Resident Evil 2 has to be one of the best video games I have ever played probably in my entire life. No, I'm not overreacting, kidding, or just saying this. This is truly the best game I have ever played since Ocarina of Time. In fact, this is just as good as Ocarina of Time. You may think I'm inexperienced when I'm saying this, but I'm being dead serious here. Everything in this game is perfect.... It is perfect.

The plot picks up where the last Resident Evil left off. After the zombie infested mansion is blown to smithereens, the T virus that started all this somehow finds its way to a close by city, named Raccoon City. Soon, almost everyone in the city gets infected with the virus, making them mindless zombies who want to eat nothing but flesh, just like in the last Resident Evil. The whole city just turns into hell, leaving only a few survivors a chance to escape. The plot has to be the greatest one I have ever heard for a sequel in a video game, ever. It turns what was just only 100 zombies from the first Resident Evil, into thousands, with a hazardous virus. I don't even think Legend of Zelda could top something that great as a sequel. It’s that good.

This is where things start to get even more interesting. A couple hours after this started happening, two outsiders come into the area not aware of what is going on. One of them is a rookie cop, that goes by the name of Leon S. Kennedy. Leon has been hired by the Raccoon Police Department, but arrives on his first day late, due to drinking problems after breaking up with his girlfriend. The other character in the game is Claire Redfield, who comes to Raccoon in hopes of finding any clues on where to find her brother Chris Redfield, who was in the previous Resident Evil. After they arrive at the city, they encounter a few zombies and find out what’s going on in the city. They finally meet each other, and become quick friends, and work together to get out of the city alive. You can play as both characters, so there’s a lot to be played here. After you beat the game with that character, you play as the other character and see what they was doing, as you were playing as Leon or whatever. This game has a lot of replay value.

The gameplay is of course, set up as a Survival Horror game, and lives up extremely well to this. The zombies approach you in desperation to just taste your flesh, and will do anything it takes to get a hold of you, so you will have a lot to be scared about. However, zombies are just a tip of the iceberg of what you’re dealing with here, so if zombies don't scare you, then the other monsters later in this game will. Ammo is not as resourceful as in other games, so making your shots count is very much needed in order to survive. The puzzles in the game are fun to participate in, and add a lot of more fun to this game also. The game feels so in depth, and is really immersive when you play it, especially when you have the lights off. That’s what makes the game so much fun to play; immersion, and this game carries this out perfectly.

The Graphics are just playing amazing. All the character models look like they were made with extreme care, and they look exactly the way they should. The CG animated cut scenes animate perfectly well, even on the N64 version. The environments and atmosphere you enter capture the mood of the whole thing perfectly, immersing you into the game even more. This game just looks spookingly’ beautiful overall.

The audio in this game is very big upgrade over the first Resident Evil. The voice work is absolutely spectacular. The voices sound really in character, and don't as bad as they did in the last Resident Evil. Its makes you feel like you’re actually in the drama that is unfolding. You will here a lot of zombie moaning and crowing in the background, and from the zombies themselves. The music in the game is really immersive as well, and captures the mood also.

The main reason why I say this game is one of the best ones ever, is because its totally immersive and fun, making the gameplay experience unlike any other. The amount of time they put into this game will definitely show up when you play it, it just has so many things in it that would probably make you think it couldn’t even fit on one game. Capcom has really hit the jackpot when they made this game, and this easily the best Resident Evil in the series, and just about the best game of all time. This game is a must play for hard core gamers, and anyone alike.

I give Resident Evil 2 a ten out of ten… It just blows me away every time I play it.
