Even though it's not a true HD remake, the amazing atmosphere and great game play convinced me right away

Not having a Game Cube or PS2 means I missed out on the original version. I was mighty pleased to suddenly see RE4 pop up in Xbox Live.

The reports about the upscaled graphics and grainy textures had me worried, but even though I'm playing via HDMI on a 52" plasma screen it's not an issue at all. The reports are exaggerated, so instead of flaming CAPCOM for not making a true HD release I'll thank them for making this great game available to the rest of us.

The amazing atmosphere and great game play had me hooked right away. This is old skool gaming at its best.

When you're used to the control scheme from games like Halo and Gears of War, the controls in RE4 are slightly fiddly. However, after less than an hour you'll be quite at home and I consider the controls and camera angle part of the challenge.

Only a couple of hours into the game now, but I see why Edge Magazine awarded RE4 with a 9/10 back in 2005.
