Having never played a Rayman game before I was mainly playing this based around the praise it got.. Rayman Origins is a platformer through and through, from tons of collectibles, to incredibley challenging later in the game, cute (although weird characters), bright and colorful.. The game even after finishing I really have no clue what the story to it was.. It starts with Rayman and his pals snoring waking up an old woman and she seems to be telling the dark enemies to attack, then you go to different worlds collecting electoons for medals, rescuing nymphs and have a finale with a little dark dude.. It doesn't really matter, the game definatley is charming in its weirdness and absolutely beautiful environments and animations.. I really did like this game although it did make me rage consideribley later in the game.. I was cursing loudly and getting really frustrated at certain points.. but it very gradually increases the difficulty, most of the first 3/4 of the game isn't too bad and very enjoyable.. The game does have you unlocking abilities by rescuing the nymphs, such as the hover ability, run up walls ability and ground attack all of which are extremely useful.. There are sections of the game where you are on the back of a mosquito blasting enemies for powerups and avoiding obstacles.. There are also challenge levels to unlock red teeth to get into the underworld, unfortunatley for me one of the level pirates treasurer appears to be bugged and impossible for me to pass.. Oh yeah theres some extremely unique and cool music in this game that you won't find in anything else.. From fish singing in a strange squeaky voice, to the fast pace chase music they really did an incredible job with it.. Overall if you like platformer games you will definitley enjoy this.. Platformers are not one of my favorite genres anymore but I had a good time with this..
