Gigante is giving me some problems, and I need some words of advice. Have any for me?
    A. Use a high powered weapon (maybe the Bolt Action Rifle if you are quick) and shoot him in the face. Once he falls to the ground, his Plagas will sprout from his massive back. Approach El Gigante and climb up to slash the knife at his weak spot. Do this 2-3 more times and he'll go down in a heap. Be aware that a dodge command will come up if you are in range of being fallen on.

If you saved the dog in the bear trap near the beginning of the game, it will make this fight somewhat easier since Hewie (the dog making a cameo from Haunting Ground) will distract El Gigante letting you get some free shots on the beast.

Q54: How do I get across on the chandelier in the Church?!
    A. You've got to be kidding me. No? You're not? Okay then... as soon as you jump onto the chandelier, tap the Action button immediately and Leon will get across with ease.

Q55: I can't figure out the Red, Green, Blue puzzle inside of the Church. What do I do?
    A. If you'll notice the Los Illuminados symbol is clear, so it's really an easy "puzzle." But if you are still having problems, here's how many times you need to turn each one:

    Red - 2
    Green- 3
    Blue - 1

    Q56: How old is Ashley?
    A. 20 years old. Why do you care, though? Did you upskirt her and then feel bad about it? Shame on you!

    Q57: Wait.
    A. Follow me. You'll be using that command quite a bit throughout the game, so get used to it.

Q58: The Cabin is really hard. What do I have to do to beat this part?
    A. Don't get frustrated. It may take a couple of tries to get it down...

First of all, close up the windows with the bookshelves (probably on just two so that you can still pick off Ganados trying to get in through the open window) and help Luis out if he gets overwhelmed and grabbed. If Las Plagas appears (and they will...) just use a Flash Grenade to take them out with ease. Otherwise your ammo will suffer and it'll just make this part of the game harder for you. A good place to make a stand is the staircase itself, that way you can bottleneck the enemies and take them out one by one or blast them with the Shotgun for massive damage.

In the second phase of the Cabin Fight, the bottom floor will be completely overrun and Ganados will climb ladders and start pouring in through the windows of the second floor. Quickly go upstairs and continually knock the ladders down or else you'll have a whole mess of Ganados in the room to deal with. Keep the Ganados off of Luis and be careful not to shoot him too many times. Accidents happen, right? So it's okay if you hit him a couple of times in the heat of the battle. Eventually a cutscene will play, which signals the end of the hectic fight.

Q59: Which path should I take... left or right?
    A. Both. That is, if you want the treasures offered on the left and right paths. Once you beat one path, backtrack to the area with the lever to try the remaining path.

The left path is the harder of the two (make sure to tell Ashley to hide in a nearby dumpster or else she'll get in the way and cause problems), but it's not too rough. It has a lot of Ganados along with a new enemy (or should I say enemies?) -- the Bella Sisters. These ladies aren't anything to mess with as they work together in an attempt to take Leon's head clean off with their chainsaws. And the worst part of it is, you'll be in a "pit" with them whenever they first appear. Before you jump into the "pit", make sure not to knock down the closest ladder to you. You'll need it to get back up to make things easier. That way, you can kill the surrounding Ganados on the higher level with you while keeping an eye on the Sisters and shooting them anytime they begin to climb a ladder up. But don't worry if they get up to your level. Just blast them with the Shotgun to knock them down. From there on out, the left path should be simple.

The right path is another El Gigante. But because you have Ashley this time, things are made a bit trickier. Shoot the boulder above at the right time as El Gigante comes toward you and it should bring him down so that you can work on his Plaga sprouting from his back with the Knife. I suggest using the TMP for this boss fight, but anything works. Just make sure to keep an eye on Ashley's health. Get the Old Key from a small shack and you'll be able to exit the area.

    Q60: I can't beat Mendez... Help?
    A. There is a glitch that should make the boss fight considerably easier.

After the cutscene, climb the ladder behind you and go to the left. There are some boards that are blocking the way. Get behind these boards and look down. Mendez, in his first form, will continue walking (looking up at you) towards the wall with no attack. Shoot him until a short cutscene kicks in. Once that is finished you'll be in the second phase of the boss fight. Mendez in his second form is a bit harder, but if you can position Mendez to the left of the boards and stay in the right corner, he will attempt to hit you with his claw but if you are positioned right, he won't hurt you. He'll keep doing it, and be completely open. Shoot him repeatedly, and the fight will be over shortly. From there, collect the items in the area, the cash Mendez dropped, and most importantly -- the False Eye because you won't be able to come back once you leave through the hole in the wall.

However, if you don't want to exploit that glitch... keep in mind that Mendez is weak to incendiary grenades. So use them, as well as the explosive barrel to your right when the boss fight begins.

Q61: So those Zealots say "Moldy STDs" a lot don't they?
    A. They are actually saying, "Morir es vivir" which translates as "To die is to live"... Check this Translations FAQ (All credit goes to PowerMate_V100) for a full list of what the Ganados are saying:

    http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/file/925156/40899

    A. *Backs away slowly* O_o

Q64: What kind of tips are there for dealing with the first Garrador in the prison?
    A. Well, first off leave Ashley outside of the prison door. She'll just get in the way.

Obviously, the Garrador's weak spot is the Plaga on his back, so hit that with your Rifle or whatever you deem fit. Don't run right by him, because as you can see... he's blind. So he relies on his keen sense of hearing to track you down. So the solution? Walk. Shoot the two bells in the room to distract the Garrador giving you some free shots on his exposed Plaga. After awhile, he'll fall and die. Take the 15,000 Pesetas and pull the lever in his cell and then exit.

Q65: The water room. 'Nuff said. What do I do?
    A. This should go without saying but... protect Ashley at all costs. She's weaker than you, so bring out that shotgun and blast the Zealots when they get too close. Be careful, because Type 2 Plagas will sprout out of the enemy's necks, and if they get too close to you... be prepared for a One Hit Kill attack when they rip your head off with one simple bite.

I would say to stay at the door where you entered and take out the enemies one by one. Then use your rifle to kill the two Zealots with the crossbows on the second floor once the second wave of enemies are dead. The easiest way to deal with the Shield Zealots is the Shotgun or Rifle. From there, head downstairs (it's directly across from the door you entered from) and kill the enemies left hanging around. Use the shotgun or throw a grenade into the mix if groups start to overwhelm you.

Enter the only door down there and position Ashley on one of the yellow squares. Tell her to wait, and position yourself on the other one for a lever to come up in the main room. Stay where you are and kill the Zealots that advance to the small room (they come from the door, or drop down from the hole in the ceiling). In order to trigger them coming, though, you may have to open up the door to the room and then walk back. Regardless, once the Zealots stop advancing (or it slows to just one Shield Zealot) you can enter the main hall again and have Ashley turn the crank (or you could do it yourself for faster results) and the staircase will drop... with a surprise.

Five Zealots with scythes. Take them out quickly, but if they throw the scythes, you could always shoot them down so Leon isn't decapitated. Walk up the stairs and Ashley will notice a crank, so piggyback her up to the walkway so she can turn it. Zealots will start attacking both of you again, and Ashley will be completely exposed to being carried off. So make sure you kill any Zealots walking slowly toward her while still taking care of yourself in the process from attacking Zealots. Be careful not to shoot Ashley, as well.

Once she has turned the two cranks, catch her and quickly exit the door across the water.

Q66: What do I get for playing the Target Practice Game?
    A. In the Castle out in the Observation Hall (the room directly after the Water Room -- there are two upside down statues in it), there's the first door (It's blue with gold guns engraved into it -- there are more later) to the Target Practice game.

You'll be able to collect Bottle Caps of certain RE4 characters and enemies as you play through the Target Practice game. For each row you complete (of Bottle Caps), you'll be raking in some cash as well:

    First Row ~ 25,000 Pesetas
    Second Row ~ 30,000 Pesetas
    Third Row ~ 30,000 Pesetas
    Fourth Row ~ 50,000 Pesetas

I suggest that you play the Target Practice game on your first run so you can use the extra Pesetas (135,000 PTAS will certainly help you) to upgrade your weapons. Check out this FAQ (written by typhlosion5555) for a run-down on the Shooting Range - including the full list of Bottle Caps:

Q67: What are these... invisible bugs?
    A. They are called Novistadors and if you want to see Leon's coolest death scene in the game, let them grab you and puke on you with their acid when your health is low.

Q68: Are the Novistador "Eyes" important?
    A. You'll need one Red, one Green, and one Blue in order to complete the Butterfly Lamp. There are two Butterfly Lamps in the game -- so obviously you'll need two of each Novistador Eye. Lol, math.

Q69: Is there anything I can do to get Blue Eyes, Red Eyes, Green Eyes, etc.?
    A. Some have claimed that if you shoot the Novistadors at certain times they will drop different colored eyes, but to be honest... it's completely random. Although you'll be sure to get a Blue Eye (the most rare of the Eyes) a bit later at their Nest if you shoot it down.

Q70: There are Zealots praying at some weird alter. How do I kill them all quickly so they don't get away?
    A. An incendiary grenade or hand grenade should do the trick, but you'll have to throw it just right. Your main target to kill is the one in the red robes, because he'll drop a Los Illuminados Pendant, while the others in black robes drop Spinels. You'll get quite a bit of money in this section, so make your shot counts and don't alert them to your presence early, otherwise they'll make a run for it. In consecutive runs, the Infinite Rocket Launcher is the best thing to use here. But don't even think about buying a Rocket Launcher just for this part.

Q71: I don't get the Gallery Room Portrait Puzzle. How do I solve it quickly?
    A. Press the numbers in this order: 1, 2, 3, 4. Then press OK. Simple.

Q72: The Hedge Maze is really annoying. Any advice?
    A. If you are having trouble here by the attacking Plagas-infected wolves, simply do a quick 180 turn when they are about to lunge forward at you. For whatever reason, Capcom didn't include an animation of them attacking Leon from the back. So use that to your advantage to get a clear shot as the wolves make their way around to Leon's front. Once the Plaga tentacles actually appear, though... you'll have no choice but to take them out. In that case, the best time to shoot them is when they are just jumping into the air. That way, the wolves cannot sidestep your shots like they do when they are on the ground.

Q73: Who was that girl in the red dress?
    A. Ada Wong. She first appeared in Resident Evil 2 (and supposedly died in the game --only to be saved by Wesker himself), and is an important factor to the Resident Evil series in general. Don't worry, that won't be the last time you see her...

Q74: Leon mentioned Ada working with Wesker... what did he mean?
    A. Albert Wesker -- former leader of the S.T.A.R.S. Alpha Team from Resident Evil 1. As it turned out, he was actually an Umbrella Operative/Researcher and the events of RE1 were a "test" for the many creatures that the T-Virus created throughout the mansion. However, Wesker had his own plans -- which included double-crossing Umbrella, although his plans were cut short when he was apparently killed by the Tyrant near the end of Resident Evil 1.

It didn't last very long though... in Code: Veronica, Wesker returns -- working for an outfit seeking to steal Umbrella's research. And, as it turns out, he had intentionally injected himself with a virus in the first game and faked his own death so that the Tyrant could kill the remaining S.T.A.R.S. members and he could revive with a serum only to collect the Tyrant "combat data" to give to Umbrella's rival company, S (one that Ada also worked for). That would be how Ada was saved during Resident Evil 2 before Raccoon City's destruction -- Ada and Wesker were in league with one another.

From what Leon said in Resident Evil 4, it's safe to assume that he had heard about most of these events through another source -- most likely Chris or Claire Redfield. Although Ada has her own plans that even Wesker (who has a fetish for collecting samples of viruses, etc.) doesn't know about... although the entire point of Ada's presence in RE4 is to retrieve a sample of Las Plagas for Wesker -- or so he thinks.

Q75: What weapon should I use to shoot the wine bottle before the Cage fight?
    A. Putting that Shooting Gallery practice to good use, I see. Good for you. Just about any weapon works as long as you have good aim, but I'd say to go ahead and use whichever rifle you have to get the job done for a first time runner. It can easily be done with a handgun or whatever you have on you, though. It's timed, so if you take too long you'll have to ring the bell to try again. Be quick about it, and mentally prepare yourself for the cage coming up next...

Q76: The Cage with the Garrador is tough. Tips, please?
    A. The easiest way to get some more breathing room is to skip the cutscene as soon as it starts. The use a Hand Grenade to blow the cage door down. It should also kill any surrounding Zealots in the area. Quickly get out of the cage and take out the Zealots that are left. Some will drop from the hole in the ceiling, landing in the cage so kill them as quickly as possible to clear out the room so you can focus on the Garrador. Anyway, once all of the Zealots are dead, walk around the outside of the cage until you can get a shot at the Las Plagas on the Garrador's back. Shoot it, and then repeat the process until he's down. Just try to keep him inside of the cage to make it easier on yourself.

Q77: I don't have enough room in my case for the free Rocket Launcher. Should I bother getting it?
    A. Make room. This is the free Rocket Launcher that you'll use to take down Verdugo in 4-1. So do not use it until then or I'll castrate you. Although, on second thought, you can forget about the Rocket Launcher until you backtrack (to get the Broken Butterfly) with Ashley and get it then.

Q78: What... what was the thing that came out of Saddler's robe? O____o
    A. A Las Plagas' tentacle doing the move fondly referrered to as the "Wangpale". Saddler is more than meets the eye, apparently.

    Q79: LUUUUUUUUUUUUIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIISSSSSSS?
    A. MIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIKE!

Q80: How do I get Ashley free from her bonds?
    A. Shoot the 3 bonds holding her with a rifle for precision, because you don't want to shoot Ashley. Or do you? Tsk tsk...

Q81: How do I do the 3x3 puzzle with Ashley?
    A. Move the left piece into the middle and go counter clockwise from there.

Q82: Can Ashley suplex like Leon? Seriously?
    A. Yeah, in the short amount of time you play as Ashley, just hit the zealots with a door (by pushing it open when they are behind it) to stun them. Run up to them and press A to suplex them.

NOTE: I've only done this on the NTSC GC version, so it's quite possible this was taken out for the PS2/Wii versions of the game. I'll check it on my next run-through of the game. >.>

Q83: Is there any easy way to take out the Zealots on the dragon statues that spit fire?
    A. You can always shoot the chains coming from the ceilings instead of waiting to get a shot on the Zealot controlling the fire. That's probably the easiest way.

Q84: Why didn't Leon just shoot Salazar in his tiny head when he had the chance?
    A. Ah, video games. Don't you love them?

Q85: Ashley keeps dying after I get the King's Grail. What should I do?
    A. Protip: Make Ashley wait before entering the room with the King's Grail. It will make your time easier in there when dealing with the Armaduras.

The best way to deal with the two waves is to use a flash grenade to immediately kill the Plagas. If you don't have any flash grenades, then use a high powered weapon to bring them down. Be careful of the Type 2 Plagas, since they can One Hit Kill you if they get too close.

Q86: After getting the two Grails, I'll enter in through the door across the ha---
    A. STOP. DON'T. OPEN. THAT. DOOR!! (For all you Resident Evil 1 fans out there)

Anyway, you'll have a chance of missing the second Butterfly Lamp if you don't get it now. So before you enter the the Novistador Hive ballroom, you should notice all of the broken windows. If you go next to the windows closest to the door on the right. You'll see a ladder on the outside. Face the window and jump over. Then climb the ladder up, and claim the Butterfly Lamp after a bit of a walk. Do not shoot the Hive/Nest that you see from the balcony. Wait until you enter the room to do that. Believe me, you'll get plenty of Eyes from it, including a rare Blue Eye.

Q87: Can that giant Novistador nest be shot down?
    A. Yes, it can. But wait until after you kill all of the Novistadors in the area. Then shoot it and collect all of the Eyes it drops. There should be at least one Blue Eye in there to finish off a Butterfly Lamp too.

Q88: This many Novistadors is a chore. What's the best way to deal with them?
    A. Shoot them when they are flying. It only takes one shot to kill them that way. If you can't, be ready to press A to kick them if they get too close.

Q89: How do I get the Clock Tower running again?
    A. You'll need to shoot the 3 wooden blocks jamming the gears. They are a light tan color, so they are easy to spot. Once you have shot them, turn the lever on the highest part of the Clock Tower. The Clock should begin running again, unless you missed a wooden block somewhere. Once the Clock begins to work again, you'll have quite a few Zealots to deal with.

Q90: There are TWO Garradors and Zealots in a room, what do I do?
    A. Yes, they spice it up this time around, but luckily they also included two bells that you can use to distract the Garradors. First, deal with the two Zealots in front of the Garradors by using your rifle to make it quick. This should cause the Garradors to come after you, so use the same tactic you did in the Prison with the first Garrador. Walk slowly and use the bells to distract the Garradors... Get a good distance from them and snipe the Plaga on their backs with the Rifle to make the fight easier, as well. After one Garrador is dead, the other should be simple to defeat. Once you get closer to the exit, more Zealots will appear, so kill them and be on your way.

Q91: I found a blooper! Salazar sends his "Right Hand" after you, but he's on his left. LOL!
    A. You're wrong. When Salazar mentioned his "Right Hand" he wasn't talking about which side of his body Verdugo was to him... "Right Hand" just means that Salazar trusts Verdugo more to get the job done (in killing Leon). Nothing more.

Q92: I've tried beating Verdugo, but it's impossible. Is there an easier way?
    A. Well, technically, you don't even have to kill him. Just wait it out until the elevator comes down and avoid his attacks until then.

Or if you're determined to get the Crown Jewel, then there's an easier way to get it done. If you already used (or didn't pick up) the free rocket launcher in the Castle, go ahead and buy a new one after Salazar has you fall into the abyss with the spikes. There's a Merchant nearby, and then a boss fight with Salazar's "Right Hand" coming up shortly.

Dodge Verdugo's attacks as you make your way to the Control Panel Room at the end of the "hallway". Once there, check the Control Panel, and the shutters will close -- but more importantly, the Elevator will rise. Try to open the door, and Verdugo will appear. Simply run to the nearest Liquid Nitrogen Tank and tip it over when Verdugo is near. It will freeze him. That's your cue to take out your Rocket Launcher and blow him into pieces. Take your prize and leave now that the shutter is open and head for the Elevator. What was a potentially hard boss fight turned out to be cake, huh?

Q93: Can the boulder in the Las Plagas mine area be blown up with a rocket from the RL? I'm working on a speed run and it would help...
    A. The only version of RE4 that you cannot blow up the boulder with a rocket is the NTSC GameCube RE4. All the others, including the Wii Edition, can do it. So use that to your advantage during a speed run. Otherwise, it's a waste of cash.

Q94: Now I'm fighting two El Gigantes. What's a quick way to kill them?
    A. First of all, if you pull the lever when one of the Gigantes are on top of the "opening", he'll fall into the lava and die. But don't get too close, otherwise it will grab you and pull you in with it. After that, the last El Gigante should be treated like all of the others. But if you get into a bind, use the zip line to get some breathing room from him.
