Great engine, Poor A.I. and mission structure.

User Rating: 7.5 | Red Faction: Guerrilla PC
I will start off with my goods about the game Red Faction Guerrilla.

Amazing graphics. This game produces just stunning graphics and perfect lighting surroundings. Mars is alive in this game with it's populated roads of futuristic "dun buggies" and the ever so watchful E.D.F.
RFG has a custom made engine that acts with gravity and great physics. The structures are all well made with support beams and pillars for support and demolishing structures is very satisfying. The designers really made it difficult to take out large structures. So you must place those charges in the right spots to bring it down.
But that is not all RFG is about. There is plenty to do In Mars. For instance you can do missions and drive around find cool vehicles to race back to your base. Rescue hostages from EDF bases and much more.

Ok now the bad.
The A.I. is so terrible in RFG it makes me want to scream and pulls me away from the realism of the game. Enemies bump into walls and get stuck on objects to rush for cover behind walls. The ones that do make it behind over do it too well revealing a very small target to shoot. Ammunition is so bad in this game and does not keep up with the great epic fire fights this game has to offer. Every enemy has a 1 in 3 chance of having a weapon like yours so collecting ammo is always on low. Doing mostly because the RED EDF have too much armor and takes almost a whole clip to kill one EDF if not shot in the head. The game gets more crazy if you put escort missions mixed with bad A.I. and overwhelming amounts of EDF storming you from all flanks. A.I. escort missions always and forever will never work. Stop using them they are not fun. I don't like shooting my escort in the head because I am shooting someone in a gun turret. On top of the bad A.I. and no ammo to fend off swarms of EDF. I never did figure out if you could call reinforcements on your location during these hectic battles you will have. Vehicles drive some what great. but the low gravity makes bumps a life time to maneuver through the zig zaging terrain of Mars. The slightest bump and turn a vehicle over and ruin a tedious beat the clock races to the base missions.
There are other missions do mind. The Guerrilla war fights are very epic and the most fun. This time it is not just you in the resistance but many to help bring down EDF structures and eliminate EDF troops in the area and watch the place blow sky high. After the mission is complete and your "Alert" meter is in green and then you can salvage. Most missions it is way to hard to take down EDF structures collect ammo while doing it alone. And collect salvage at the same time. Salvage is the money of this game. But it takes too long to collect enough salvage to get that sweet rocket launcher and more salvage just to upgrade it. Your best bet for this game is to have some fun online with other people and duke it out there. Over all this game has the graphics and fire power and action to make it fun, but the insane hard waves of enemies and lack of A.I. for enemies and lack of ammo for weapons just gives the game an off set balance for me to not enjoy it as much. 7.5 is my score of Red Faction Guerrilla. Escort missions will always give low ratings.
