My favourite FPS on PS2

User Rating: 9.2 | Red Faction PS2
Red Faction was one of the first games I played on the PS2 and when I recently re-bought a PS2 a few weeks ago I just had to go out and buy this game.

Red Faction's campaign mode offers a nice challenge without being overly frustrating. I've played through the game a lot now though so I can whizz through it pretty quickly.

It also has a deathmatch mode with the otion of playing with a second player and/or bots. This is great if you just want a quick dose of gaming and don't want to get in to the main mode.

The controls are just like any other FPS really and are very responsive. You can customise them to however you want as well.

Red Faction's graphics are also great and hold up pretty well when you compare it to newer games even though this game is 5 years old. The character models, weapons and environments are all very detailed and realistic. The game also runs really smooth too. I have noticed a little slowdown when there is a lot going on but it's not that bad. My favourite thing about the environments is that you can blow up pretty much anythiing you see. So if you can't get trhough a door, chances are you can make your own.

Sound effects are nicely done with guns and explosions being very clear as are the voices. Your enemies will often shout things at you, especially when you throw a remote mine on their face and they run off screaming right until you press the trigger.

RF features some intense and atmospheric music that tends to kick in when you're facing a bunch of enemies.

Overall this is a great game! The best First Person Shooter on the PS2 by far. If you haven't played this game then you should pick it up as soon as you can. It's extremely cheap now too. I got it for £2.99!!
