Red Faction, my second love to the FPS world my first Half-Life, first being since I played Half-Life first.
Story:
Now I've seen the story line a million times people being forced into hard-ship laboring for hours a day with little food and water.
Parker was looking to leave Earth behind and start a new life on Mars and a new life is what he got, or at least he thought. The minors (workers) were being being forced to mine, well of course, and they had soon began to fall to victim to a plague which was slowly killing them off, EOS a rebel leader makes contact with Parker and asks him for his help. He saves the day, the end, just kidding ;)
Gameplay:
I just started this game and theres a locked door but I have no key all I have is this Rocket Launcher I took from this guy I beat to death. So I randomly shoot the wall and a hole is made, I shoot it again and it gets deepr I shoot around the door, you know the rest. I'm able to get passed the lock door. This at the time in my life, as I first played this game when I was 12 was the biggest advancement in Video Game history Geo-Mode Technology the ability to blow up anything and everything! I fell in love with this game, it must of taken me at least 30 hours to beat it. It's a time in my life I wish I could do over and over without the exception of being 24 years old now. 11 years later where did the time go? With the addition of hiding bodies using land, sea and air space ships this game has it all. Not to mention different clothing for when you feel the need to sneak around.
Multiplayer:
Half-life meets, 4x the speed and every weapon human possible to find the multiplayer cuts nothing short of the campaign and introduces a level editor, yes make your own maps :) if you're not running around like a chicken with its head cut off this game can teach you a lot about FPS and how to react it was the first game I ever utalized footsteps and being able to know and where my enemies are coming from.
Give the game a shot, you can find on steam for around $4.99 or PSN under the ps2 classics for 10 bucks I own this game, for every platform. With about 5 or 6 other games in the series none seem to match the glory days of the original. I love 3rd person shooters, but after you play this game and wanna play follow ups, good luck doing it 3rd person with worse voice acting before.
