They took something great and ruined it.

I remeber playing the first Red Faction and being literally blown away by the fact you could make doors in walls. It was genius. The story of a guy on Mars trying to overthrow the oppresive regime wasn't new but it worked. The second red faction I never really got into it just seemed to chaotic.

The third game was a very bad attempt at some kind of mish mash of a number of games mainly GTA and Risk. These two combinations can work if you do them properly. Sadly, what we have here is a complete balls up of constantly getting shot at all the time while trying to avoid the AI's insane driving. On top of all this I felt like i was constantly being rushed even when there was no time limit while someone screamed in my ear that they were in trouble or the world was ending.

By the time I got to near end game I had enough. The AI was clunky and when you had cleared an area it turned out you hadn't because the bloody EDF were still there! I wish they had given this one a bit more thought. Free roam has always been a favourite gaming plus for me but to combine it with a Risk style genre proved a bad idea.
