Engrossing. The best one in the RF series so far.

User Rating: 8 | Red Faction II PC
I've played this game for countless hours in the AI multiplayer and done the campaign several times as well. This was my introduction to the RF series and I judge all the others by reference to it. There's a good range of weapons with some unique units, such as the anti-personnel cannon. The rocket launcher and grenade launcher are a must for the multiplayer. The fire grenades, as always, are pretty cool too.

I think this game didn't do as well as it could have on others ratings/reviews because it didn't offer the multiplayer online. I didn't find this to be a problem since I've got better things to do than sit around for a few hours getting my A S S blown up by some 9 y.o. in kentucky. The AI isn't bad too and even after learning the patterns, it can still be a challenge on the highest difficult settings. The game allows for various parameter adjustments too to increase difficult in that way if a playa wants. The maps are elegant and varied with each providing a tangibly different kill experience.

The campaign is entertaining, with a decent storyline that's neither too obvious or cliche. There are a couple good vehicle levels, in addition to solid standard FPS action.
