Greatest game I've ever played, but take that with a grain of salt as I am a huge fan of atmospheric western movies.

Never enjoyed a game more. I loved GTA IV, and really enjoy games like Portal, and Bioshock, but this game hit me right where I live. I love the whole of the western film genre, from The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly to Magnificent Seven and even Firefly (yes, Firefly is a western). I'm happily surprised to see that so many others are enjoying RDR, as I feared it would only appeal gamers like myself. I'm old. I come from a time when ADHD wasn't a birthright, and assumed that younger generations wouldn't have the patience for the RDR storyline and atmospherics. I like to soak up the world in this game, and the graphics and sound design are good enough to do it. I like to ride into town at a gentle trot. At the end of a hard-fought RDR day I often ride to a high perch and watch the sun as it sets over the mesas and listening to the coyotes howling in the distance. That's a pace that might not be an ideal match for some, and I think it speaks well for the game design that moments like that are as appreciable for a player like myself while being mercifully ignorable for run-and-gun type players.
