i suppose this game would be great, besides it's inability to run on Vista.

I've been a big Myst fan for a while now, so when I heard of realMyst, I was very excited. But, to my dismay, it doesn't run on Vista. I eventually got it to start by fiddling with the compatibility settings, but the fix works randomly. One day it will work, another day it won't. But, the good news is, once you get it started, it's a great game. The new fps-style movement is so much easier then the point n' click style of the original. The real-time effects are gorgeous, especially the water effects. Watching the sun sink over the horizon while standing on the beach in front of the clock tower, as birds fly over head is absolutely breath taking. The sound has also been digitally remastered, so of course that sounds amazing. When the game came out, many people complained about the steep system requirements, I'll just remind you that it's about 10 years later, so you'll be fine. I'm running a Vista 32-bit operating system, with an Nvidia Geforce 9800 GT card, a dual core processor, and 2 gigs of ram, and I could download the patch, and crank up the visuals, even anti-aliasing with no problems. So the technical side of the game is looking' real good, now on to the puzzles! I have to admit that some of the fun was taken out the game due to the fact that I've beaten the game 3 or 4 times before, but it was still fun to complete the same puzzles all over again (though a bit tedious). Let's say I hadn't completed the game before, then I guess the puzzles would be hard, as they sure were the first time I played the game. Most of the puzzles have to do with machinery, or futuristic devises such as holograms. Of course, the fact that the game is really slow, with NO violence or action whatsoever, will turn some people off. It did to me when I tried the game for the first time. But if you take the time to beat all the puzzles, and really give the game a try before selling it on eBay, you'll find a really deep and engaging experience. One tip, don't buy this game if you have Vista, unless you want to risk wasting money on a game that WILL NOT run on your computer. One tip, try turning off Windows desktop manager, and running the game in Windows NT 4.0 compatibility. That's how I got my game to run, and it's the only fix that actually worked for me.
