When was the last time you played a western game? The answer is probably never. I got very excited before this game came out for the ps2, and believe me- I wasnt disappointed when the game came out. In this game, you play as Red, a bounty hunter. *SPOILERS* In the beginning of the game, you play as the young Red. Your father khit the jackpot in a goldmine. His partner owns half of their claim. All of a sudden, bandits rush into your territory and have a shootout with your dad. Your father gets killed. His pistol falls into the flames of their burning home. You grab the burning pistol, and shoot off the arm of your dad's killer. The cutscene ends, and your journey as a bounty hunter begins. I think this game truly captivates the feel of a western. The soundtrack is awesome! It kind of reminds me of good, bad, and ugly,- old western music. The sounds in the game are very realistic. Most of the awesome sound effects are gunshots, the thud of falling men, horses, and shouts. This game features an array of amazingly fun, and varied missions. Some missions have you raiding a train, having shootouts, and claiming bounties. You play as numerous characters through the course of the missions. These characters include Red, Jack Swift( an englishman), Annie Stoakes, (a Cowgirl), and Shadow Wolf (an indian, of course.) But you mostly play as Red.Even though the missions are fun, there isnt much to do when you finish the game. There is very little replay value. The closest thing to a level-select is the "Bounty Hunter" mode. This mode has you coming back to previous missions, and you have to complete certain objectives, including not getting shot, or completing the level within a certain period of time. The game is also very short. I completed this game in about 1 day. There is also a showdown mode, where you and 3 other players have a shootout. There are a few other modes in the shootout thing also. All in all, Red Dead Revolver, is a pretty sweet game. this game truly captures the feel of a western movie. Fans of westerns, wont be disappointed.
