Gamespot's review hit right on the money. This game is revolutionary and can maybe jumpstart a western game hype.

For the first time, rockstars made a game I've been able to take seriously. I'm not saying GTA and The Bully are bad games, they're great games but their stories are hard to get into and their characters are forgetable. Rockstar has now made a game that can make characters you'll love and a story that will make you get more addicted to the game than its exciting, wonderful gameplay. It really made me want to be back in those days, roping cattle, hunting whenever you want and collecting a bounty on an outlaw isn't possible anymore, the old west is dead. It makes you a little sad that this game is the closest you'll ever get to being a cowboy or a bounty hunter (and I mean a real bounty hunter not like that Dog guy on A&E). You realize maybe machines like the automobile and the TV where mistakes and we should live like they did in the old days. You want to make an escape to where the west could be brought back to life and a man was judged by the sweat on his brow, not by the car he drives and the suit he wears. I wish i could say that their is hope for me to be able to do this someday, but if I told myself I could someday, I'd be lying to myself. So it looks like I'm going to have to stick to Red Dead. Anyone who's ever dreamed of being in the west must pick up this game.
